Although I like U2 and this song, the problem with the band is The Edge, his guitar skills are pretty average and he's relied on a U2 'sound' for 20 odd years and he's never developed his technique so their songs are starting to sound a bit 'samey'. And before I get bombarded with with hate responses, I'm talking from a technical perspective, the rest of the band are very talented...not The Edge...he's average.

And that is how society appreciate art and true genius is recognized. The Edges' superb control of tone defines his style not speed or killer shreds. My two cents!

@baconbriefs Fair enough, however it's not about speed or killer shreds, I'm not talking about that. His 'superb control of tone' on the same 5 notes is not talent. A fact for you, a complete novice can take guitar lessons and practice for an hour every day and in 6 months he will be able to master The Edge's entire repertoire and 'control of tone'...so does that make The Edge that good? No it doesn't and the simple fact is he barely knows one scale and he sounds the same on every track.

In fact, we have only 8 notes to play with? Its the scales that goes up or down but it is of the same form. Music should not be exclusive but inclusive.

You want to see a REAL musician and guitarist then check out Bireli Lagrene...he is the best that has been and ever will be, or Mike Stern or my personal heroes Joe Satriani and Gary Moore. The hedge isn't even good enough to hold their guitars.
