@TrimThePussPuss its a must for eyefinity especially with full hd on all 4, it really does need that ram to be able to display all 4 monitors at the same time without lag, but if your going to use one moniotr then you really shouldnt bother with 6990 but rather something like 6870/6890

@Uberlight2 Well, if u would use 4 7970's in QuadFire, they would work as if they were 1 card, so all 12GB is usable, the HD 6990 itself is a dual 6970 chips dwarfed into 1 big card, so it's actually 2 x 2GB, & the 7990 will be 2 x 3GB (2 x 7970's) but still, dual gpu cards perform slightly lower than dual cards since they're pinched into 1 long card, so there are some limits.

@RE5LEGEND yes 4x 7970s easily beats 2x 6990 hands down. no u wont get 12gb of memory. if u have a 2gb card n xfire it with another, u half ur memory, thus u still have 2gb in the end. same goes for if u have 4x 3gb cards, u get 1/4 of the memory so basically still ur 3gb.

@DeadEnferno i guess ur right, but what i've noticed when i had 2 GTX 460's was that when i played BF3 on Ultra, the VRAM usage was 2012MB (1006MB each card) in total & it was still bottlenecking at some points, but both VRAMs were being used.

@RE5LEGEND yup dual gpu cards are pretty much an sli/cf on one pcb. but you must put a dual gpu card on a x16 slot that is wired for x16 because the 2 gpu's have to share the bandwidth. so its like having 2 cards on x8,x8. but if you use a dual gpu card on an x8 slot itll be like x4,x4 which is not a good idea.

This card doesnt make much sense to me. One can get two 6950s at this price, unlock them and thus run a system that will be about 20% faster than this. You can make a case on this offering less thermal constraints, but anyone contemplating to buy this card will probably have a good enough case and a motherboard with enough space between the pcie slots for that to not be a problem.
