@Feckerhead Thanks!....and you're right it starts with Audioslave, but Youtube only recognizes the last song played in a video so it just thinks it's Alice n Chains since that is the second song in the video.
@jeeperskreepers1 Really!? Yeah about 15yrs ago I had a modded 1st gen 4Runner, but I currently live in an economy where I can only afford one 'real' car and I enjoy driving a sports car on the road as a daily driver vs a 'real jeep'. So to satisfy my off-roading habit I do it at 1/10 scale....it's much more affordable.
This is one of my favorite crawling videos on youtube. It's a realistic trail rig, you're driving it well and the video doesn't have "let the bodies hit the floor". Could you please tell me what wheels you are running? I totally love the jeep. Any details about it would be appreciated!
@DetectorOCD I see that if I bought the dingo, the wheelbase would be accurate for the cherokee body. Is that correct? And did you just paint the axial wheels? In any event, I hope to see more of your videos!
Hey just wanted to let u know it worked out great didn't have to trim any flares but u did have to jack it up a bit it looks great I had to make custom mounts and weld them to the frame of my LCC
Hey man great video!! I did the same thing except I used the fender flares from the dingo body... My flat irons are cut the same too... Lol I painted mine white so I can see the mud better... Lol.. I got a honcho so I can run the comanche body too!!!
And btw I am gonna lock out the articulation on my crawler cause it has to much and it should be cool cause the worm drive eliminates torque twist so it won't lean as much
Thanks for the quick response the wheelbase is 312.4 mm so I don't think that should be a problem, but if I cut the flares all the way off I might get bolt on ones and make them higher up then cut the excess off and I am going to check ur other videos out now, check out my friends channel chubbson1111 we made a vid on my custom ax10 it's pretty cool (all his other videos are dumb haha)
@26Bikerboy at 312.4mm wheelbase you are about a half inch longer than the body so it will take some careful trimming to make it fit and look right where the wheels aren't pushed to far to the front and back.
Hey, I am making a new rig right now and I ordered this shell for, the thing is I am doing it on an old losi comp crawler I have laying around I also ordered some 2.2 superswamper tsl's and I am wondering if it will be a tight fit or even if the wheels are to big for the shell( tsl 2.2 are some massive tires) any response is nice thanks and btw this is a great video
@26Bikerboy Idk what the wheel base is on your losi (1/10 losi comp crawler has a 12.3" (312.4mm) wheelbase) and this Jeep XJ body wheelbase is 11.8" (300mm), may have some issues there. As far as using 2.2 tires, that will be tight fit. You will prolly have to cut the fender flares all the way off. I had to trim them pretty good to keep my 1.9 tires from rubbing at full flex. Thanks for the compliments...check out the newer vids with the roofrack and lightbar installed.
@Gibby1776 ...well lets see...the SCX10 kit runs about $200-$250 depending on where you order from, the Cherokee body was about $30, you will need batteries($10-$50) & charger($20-$100), esc($30-$100), steering servo($20-$100), and radio/reciever($20-$300)...all this stuff can vary greatly in price depending on quality and brand name...some of it I already owned. The way the truck is in this video it's prob around $350...in video 2 & 3 I have added some accessories so it's a little higher.
Looking to trade an axial scaler for my $1800 RC car. I'm looking at the axial. Contact me for the Youtube video link or type in the following description "Trade for RC Axial Rock Crawler, click on "SHOW MORE" below, call at 314-960-9720, tdwmb7@aol.com"
@camaross92 ...I like them much better cut than the way they were stock. They clean out way better, and have a better edge to grab with when crawling. Only downside is that they tend to wear a little faster, but that's not a big deal.
@Joester1908 This is not a honcho, it started from a regular scx10 kit. Check one of my earlier videos it is this same kit with the original truck body on it.
@BlueNDN2 Oh ok I see ill check it out. I really want an Axial but I want to be sure the Cherokee body will fit. I really like your crawler it looks really nice
@jeepboy15 ..... Most all online hobby shops sell them. It's an Axial SCX10 kit with the Proline Jeep body....just search those in google and I'm sure you will get plenty of places.
@ChillinCherokee ....no I've actually never made it out there...this is at a local elementary school..has a nice grass park with a concrete track around it, and these giant boulders are scattered throughout the park. Want to go out to Moss Rock, but I only have about 2hrs of run time with my current batteries and I know that is a huge area with some long hikes.
