  • haha i like the strap!

  • I still can't figure out how to play this, you should go back and do an instructional video :P That was great though.

  • sick

  • You got talent man!!! Couldn't peel my eyes away from the screen. Nice work :)

  • Not only can you play this, and ofcourse like all of the people who want to encourage you to keep playing have said, you make mistakes, but what really matters is keeping time even after you make a mistake to get yourself back on beat. Master that, and there won't a Tool song out there you can't handle! Oh and the fact that the camera cuts off your head shows some serious attitude. Loving it!

  • Awesome job!

  • That is one sexy ass ibanez

  • @Layneismyhero1 Really...

  • My sister plays this like it's nothing. Great job!

  • this mite be a stuppid question but could sume one send me the tabs for this im just starting out and i love the way this dude plays this it looks like a good one to learn for a beginer

  • u've got mad skills

  • damn dude thats fucking amazing !!!

  • Very nice. Almost completely accurate. Keep playing. I'm subscribing.

Oh, and to whomever said he didn't know what a triplet was, i think you should educate yourself, and pry open your third eye before attacking someone who is clearly more educated than you on this subject.

  • God Bless this cover

  • nice cover man

  • Your guitar sounds fuccccking evil nice job

  • wow !!

  • Don't worry, adam fucks up too.

  • Brother I gotta let you know seeing this display of awesomeness left me breathless. I am a music lover and not just for the lyrics. Seeing you shred those licks like a pro was epic. I mean these jerk off's here are saying you made mistakes..of course you did IT WAS LIVE watch any band live and they mess up. Keep it up man... Personally I would like to see you take on 46&2 if you haven't already. At least in terms of Tool songs... Keep on rockin' my talented brother.

  • @JDVMusicLover Hey thanks dude, much appreciated! I'm trying to move on from Tool and start trying to expose more local acts now, so I've got plans for some other Aussie acts, but not really Tool.. But I guess I could chuck 46 & 2 up, it's not too challenging.

    Thanks again man! :)

  • How do you guarantee a good triplet? I know how to execute them fine, but I think my tension is a bit too loose, could this be the case?

  • good job but that begining riff adam hammers on 3,2,0 then whatever else. not just the top note. nice job anyway

  • I wonder what the hell is happening to the dumbasses talking in this video, are you just stupid? Or is it the envy?

He is missing only SOME notes, because the rythm of that guitar is a bit hard to master, but he played it pretty good.

YES, the song is THAT ''simple'', despite the rythm.

Dude you did good, don't listen to this bastards, let them dwell.

  • Thanks man! :)

  • u suk

  • ever heard of a triplet?

  • I have; if you were educated enough to identify them yourself, you'd know that I'm playing triplets.

I'll be sure to get your approval next time before I submit anything; wouldn't want any subdivisions to go amiss next time.

  • good job but played wrong ive seen adam play it and this is not right...but good ass cover..

  • Dude, you wish that song was as simple as you're playing it. Sorry, but no. Just... No.

  • Yyyyyeah, it kind of is actually..

  • Well, you're missing notes in the intro, but whatever. I didn't even watch the whole video, so nevermind.

  • Well there you go.. I'm playing all the notes in the intro; you just can't hear it because it's poorly recorded. But yeah, never mind.

  • yeah it is

  • So sad...

  • Good job.

  • nice

  • props on standing sitll for 7 1/2 min. striaght

ppl dont know how hard that is

  • agreed.

  • sounds great!

  • Very impressive!

  • that is the Joe Satriani Prestige by Ibanez. that costs a pretty penny too. but it's totally woth it.

  • so youre saying after playing the guitar for one month and you can easily play this? i strongly doubt that after one month you picked up these alternate picking techniques so fast and and so easily..

  • Me too...

  • nice Ibanez dude and u sound great! :)

  • hey you are really good. let me know if you ever need a singer for a symphonic metal band!! i sing opera.

  • Really good.

  • I seriously doubt that. The timing in this song trips up a ton of people.

