  • If those lines were old enough to have the glass insulators (or even the nice looking porcelain ones), PLEASE tell me someone is going to try and save them! I've never been lucky enough to find any as most lines are long gone down here, but I have seen lots up your way before.

  • @murrfarms I was the one saving them. I came home with over 200 of them. Maybe is should make a video of my collection sometime. A lot of the lines are coming down up here as well. The only "in service" lines around here that i can think of is one in LaPorte, IN, Monticello, IN, and in Holland, MI that I see every time i go to WSS. This line has been out of service since the mid 1980's is what the CN guy said. Sad to see this piece of history go.

  • @murrfarms We also came home with crossarms, and a trailer full of open wire poles for display in the backyard. Might as well when you cant find it in the real world anymore. In 20 years, people will be curious as of what open wire actually was. And i forgot, The South Shore has a lot of open wire left from Michigan City, IN to Hudson Lake, IN. Sadly though, it wont be there much long as N.I.P.S.CO. is putting in new service drops for new signals along the line.