@BlueNDN2 i live in corner witch is right next to gardendale witch im sure your firmiluar with man i thought i was the only one in al that has a crawler message me back on my page i will add you
@JuniorPros118 the trail ready will work fine if you get the silver "defender" style body....if you get the rtr version with the honcho body the rear links will be a little long for this xj body....also remember the rtr versions come with plastic links where the kits have metal links for suspension and steering...if that matters to you.
Nice jeep! Did u have to mod anything to get the body on right? did it fit good? And was this the rtr vesion or the kit version? Did u change any of the electronics? And shere you using the stock radio that it comes with? If you could get back to me asap, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
@JuniorPros118 <<<thanks! This is the stock SCX-10 truck kit...not the rtr. None of the electronics are stock Axial stuff...they were all purchased separately (rc4wd esc w/ drag brake, old traxxas 3ch tx/rx....standard hi torque servo and using old Nimh stick batteries). This body fits perfectly on the regular kit or the rtr, but if you have or get the Honcho; it has longer rear links and will require some mods to make the wheel base fit with this body.
@izdawg76 painting the outside of the lexan? I've painted the outside of hard body models and rc's that aren't clear bodies to start with, but not lexan. I like this cause the paint doesn't scrape off on the rocks.
@BlueNDN2 yeah checkout my cherokee i painted a primer and then about 6 coats of white. and when it rolls over or rub rocks its looks like its been on some rock and the primer underneath looks like rust. i dont like seeing clean crawlers, haha
@izdawg76 Gotcha....yeah once this Cherokee body is worn out I want to get some kind of hard body for the SCX10, but I'll keep what you said in mind if I do another lexan.
good video! you have weights on the wheels? If so, how did you aply the wieghts and with what? those tires are flat irons too? lol sorry for all the questions. (check my videos out).
Thanks!... Yes, the wheels are weighted. I used stick-on 1/4oz wheel weights that are actually for balancing wheels and tires on a regular car/truck. Check CKRCCrawlers they sell them in sticks of 12, so like 3oz per stick. I got 3oz on each front wheel and 1oz on each rear, and yes those are flat iron tires with every other outside lug cut off.
Thanks man! but this is not a Honcho kit...the Honcho has longer wheelbase than the regular SCX-10 kit. This wasn't a pre-built, but as far as stock parts this one is pretty much all stock still...and going strong.
Everything was bought online. It's an Axial SCX 10 kit (which you build yourself)....search and you might find for just under $200...but you still gotta buy the electronics (motor, radio/receiver, ecu, servo, and batteries). So really depends on what kind of electronics you put in, and the Jeep body is separate. This rig altogether is in the $400-$500 range. You can buy their prebuilt versions for around $300 and you just put batteries in and it's ready to go.
When first built I followed the instructions and fill shocks with oil, and they were super stiff. Then soon after I re-did them and they are about 3/4 full now.
A stock SCX-10 like this is more of a trail truck than a crawler. Most crawlers run 2.2 tires and these are 1.9 for more of a scale look. If you're thinking of serious crawling then look at the AX-10 kit, but these are still very capable while maintaining more of a scale look.
@8391208 this was neither the RTR or TR.... it was originally the SCX10 kit I built...not a pre-built.....see my other video to see the original body.... I just purchased and added the TR bumpers and rock rails for the Cherokee body.
that is correct...Pro-Line made the body to fit the regular SCX10 kit.... if you have a Honcho you will need to shorten the rear links..... I haven't seen anyone try to fit it on the AX10....would prolly have to cut away most all of the fender even if the wheelbase was right.
Nice job. Shame to loose the Kustom body. You've done a good job, layering the paint worked well. Black rims look good too - did you paint stock ones?
@10KYLE13 not without modifications... the wheel base is off. The body fits the SCX10 truck kit and the TR.... I believe the SCX10 Honcho kit even requires shorter rear links to fit this body correctly...hope that helps.
@xmoder23 thanks!!...lol..the color was kinda an experiment that came out really well. I used all Tamiya polycarbonate rattle cans....first sprayed translucent "frost" green, then backed that with their brilliant silver, and then backed it all with black....
I just got the PL XJ body. It may not have as much detail as scaleoffroad's, but it's much easier on my wallet, which shrinks too much after paying rent, bills, and taxes. I figure with a beater style paint job, along with PL's Western bumpers, roof rack, and detail parts, it should look pretty decent.
Very cool...Like the body...Nice Job