I've been playing for 5 years and I have trouble with this song.

  • since when do u play guitar?

  • ever heard of consistency?

  • this song isn't really that hard. it's the timing that's the killer

  • sounds good bro....

  • Sound:

"You've gotta crank the mids thats pretty much the key. I cranked the mids, backed off the bass a little and then back off the treble a little more than the bass. I think I had the gain around 1 or 2."

Quote took from another Tool video.

  • it's either to loud-and starts to distort, blending the notes together, not a nice sound, or you have to many of the wrong effect, which is distorting the sound. Good tho, considering you made hardly any big mistakes over a 7min song.

  • hey what kinda bass is that in the backround?

  • Blew my mind ! Always thought about the wierd electric sounds...cool job man

  • I play the solo using two strings the 2nd and 3rd with a full bend on the 3rd...sounds a lot better try it out.

  • grt job dude you rock \m/

  • EGGS. that song kinda freaks me out. PEANUTBUTT.ARRRRRRRRR

  • what the fuck?!?!?!?!?!

    u r obviously not a tool fan

honestly were u high when u wrote this or r u like 10?or just retarded wichever on

u should not be on the internet.

  • YOU are just jealous of my MASSIVE PEANUT BUTTAR SKILLS.

  • i agree i am

  • sweat your the man

  • isnt that song really hard 2 play. nice job

  • ur missing the triplet

  • Not showing your face, in a true tool fashion.

  • @harkits so true

  • nice guitarr. is it a S series from Ibanez?

  • yes sir it is. 450S. i don't really use it anymore, i bought a new guitar; much better.

  • what kind?

  • my new guitar is a belman double cutaway grand. it's a now shut-down company in melbourne, australia. all hand made really beautiful guitar. i'll probably try to put a new video up using it at some point; we'll see.

  • it was pretty good. this is one of my favorite songs. what kind of wah pedal were you using?

  • i used my digitech Ex-7 which models the vox clyde mccoy wah and also models the jim dunlop cry baby. i THINK i used the cry baby setting.

  • this is in drop c right?

  • drop D

  • Fair play. Great lead playing on it. Cool tone. We actually play some of the riffs off this song at the end of one of our own live. Only loved this one after hearing it live; drumming is even more incredible live. All hail Danny C.

  • you nailed it.

  • hey can u make a vid on how to play this?

  • wow

    the intro was right

  • you learn this by ear or tabs?

  • very good man

  • Well that is just awesome !

What effect r u using fr the solo? Is it just Wah or?? i can't really place it

  • it's wah + synth wah (digitech synth wah) + distortion + boost

  • hey bro, this is one of my favourite songs to play and i thought u did it pretty well, the only bit that u need to look at is the soft bit between 5:30ish to 6:05ish its a rhythem of 2-3-3-5-5 of just the drop D over and over.

but u did the solo sick! its the funnest song to play. good on ya!!!

  • Ok I dont know much about guitars but please bare with this probebly noobish question. My dad plays and he uses a Vox and it looks alot like your guitar. Is it the same? I cant really see the logo on the peg board(?) because of a glare. Just curious..........

  • Hey dude,

It's an Ibanez 450S. And you can just call it the head of the guitar.

    Hope that helps!

  • it's hard to learn this song to begin with because of the 9:8/6:8 timing it's so wierd.

  • wow not to shabby kid

  • If you think he is isnt playing this then learn how to play a guitar and you might understand how it WORKS.. He plays it all the way through props to you u did a nice job.

  • hey jimmah01...dont listen to any of these fools....keep doing ur thing....and they will keep leaving insults with keyboards..while u r playing guitar to music u love......I wonder which one is better? hmmmmm music loving artists ALWAYS win over sniveling typists!!!!

  • dudes that dont believe he is playen are retards the track in background is way lower then the amp he is playen not well but he is playen

  • awesome man!

  • Right on, Bro...I'm convinced. Great job!

