whats the deal with this band? they're not The Gits.

The American band weren't known in Britain at the time we started, 1987, and in fact we'd packed it in before we came across them. It's not something we can change now so that's why I always stick the UK in brackets after the name.

I gather there's been at least two of three other bands also called the Gits. In the days before the internet the chances of knowing there was a clash of names was a lot slimmer.
