  • I`m 54 years old and I can remember as an Irish girl and an American hearing U2 for the first time. They just get better!

  • Hard to believe they could create something so good so young.

  • Its unbelievable how amazing they sound live

  • This is really good. One of my favorite U2 songs. Thanks.

  • I'm so sick of people saying shit along the lines of "oh wow look how much U2 has strayed from making good music", and things like "why dont they keep making stuff like this". U idiots need to keep in mind that they were 21 here and are now like 50 ... I'd like to see u write the exact same style for 30 years. That is exactly was has kept U2 one of the best bands in the world, being able to grow musically and adapt to the changes over time. If they stayed the same, u'd critisize them for that

  • fuck you 6 people who disliked this

  • The edge's minimalism is divine and bono's hair is sex u2 was the best band ever :D

  • My favorite U2 song. They are not the band they once were, but the material they have given us over the years leaves a solid record of their contribution to music.

  • well, they used to be a good band, up until pop more or less.

    afterwards it was mostly downhills.

  • @shai99999 i agree, bono got too political, their sound from 80-87' was their best

  • Who does'nt like U2 at all ?! I adore them for many years !! They're true ROCKERS !! I love the voice of Bono !!

  • OMG ! Guys, your hair is ..........

  • Bono is high.

  • i love this song

  • One of my fav u2 songs...cheers for posting !

  • the edge is sounding a 'little pitchy' here .. not one of his best performances

  • Typical non responsive, barely alive German audience.

  • They were touched by God's hand. That is a studio quality performance, and to pull it off that young--it is supernatural, in a way.

  • I think that that the song is called discotheque

  • The thing about U2 is that they perform as if rock and roll can redeem the world. I don't know any other way to say it. Great bands can produce great music, and they do, but they also project this aura as if rock can really change the world, like it is some kind of annealing fire that can dissolve all the evil and wasteful aspects of our lives and turn them into some kind of golden gift. Very weird band.

  • @lebarosky I think were inspired by the clash with that idea

  • this was my favorite U2 song forever.......

  • @WillowZeyphr CAN U HELP ME... WHAT´S THE NAME OF THIS SONG WHERE IN THE VIDEO U2 APPEARS IN A DISCOTHEQUE ?

  • @MrBono21

Im sorry,I cant seem to remember either :(

  • Waauw what an inspiration........Yes it`s all happening in the time.......

  • i love them.. always will

  • check out tom cruise introducing them.....hahahahaha

  • very good !!!!!!!!!!!!! la muziKa

  • They were all so young back then. Hmmm, I guess I was too.

  • what happened to music we used to have such great bands lol

  • I was 12 now in my 40's and still love it!!!! U2 the best.

  • ♥♥♥

  • IN EXULTE DEO. REMEMBER N0 MATTER HOW

THEY LIE TO YOU EACH DAY IS G0D's masterpiece.....YOU FORGET SO Easily...

    Lord Byron

  • U2 wrote "Miami"

  • ok!!!

  • @extreme67

    time for you meds.

  • What kind of sad b@stard watches a video by a band he doesn't like just so he can slag them off!

  • Sod what everyone else says I LOVE this band!!!!!!!

  • Do you really expect u2 not to change since this was made?I got into them about that time, now I'am 40 with three kids. They couldn't stay the same, then you would have laughed at them.

  • @scatt - about the "lights in my eyes" - that's U2 trademark style, right? Improvisation. Like when Bono starts singing a few lines from a Stones song a Live Aid.

  • i love !

  • I just saw them in Berlin a few hours ago. What a long way have these guys gone!

  • What a long way have these guys FALLEN you mean....

  • You are right JohnoEAL. Bono should have stuck to his music.

  • This is def one of my fav U2 songs.

I really get a kick out of people getting so pissed over debating "best bands", etc. 1) A lot of it is a matter of taste 2) I think it can be like comparing apples to oranges - bands are different, and have their own strengths.

I'll find myself in different moods, therefore I will listen to different artists or even different songs from those artists depending on what I'm looking for. It's a very subjective matter.

  • great boys

  • What an awkward thing to say in the middle of a song. "I can't see you. There's lights in my eyes."