  • he isnt even playing watch in the beginning at about 5 seconds the music starts before his hand even moves GOTTEMMM

  • your a fucking retard he is playing to the track holy fucking shit you are stupid your mom poked you with a hangar too much when she was trying to have an abortion

  • relax you little kids react way to much to comments on videos that arnt even yours. and i noticed that after i posted the comment ...relax what childish comments too ..

  • suck balls

  • your solo and before the breakdown arent quite correct but nice playing

  • for battle of the bands last year me and my band decided to do a tool tribute...because of a simple delay we werent able to play in the actual competition however we were able to play at the half time thing and we dominated every other band there we played four songs sweet child o mine was first followed by blood brothers by iron maiden third we played the pot followed by of course Vicarious all simple songs right

  • nice guitar

  • your awesome man

  • hey u good . need 2 improve..

    any way gud job........

  • I can't seem to hear those "accelerations" with which Jambi opens and has throughout the beginning of the song. I believe they're triplets (which makes it hard cause triplets make you switch direction if you're sweep picking) but you don't seem to play them (correct me if I'm wrong here) and honestly I think that's the only real hard thing in Jambi...

  • Sorry if im wrong, but I think he is doing what adam does, pulling off the low e AND the a to give that triplet sound. So as his finger goes up, he pulls off the open A not as well. Hope that made sense........

  • Yeah that does make sense, though from what I can hear on the original, I'd say Adam actually picks every note which results in pretty hard alternating sweep picking, but heck, maybe I'm hearing it wrong and he only hammers/taps 'm!

I had the same problem with Schism where I though Justin picked everything until I saw him playing it with hammer ons in a video so, maybe my hearing is tricking me again^^

  • yes, that's correct

  • and i don't understand why people who claim to have better things to do with their time bother commenting.

  • I do not understand why so many people are praising vids like these when the background volume is approaching the volume of the actual guitar.

  • agreed

  • crazy offbeat action

  • holy fuckin shit

    nice job

  • At first I had a hard time believing your volume was even audible until I heard the small creaks and cracks of the strings on some mutes. Your timing was extremely tight in the opening riffs there. Later it's clear you're playing over the top of the track by a good amount. It's easy to get timing/technique "tired" after a song like this but I can't picture someone expecting more. This is probably closer to the album than Jones himself plays it live 98% of the time. Vely vely gud.

  • coool

  • you are good

  • Ah, it was hard to distinguish between the music in the background and you. I guess that's a good thing ;)

  • sometimes a bit lost and ... you know..? but brave try! ;)

  • amazin'

  • your one of the first people ive seen play this correct, fucking excellent my freind

  • lol nice strap, its fruit-a-licious

  • dont fake it too much..

  • kinda lost but it was awsome!

  • work on your vibrato

  • Instead of doing 3p2p0 try just 3p0 and drag your pulloff finger down and hit the A string. That should produce the correct jambi riff.

  • sorry it looks like you were doing it right, n/m, rock on sir.

  • no dude, I agree with opiate of the masses on this one, its a 1-2 pull off with no gaps between the fret shifts. I've seen Adam Jone's from the Front Row and he doesn't do a 3 finger pull off

  • opiate of the masses created a new tab after his jambi video, it's just a pull off with one finger off the third fret then you pull off the open a... then repeat with 5, 1, and 10th frets. the guy in this video isn't doing 3 finger pull offs either, he just has his fingers extended so it looks like he's using 3

  • i see it now. where can i get the opiate of hte masses tabs? i usually have to learn all the Tool songs on utube by mimicking what I see but playing it from my point of view

  • Kinda off but really good at solo

  • whoa, that was fucking great!

  • you loose time a few times, but nice job

  • great job

  • damn your good wow and i love ibanez to :P

  • What kind of amp/pedal are you using?

