Do u know how to turn it on and off I bought a Vado from a guy and he said press it 1-2 seconds and let go and it'll turn on I tried that but nothing works it only turns on when I connect it to my computer
Have you heard or tried VirtualDub with Deshaker plugin to help stabilize the shaky videos coming from hand held video cameras? If so, could you do a tutorial on how to use it, specifically with the Vado HD? If not, you should check out the video comparisons of before and after using VirtualDub with the Deshaker plugin here on youtube. You may want to use them for your videos.
Thank you for your review. For the sound, I will probably use my iPhone to record myself and add it to the montage because I found that when you are more than 3 feet from the camera, the sound isn't very clear. Also I didn't find any way to see myself while filming (to frame myself proprely) - no video preview on my computer or TV.
Great video and review. I had an idea for a tripod. You could use a block with a triangular wedge and route a groove out of the top where the camera could sit.
I had the Zoom recording as I filmed with the Vado. Then when I edited the Vado clips using Movie Maker, I dropped in the audio file I made with the zoom and then dragged it to just the right spot so it synced up perfectly.
Hi there OtherMic, cool review. I watched Davyo's review and found his very good as well. But one thing nobody is addressing much that I noticed tech review mention was you can/have the option to use this as a Webcam? How so? Curious, that reviewer also stated a tripod(one thing everyone has mentioned so far with this cam) I'm having a tough time deciding between this, kodak Zi8, sony bloggie, samsung MX, kodak playsport lol cool review.
Also, before I forget you're the one reviewer out of everyone I've wached so far to mention that toxic warning thing? I've seen that on Cobra brand walkie talkies lol with lead or something...so this actually concerns me a little bit. I read the silikon case is for protection for the camera(not the person lol) but now your point makes me wonder haha
Thanks man. Yea, Davyo's review is what inspired me to make my review. I've been meaning to make more reviews of various items lately (using my vado) but I've been lazy. Reviews on youtube can be so helpful. I haven't heard about the Webcam potential of the Vado. Perhaps that is for a more current model? I haven't been researching these pocket camcorders lately so I can't help you with your decision. I've been obsessed with my new phone lately, the Droid Incredible.
The Prop 65 Warning is due to the USB Extention Cord not the actual Vado, just FYI. Great review vid btw. The first Gen seem to be the best choice, From 1st to 3rd Gen they haven't improved a thing, just added more gimmicks and lowered video quality.
VERY good review/demo by someone, for a change, not spastic or aesthetically retarded.
Seems like the G1 and G2 Vado HD's have ever so slightly saturated greens and reds, giving the ultra sharp image a warmer, more filmish quality, better looking, to my eye, than with the latest G3 model, where Creative have 'corrected' this, resulting in arguably more 'natural' yet decidedly blander colors.
And hurrah for the Frisco footie! Looking beautiful.
My wait of computer was a real pain *lol* first 4 weeks of waiting just to get the notice that there was no computer comming because of sold out and a obsolete modell so they was not making any new ones... So i got the offer of the newer modell and had wait 4 more weeks *hehe* Now thats a suffer of waiting *lol*
Thank you for your review. I'm looking for a pocket size HD camcorder and stuck between the HD Flip, Kodak Zi8 & Vado but I think you've got me sold!
One question - referring to your 2nd video - did you try Sony Vegas? I've used Vegas for years - and have never had a problem - even with H.264 files or true HD AVCHD files.
I have a true 1920 x 1080 HD (Panasonic) for the important footage and just want something I can have in my pocket for those 'moments' ya want to capture.
I think I paid around $160 for it 7 months ago and now you can get them for $99. Damn. I bet cell phones will have video with comparable quality in the next year or two.
A terrific review! Great to see somebody putting together such a well thought through review. Would love to know your thoughts on which is better, the Vado HD or the Flip Mino HD.
What video software did you use to produce your video here. Was it the software that came with the Vado? Just bought one and waiting for it to arrive.
I think that the Mic polar pattern has been adjusted to coincide with the wider angle lens. The Zoom H4 playback level sounded a little lower to me compared to the Vado, but the Vado sounds better than I expected. I have a H2 and was planning to use them in tandem.
Thanks for your videos, very helpful, have ordered a Vardo..
ok can someone help me? i need to decide between the sanyo xacti cg10 and the creative vado hd and i don't know which one is better.... the sanyo has much better zoom and takes 10 mp pictures, but the vado is much cheaper and has better low light quality..... i need help!!
I just got my vado in the mail from newegg. That plastic tab on the bottom I might cut off so it will sit level. Or Ill get some styro foam and cut a little piece out for the nub to go.
Or ill just go to office max and grab there tri pod for 5.99
Beautiful scenery, great tips, all around excellent video review.
Zooming totally degrades the HD and sound is almost non existent at a distant but I absolutely love my Vado HD and learned to work around these issue's.
Thanks! Yea, all the videos on my page are shot with the Vado HD. I mainly got it to do acoustic guitar songs but I keep finding other things to use it for.
Haha, that would be ironic. I much prefer the way it looks without the silicone cover but it definitely protects it. I've dropped it numerous times already and still no damage.
good price indeed, i got mine for £98+£10 shipping. got it on ebay, but it is imported from the us so warranty for me is non existent , just hope nothing goes wrong. i could not find it anywhere in the uk online shops or high street other than ebay. but glad i got it, i like it so far.
Cool, I think you'll like it. I forgot to mention in my review how easy it is to use. Btw, I've never burned the files onto a dvd but I'm pretty sure it would work fine.
Just bought a Vado HD for my father. Will definitely pass these trips and tricks along to him (might get one for myself too). Thanks! Will subscribe in case you have any future advice.
Good review and nice video quality! I also dont like the silicone case. I use my Vado HD with only a silver "Travel Pouch" from Creative. I agree that the sound quality isn't excellent compared to some other HD cams available today, but I prefer having great video quality with a little loss in audio quality. The best part is the wide angle lens.
Very good review, and I loved the footage you used to test the Vado HD on, particularly the waves on the rocks! I agree the Vado HD audio sounds pretty good until you compare it to your audio recorder, lol.
I definitely think this review will help anyone who's thinking about getting one - you covered everything I can think of.
Thanks man. I just listened to it again and yea, the guitar and vocals sound pretty good even through the headphones, but that static sound happens even I'm just talking during the review. I can't notice it without the headphones though.
The difference I notice in sound quality isn't any kind of static, really - it's that the Vado HD picks up highs and mids, but like ZERO bass. Your audio recorder picked up a lot of bass and gave the guitar a fuller sound - but then, we're talking about a tiny little condenser on the Vado, lol, so I'm content with the quality it gives!
Thanks Davyo! Your review inspired me to make mine (and get the Vado HD in the first place). But now I want the Ultra HD too. I'm becoming a "video camera junky" too. Haha. I tried posting it to your review but I already posted it somewhere else and now it won't let me. Shoot.
Excellent review and insight. I have the Vado HD and I was thinking of getting that cheap plastic tripod on Amazon until I saw your review. I'm going to look for a better one.
