No one's probably gonna read this, but I’ll say it anyway cuz I feel at least 1 person will. I'm a young designer and graffiti artist, I know there's a million out there but I feel like my art has a unique individual style.
If you just take a min and give me a chance I'll make you a believer. I would love nothing more than to have a loyal following on youtube. If anyone who reads this could press the "THUMBS UP" others will see it. Just a simple button push will make a huge difference.
I'm so sick of people saying shit along the lines of "oh wow look how much U2 has strayed from making good music", and things like "why dont they keep making stuff like this". U idiots need to keep in mind that they were 21 here and are now like 50 ... I'd like to see u write the exact same style for 30 years. That is exactly was has kept U2 one of the best bands in the world, being able to grow musically and adapt to the changes over time. If they stayed the same, u'd critisize them for that
My favorite U2 song. They are not the band they once were, but the material they have given us over the years leaves a solid record of their contribution to music.
The thing about U2 is that they perform as if rock and roll can redeem the world. I don't know any other way to say it. Great bands can produce great music, and they do, but they also project this aura as if rock can really change the world, like it is some kind of annealing fire that can dissolve all the evil and wasteful aspects of our lives and turn them into some kind of golden gift. Very weird band.
Do you really expect u2 not to change since this was made?I got into them about that time, now I'am 40 with three kids. They couldn't stay the same, then you would have laughed at them.
@scatt - about the "lights in my eyes" - that's U2 trademark style, right? Improvisation. Like when Bono starts singing a few lines from a Stones song a Live Aid.
I really get a kick out of people getting so pissed over debating "best bands", etc. 1) A lot of it is a matter of taste 2) I think it can be like comparing apples to oranges - bands are different, and have their own strengths.
I'll find myself in different moods, therefore I will listen to different artists or even different songs from those artists depending on what I'm looking for. It's a very subjective matter.
If I see your fucking face I promise to sent your soul to the hell together that asshole of hitler...U2 dominate and other people like paul e and the edge Must RULE THIS WORLD!!!!!!

Technical acumen isn't the only gauge of a band's worth. If that were the case, the Beatles would have been forgotten long ago and punk never would have gained any traction.
bassace that is absolute twaddle. nobody is even close. to get anyone even close you have to travel BACK IN TIME, not presently! You are proof positive the current generation cannot discern a d@#$ about music
what? are you saying that my age allows you to have preconcived notions about me or my taste in music? and saying that U2 is better than Pink Floyd or Zepplin is a argument of true stupidity...i love old U2 but don't favor their new stuff...so plese thing "armpitoftheworld" (WTF kind of name?!)
Yes, I am saying that on both counts; they are clearly better than those bands, have proved it over the years, and yes your generation knows @#$% about music.
dude anyone can lable bands with unneccesary lables....like you calling Van Halen American hair metal trash....if you took the time to actually listen to EVH and his solos hes pretty talented and in my oppinion can out play "The Edge" any day of the week....besisdes Evh made his career off a guitar that cost him $130...i dont beleive "The Edge" can amout to that
"Gloria in te Domine Gloria exultate" translates to "Glory in you, Lord Glory, exalt [him]" a reference to Psalm 30:2 (in te Domine, speravi). The song also contains references to Colossians 2:9-10 ("Only in You I'm complete") and James 5:7-9 ("The door is open You're standing there").
great great Bono & co...! "Gloria" is 1 of my favourite songs made by this legendary band! what a pity, they don't play it anymore today...(or not?)BONO HAS GOT PURE FAITH...think it over 4 a moment: it was really a weird thing singing a song like this 1..Rock has always, 4 the most, praised rebellion and sometimes satanic messages...but U2 ARE TRULY THE BREAKING POINT IN THE WORLD OF THINKING ROCK! That's why i love them!

Bono - as shit at rapping back then as he is now. If only he'd just sing. Oh well. At least his haircut's as good now as it was back then. Actually, hang on...
Everyone seems to love the ending chorus so much... what about the amazing guitar riffs and solo from the Edge, and the parts before that?... It's not just the ending chorus folks! The whole song is amazing!
They are a remarkable band. This song (esp. the end) moved me so much that I had to make my own video for it. My sunset photos go perfectly with the song's ending chorus. Thanks, U2!!
they were in school together (Mount Temple Dublin) and Larry put up a poster for a band in the school when he was 16. the edge(16) bono (18) and adam (18) and edges brother (who subsiquently left the group) turned up at his house
the funniest bit is that Bono actually auditioned as a lead guitarist and had worked out a version of the solo to 'Abraxas' by Santana. Then he saw edge playing it and he said "It sounded a little different". They basically told him he'd have to sing as they needed a singer!! Such fate.
... there are so many brillaint ones, hard to pick 'em... but "Streets" has to be up there; I think 'Crumbs from your table' is brilliant, even "An Cat Dubh" is brilliant... "the fly" was amazing... too too many. he's just legend..