  • hi! this is my opinion ... just some details ... first the principal riff its makes w/double picking ... second, the solo part ... talk box!! if u don't have it take your wha pedal and MOD it for a more whoOOo sound, more vocal sound!!! ... very nice dude congrats!!! keep da good work! =D

  • shihiro your a fucking moron that is the Joe Satriani model. Fender is horrible i picked one up in a store and put it right back. Dont listen to him you did great and KEEP THAT GUITAR!!!!!

  • Thanks. And I intend to keep it.

  • sorry man my bro was on my account i was wondering why people were sending comments on videos that i didnt even watch and its funny how you assume shihiro was a guy but sorry man

  • cool but leave it to tool and dude stop playin ibanez there crap try goin out and buyin a esp or a fender showmaster or telecaster but ibanez sucks. BUt other words good shit PEACE!!!!!

  • Everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess....

With that said, GO JACKSON AND FENDER!!!!!

    Ok I'm done...

    GREAT GUITAR PLAYING!!!!!

  • that was cool. I play Ibanez to.

  • that's nice man... c' ya'

  • I can't beLIEVE my fancharacter was named after a band!!!

  • Sorry?

  • Uh... Fan Character. You DO have one, do you?

  • thats fucking sweet dude! god damm, keep it up.

  • Woooooooooooooooooooo.....TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.....

  • holy shit! thats awsome XD

  • nice job man

  • nice job trying to emulate the talk box, dude.

  • fucking sick dude, seriously, keep it up! holy shit.

  • dude if u just were really playing that... ur are pretty fucking cool!

  • u made me believe that jambi could be played by normal human beings..man u rock !!!!..just wanna know..is there a specific effect or sound settings u used to get the EXACT sound of adam jones ??

  • Really good job :)

  • if u feel like it go ahead and put another video of jambi but u really nailed the song so....

  • Great playing man! Keep it up. And what kind of guitar is that?

  • Thanks. It's an Ibanez 450S.

  • Seriously, like Muaguana said, 6:39ish-6:44ish are just bad ass, great transition man.

  • Of course, man ! Show us yeah !

  • Hey guys, thanks for all the positive feedback. Time has progressed and naturally after playing Jambi more, I can play it better, just wondering if you think I should re-do it and put another version up? Thanks, jimmah.

  • You were a little behind the beat around the :55 mark, but you corrected that pretty quickly. And besides, it's hard sometimes to keep up with the crazy-ass syncopations that Tool has. But otherwise, that was KICK ASS. 6:43 - one of the most bad-ass sounding guitar riffs EVER. Great job.

  • YYyyYYyYEEEeEeEEAaAaAAAa man that was great

  • fuqn great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • actually. seems from yoru other videos that i use almost the same amp as you. I have a line 6 spider 212. My brother uses the flextone though.

  • Sweet. I used my DigiTech EX-7 Expression Factory Wah, which is modeled on the Dunlop Cry Baby. I think I might have been using my DigiTech synth wah at the same time as well.

  • nice. Yeah i love my crybaby 535 Q. Definatly my most used pedal... The line 6 amps are so good at replicating sounds of other artists that use tube amps. Alot of people underestimate them.

  • nice! what amp you use? nice use of the Wah to substitute for the talk box! that was awsome

  • no critisism that was great!!

  • I've been thinking about getting an ibanez, but now I'm convinced. I really want one now, but it will be a bass. Too many people are going for guitar, and someone needs to learn bass.

    Excellent job, nonetheless

  • Yeah, I've also got an Ibanez 5 string bass, it's awesome. Go for it, dude.

  • wowza mc bowza that was preddy damn good!

  • my suggestion to you is to get some soul! the playing isn't bad, but feels and looks dead and bored. get into it! the amount of heart you play with comes through in the sound

  • Where can I get some? I've asked some local music shops and they don't stock it... Is it on eBay? Teeheehee. What do you want me to do? Headbang? I can't move around too much or my hands'll go out of view...

  • it's not about headbanging, but putting more soul into your playing will make you sound better

  • MAL ---

  • MAL?

  • Bad in french... Got it...
