This was an original Big Joe Williams song in 1935... check yourselves before wrecking yourselves making false accusations as to who stole it from who... LMAO
@nostradamross Ted didn't exactly steal it. Many bands did covers of each others' material back then... it was considered a compliment. You wanna go after real thieves of the era, try Led Zep. They pretty shamelessly ripped off Willie Dixon and a host of others. But the music sure was great!
@HallPassExpired listen to big joe williams version of this song and listen to the arrangement by van morrison and them. ted nugent stole the version put together by them shitbrain.
@MrGarybrady No funnily enough listening to the radio I guess it didn't but the 60's opened the door to a lot of styles and unfortunately GREEDY people sat and controlled it towards the death I was listening to on that very radio I just mentioned.
Still some good stuff out there but it's a search.
have seen ted 20 times since the 70's he is great..
but I never heard this version of this before....ted's tasty licks are perfect!!!
great rock and roll tune!!!
As big of a fan as I am of ted...I think his best stuff is when he has a lead singer...and he just melts on the axe....Derek St. Holms,,Charlie Huhn and Ted...now that is great American Rock and Roll!!!
Great tune, I got to see Ted and the Dukes at small clubs in Detroit back in the 60s. Check out Scottish Tea, obscure but very sweet. Too bad he's turned into such a dochebag.
Saw these guys in 1968 in Atlanta with Jimi Hendrix. Believe me, they kicked f*cking ass and came back a few months later with the Vanilla Fudge and did it again, stealing the show. This was my fave song, even tho the Journey to the Center of the Mind was their big hit. It's amazing the old boy Nugent is still kicking ass these days, altho I'd have never believe that he would've made that hard right turn.
@LesbianVampireLover Ted made a hard right turn because he loves this country....and we are loosing it to a bunch of sissies that don't understand that free enterprise is what pays for our compassionate charities...not giving to those who do not work and taking from those who do.. that is just foolish and does not work... look at Detroit?? shithole....once was great... and God Bless him for making a stand!! God Bless The U.S.A. !!! I am a veteran I get it!! so does Ted!!
@mightybeeb Yeah, too many people have their head in the sand these days. I'm an Army Aviation software engineer, so I support our military. The last thing we need is more political correctness these days. Like Charlie Daniels, Nugent is skewered in some quarters. I was in Nashville at the Country Freedom Concert right after 9/11 and the promoters pulled CDB at the last minute because they feared he would be ranting on live TV. No guts.
I first heard this song when I was 5. I was staring at the radio speakers transfixed on every note. When it ended my mother said "What's wrong with you?" And I couldn't tell her what I'd just experienced.
I saw them in concert, if you could call that a concert, once in 1967 and twice in 1968. They blew the place away. I was lucky to grow up in the 60's. You had to be there.
