Great video, Ciaela. I remember taking the overnight ferry from Tokyo to Fukuoka with my eventual wife back in 1988 and touring Kyushu by car. As college students we stayed in youth hostels and were on a very tight budget, but created some great memories, as I'm sure you just did... And the ferries haven't changed a bit! We also had to carve out space to lie down amongst all the other passengers...

So far in Japan, my favorite vacation spot is Tokushima, in the little town of Iya in the mountains. So many amazing onsens, mountains, and random things to see. Well worth the drive to Shikoku!!

@GmasterRED I can't speak for everyone else, but the reason WE were hoping to lie down there was because we had been up since six thirty packing, driving to the port, checking in for our departure at 9am, and since it's 2 hours to Iki Island we had until 11am to catch up on sleep and rest.

But families and children beat us to it, so we ended up just sitting in chairs outside.

My favourite vacation spot? I'm not sure I have one... I think I need to go on more holidays to figure it out haha :) But I quite like Margaret River, it's a 2-3 hour drive south of my city. There's lots of nice places to eat and lots of trees. Because it's quite far and mobile phone reception is intermittent it really feels like a getaway from life.

@yumyumsesame Yeah, there wasn't any cell-phone service on the island either. No outside communication, so it was really nice. Night time on the beach was especially romantic, tons of stars, fireworks in the distance, and the moon was the only light source--could barely see anything.

I love the beach at night. I live about 15 mins from the beach and if I'm ever really stressed out about something I like to just go and sit and listen to the waves. There usually isn't anyone around at night unless someone's having a bbq. Really relaxing. I think the bigness of it all puts my little problems into perspective. @Jimaera Yeah, we ate the sazae, but of course, it was dead by the time we did. It was kind of bitter tasting? Not my favorite. I don't mind tako though. Tako is a lot easier to eat than ika (squid.) IMO.

@Ciaela Yeah, when you showed it on the grill I figured sazae-zushi wasn't the idea XD That's probably fortunate- for the two of you as well as the sazae. I agree about tako; I actually really like it. I'm not a big fan of ika either. Never tried sazae, but I guess it's like escargot, huh? Toddatron showcases the stuff in one of his more recent videos, but the place he goes serves it in its shell so you can't really see the meat. Great vid, thanks for posting!
