Yamanote line is GREAT! When I was in Tokyo, I Used it a lot! All districts are great! :D I was staying in Ikebukuro, but my favorites are Shibuya and Akihabara, really opposites hehe.

I find the yamanote line was good for stations close together. The private lines are much more convinient and quicker for cross-town travel.