  • This has always been my fav U2 song ... and album for that matter. So epic and positive .... the closing section of the song is so moving and grand!

  • lol theres lights in my eyes! can't see you!

  • I love how raw and untouched this performance is.

  • A very underated song for sure. I would love to see them perform this on the 360 tour.

  • most underated U2 song imo,

    love gloria!

  • Because it's on October, great song though

  • this song would be cool even in today's genre's I think. Not too much good stuff comming out these days. Then again maybe I am just getting old.

  • im loving their hair haha

  • The Edge is so cool !!

  • u2 at their finest! lyrics, vocals, bass, guitar and drums all so amazing! they are the best band in the world ! i luv u2!

  • I love the harmonics from Edge on guitar.

  • They play a damn good version of "I Threw A Brick Through A Window" at this gig

  • If I see your fucking face I promise to sent your soul to the hell together that asshole of hitler...U2 dominate and other people like paul e and the edge Must RULE THIS WORLD!!!!!!

  • Go fuck you mother pedro :@@@@

  • lmao. This message doesn't make any sense :) just like crap, something u need to flush down the toilet. It stinks and u're glad when u got rid of it.

  • the edge! with hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the best band in the world

  • ok sure if thats what you want to believe

  • why the hell woud u watch this vid if u dont think there the best band in world!

  • because im a realist...i mean dont get me wrong they are fiune musicians and i love the band but theres more skilled musicians like neil pert and eddie van halen

  • Technical acumen isn't the only gauge of a band's worth. If that were the case, the Beatles would have been forgotten long ago and punk never would have gained any traction.

  • fair...but U2 is not "the best band in the world"...still fine band and love listening but there are better bands out there

  • bassace that is absolute twaddle. nobody is even close. to get anyone even close you have to travel BACK IN TIME, not presently! You are proof positive the current generation cannot discern a d@#$ about music

  • what? are you saying that my age allows you to have preconcived notions about me or my taste in music? and saying that U2 is better than Pink Floyd or Zepplin is a argument of true stupidity...i love old U2 but don't favor their new stuff...so plese thing "armpitoftheworld" (WTF kind of name?!)

  • Yes, I am saying that on both counts; they are clearly better than those bands, have proved it over the years, and yes your generation knows @#$% about music.

    Sod off.

  • Says someone whose account is already closed on YT. Right.

    hb151

  • Eddie Van Halen...hahahhahahahhahahahaha Ami garbage

  • dude anyone can lable bands with unneccesary lables....like you calling Van Halen American hair metal trash....if you took the time to actually listen to EVH and his solos hes pretty talented and in my oppinion can out play "The Edge" any day of the week....besisdes Evh made his career off a guitar that cost him $130...i dont beleive "The Edge" can amout to that

  • Agree's, best band ever ... Gloria is just amazing ...

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe Gloria will come out in 2009??

  • ? .. like in one of thier shows??

  • i like how he has this improvised spoken word part.

  • "oh Lord, loosen my lips"

  • Favourite

  • great song great performance.

  • Birdman - "Gloria in te Domine Gloria exultate" means: "Glory in you, Lord Glory, exalt [him]"

It's a praise inspired by Psalm 30:2 in the Bible

  • EXULTAME!!! BRILLIANT!!!

  • just...great!

  • love this song but who was this gloria?? seen u2 in croke park in summer of 1985 only time i could get a ticket for a u2 gig!!

  • The song is not about a girl, but God.

It is taken from "Gloria in Excelsis Deo."

"Gloria in te Domine Gloria exultate" translates to "Glory in you, Lord Glory, exalt [him]" a reference to Psalm 30:2 (in te Domine, speravi). The song also contains references to Colossians 2:9-10 ("Only in You I'm complete") and James 5:7-9 ("The door is open You're standing there").

  • Awesome!!!

  • great great Bono & co...! "Gloria" is 1 of my favourite songs made by this legendary band! what a pity, they don't play it anymore today...(or not?)BONO HAS GOT PURE FAITH...think it over 4 a moment: it was really a weird thing singing a song like this 1..Rock has always, 4 the most, praised rebellion and sometimes satanic messages...but U2 ARE TRULY THE BREAKING POINT IN THE WORLD OF THINKING ROCK! That's why i love them!

