I've never used 00' buck at an indoor range. The place for 00' buck is at an outdoor range with good earthen berms.
The ammo used in this video, as well as other 12 ga. shells used at indoor ranges has been #6, #7 1/2, or #8 shot. At 25 yards penetrating power has dissipated, and there is virtually no chance of the tiny pellets causing damage to the steel pulleys or cables.
In my experience bird shot only truly effective within a 5 to ten yard range for serious self defense purposes.
The primary reason I have seen range officers and others at the range get shook up, excited, turned on, turned off - the reactions vary greatly from individual to individual - is that the shotgun has the unique and unmistakable profile, characteristics, and manual fire rate of a semi automatic AK.
Some folks find this scary, and others are delighted. Personally - I like it. This is hands down, my favorite all purpose firearm.
Thanks. It's even more fun to continue to shoot the targets as they fly through the air, and chase them down range, but I ran out of ammo - and it REALLY upsets the range officers. Actually the gun IS made in Russia, and the Russian theme is an homage to Mikail Kalashnikov, the originator of the AK. It's my understanding that Kalashnikov himself contributed to this 12 gauge version of his design. If you don't care for the Russian theme check out my other video. It's pure American redneck!
@newmexicogoldsmith NICE VIDEO! you're right, all Saiga products are designed and produced in Russia's Izhmash, where (izhmash claims) master weapons designer Dr. kalashnikov still oversees design and production of their small arms divsion
Hmmmm..... Something seems very familiar about that build!!! Love the shine on that bolt carrier!!!! See ya back at the ranch!!!

i own a saiga 12 as well, and quite enjoyed the music :)
and yes, range officers tend to frown upon rapid fire, especially when your laying out 00 buck.
