It's a shame this show never got as popular as dragon ball z when it aired on cartoon network around 2001. Very underrated. Back then people were so obsessed with dbz that it overshadowed this anime. Then again dbz overshadowed all animes/shows at the time. It was the latest craze LOL.

More ratings than DBZ if you can believe that :) That is until Chapter Black...ppl wanted more action rather than an amazing mystery. And Most fans never had the opportunity to watch The Three Kings Saga..because of the new Time slot at 5:30 in the morning..well here in Cali anyway lol Only hand full of ppl watched the whole thing through...if you ask someone

One of the pioneers of anime ... this and DBZ is what my childhood is all about...

one funny thing is that this anime is very close to the plot of bleach...

Soul Soc = Spirit world... hueco mundo = demon world... yusuke dying then gets stronger = ichigo dies gets stronger.. Demon blood = Hollow powers.. but to me Yusuke is more badass than ichigo... yusuke doesnt have much drama than ichigo...or rather ichigo is more emotional while yusuke is more badass :D

@1dbzmaster As for the OVAs (or OAVs), it is called "Eizou Hakusho". It refers to the OAVs for Yu Yu Hakusho. Unlike most OAVs however, these mainly consisted of clip shows of battles with the character's image songs playing in the background (i.e. Wild Wind and Tasogare ni se wo Mukete). There are some video clips that show what happened to everybody. There are only 8 episodes to this OAV.

@yea12326 the ending scene is almost the same in manga and anime. Some variations exist but both endings have the same theme. In the manga ending, keiko learns that yusuke made a confession that she is his "goddess" and that he really loves her.

After that, keiko chases yusuke and plays with him on the beach (it can also be assumed that they kissed also in the end of the manga; there is a scene where they are pictured together too far in the beach)

some "filler" chapters in the manga (not part of over-all story) are removed when it is adapted in the anime. But the scenes and the over-all theme in the end of both the manga and the anime are the same: both taking place in a beach, yusuke uniting with keiko and playing in the beach, etc.

As for the kiss in the manga: It is highly probable that they did it in the scene where they are far out in the beach (in the manga's last chap), AS is clarified in this last episode of the anime :D

(for example, the hostage incident where yusuke and the others rescued koenma near the end of the manga; it is not adapted in the anime and even if it is not, it did not destroy the over-all THEME of the story). Yeah, but after reading your comment, I thought it is not best to label them as "filler". Thanks also for the insight.

The first and last episodes of this series are perfect. I love the others. I got a little tired at the beginning of Chapter Black Saga and the Dark Tournament sometimes went on and on, but it was really a great series. And this was a great end to it.

I was lucky enough to get season 4's single dvd's, with the voice actor commentary for the last episode. "Forever Fornever" Always in my heart. This was truly a classic. @liefek the art's not bad it's old. it's the story line, voice acting, interpretation. this show doesn't watch like other animes do there no reservation to the voice acting. if the actors wanna scream their lungs out into the microphone they do it. Makes the show more emotional. probably the only series that's gets me so wiled up at the fight scenes that I shriek when the episode ends in the middle of a major plot twist

@liefek The series art is not that bad really, just has that awkward "detailed, but not really" look of older animes. Personally I perfer to say the art of Bleach or Naruto which do not look like they have even HALF the effort of YYH. The show could be a bit tedious but the characters and plots were all wonderful enough to keep people hooked. The characters had a tendency to grow on you and they developed in a well paced manner, unlike some anime's do.

@liefek I don't watch newer anime (or a lot of anime at all, really) but a lot of the newer shows I've glanced at, the artwork is "better". I guess, but it all seems very sterile and samey. You can keep it.

I don't know why people say this show has bad artwork, seems fine to me. Admittedly, I don't have an eye for these things, though. I just don't see the point of getting worked up about art, I'll take a good storyline over fancy artwork any day of the week.

Besides, it had a very good run, four seasons in fact! And I'd rather have four great seasons than 9 seasons with 2/3 of it being filler. *cough* *cough*...DBZ...*cough* *cough*