  • U2 ROCKZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The older, first stuff is always good. Like 'The Police'! Before they become so commercialized.

  • EDGE RULES!!!!!!!!!!

  • Everyone seems to love the ending chorus so much... what about the amazing guitar riffs and solo from the Edge, and the parts before that?... It's not just the ending chorus folks! The whole song is amazing!

  • Can't beat that ending chorus!

  • Oh, and hello to my cousins Jens and Vera in Ludwigshafen! Guten tag.

  • GOD! BONO!!!!!!!!

  • i just love them...gloria is one of my alltime favorite ever....simply amazing.<33

and bono is still the hottest and fascinating man in the world for me.=)

  • and the best live show in the world, themselves creation of scenes..etc

  • still the most powerful live band ever.

best front man, best song writing, best and innovative guitarist, driving beats and energy.

nobody like 'em and never has been,

  • Lovvvvvvvve Bonos dancing styles back in the 80s :D

  • wow, they were so young.. :)

  • One of my favourite songs by U2! Good ol' days!

  • They are a remarkable band. This song (esp. the end) moved me so much that I had to make my own video for it. My sunset photos go perfectly with the song's ending chorus. Thanks, U2!!

  • Bono is just steaming with passion and fire as he sings. He's a fucking genius and I have nothing but respect for him, as well as the others

  • Wow, u2 is just to much. how did these 4 guys meet. it's a miracle. best band in history.

  • they were in school together (Mount Temple Dublin) and Larry put up a poster for a band in the school when he was 16. the edge(16) bono (18) and adam (18) and edges brother (who subsiquently left the group) turned up at his house

  • the funniest bit is that Bono actually auditioned as a lead guitarist and had worked out a version of the solo to 'Abraxas' by Santana. Then he saw edge playing it and he said "It sounded a little different". They basically told him he'd have to sing as they needed a singer!! Such fate.

  • the 80's, time of "gloria" :D

  • awesome hairstyle, yea! glooooriaaa

  • I love Bono dancing...

  • U2 is BY FAR the best band of all time. Their B-Sides are better than most band's hit records. Gloria is good.

  • A great song

  • Man this clip is U2 charged with timeless energy; great performance!!

    Cheers.

  • Yes Tom, The spirit of U2's energy

  • this video is perfect except for one minor flaw. MULLET!!!!!

  • It wasn't called a mullet at the time. That happened when the white trash tried to make it a fad.

  • che voce che ha qui bono....non aggingo altro, nonho parole..........

  • Can you a better riff than that. U2 at there best unbeliveable

  • ... there are so many brillaint ones, hard to pick 'em... but "Streets" has to be up there; I think 'Crumbs from your table' is brilliant, even "An Cat Dubh" is brilliant... "the fly" was amazing... too too many. he's just legend..

  • i think that this song is packed with so much energy. This is my most favourite. i literally dont listen to anything else except U2, escpially October. such an achievement! btw, has anyone heard of the band black september?

  • ditto--this is the crowning achievment, in my book. This album, this record

  • October is certainly the most spritual of U2's ventures, but for pure musical genius; both Boy and War roast October for the early work.

  • The greatest thing about them is they would be just as passionate if they were singing in your living room as to a packed stadium....

  • wow...

  • you guys are sooo full of it. he is so powerful now in the world. What an amazing individual!!! I saw him in concert in Miami and it was the best and I have been to all his shows in the states.

  • small atage = energy!

  • Yea! They were so good back then. Lost all their energy now.

  • Lost the hair too!

    ;-)

Ahh to be young again. They're lucky that they were so young and had so much talent, achieved so much success, it's a rare thing.

  • Aww, that's not true. I've seen them twice in the past ten years and they're as good as ever.

  • ya, thier also goin on 50 .. so understandable

  • sounded good then--sounds good now--always will sound good.

  • 2 , 3 , 4 ... amazing video .. el mejor grupo del mundo .. muy buena cancion en vivo y en studio .. Bono mostrando siempre fuerza y sentimiento .. VIVA U2!!
