Such a wonderful scene. Great acting. Great script. Great Editing. Great everything. It all came together so beautiful. So powerful. I was in tears when I saw this in the theater.
This movie's events are so disturbing...You view it once and remember it for a lifetime. It really is the depiction of humans being treated as animals and treating others as animals. What a vicious cycle.
Mariah's character is probably thinking, "Shit, sorry I asked!!" I used to be a social worker in the Walled Lake, MI area......dealing mostly with the trailer parks communities, mostly! There's a freakin reason I drove for 45 minutes to get there instead of driving 3 minutes to one of the Detroit offices!! The actual ghetto is what I really didn't want to penetrate into! THANK GOD I'm NOT a social worker anymore!
Honestly one of the best performances ever given. Blew me away. If she didn't win the Oscar - there'd be something seriously wrong with the world. Good job M'onique.
This scene is just too powerful. It really reflects how sometimes women of color (not just Black women) internalize the message they get from society everyday - that they are just objects to be taken advantage of, and they take pride in being that object when it is all they are limited to - it is that kind of limit that leads some women to the type of insanity we're witnessing in Mo'nique's brilliant performance.
What an apt metaphor - the man sucking the milk that truly belonged to his child.
i'm italian, I watched this movie in original version and I felt shocked.. the italian version doesnt get how sick and evil is this woman..her voice.. the things she said.. it's a horror movie!! Mo'nique was so good in that role!!!
@moninblue lol totally agree.I'm wiping my eyes right now after watching that.Monique's character in this movie is quite loathsome but in this scene I really felt sorry for her. Moniqque deserves every award she got for this role.
