i am a farang from USA and even i know what Isaan is or Esan some people spell. which is genreally used to descibe the northeast region of Thailand. and thsi is Thai country music not POP. or you like this music, i recomend listening to Tai Orathai, she is my favorite Isaan artist, and very suay. I spent 2 months this year in Isaan. Mukdahan to be exact. The people are the friendliest you will find anywhere in the world. if you have not been to Isaan, you should put it on your list of places 2go

That's the popular name for Thailand's northeastern region, where most of the people speak a dialect similar to Lao (neighbouring country), also a lot of ethnic Khmer along the provinces bordering Cambodia, and other linguistic groups. It's the poorest region of Thailand, but rich in music and culture (and their food is yummy)...
