It's very rare when a remake is not only TRUE to the original jam, but also at the same time entirely UNIQUE to it's Generations voice. I do Love the original, but this version often floats up to the top of my playlist. Way to be, Mr Don Was....18 years after the first time I heard it - I STILL Love, love, Love THIS song!
Don Was is a great producer with lots of hits--like Love Shack--and he's rockin' (bass) on with his bro who writes the lyrics we hear in the high quality rap segment of this classic tune.
i heard this song on my boombox 20 years ago they performed this live in studio and it still stuck with me. i dont know who did the original but this has to be the best remake ever. casualalien is right what happened to them? they were so good but they flashed out as quick as they came
They did a summer tour, and word is they are gearing up for another run this summer. the problem is, in this day and age its hard to make money touring with 8 people! get people to show up to shows and youll bee seeing alot more of Was Not Was! Ill try to get tour dates ASAP. Buy the new album BOO! on I tunes now. 15 years of work from the band during their long hiatus! features a guest vocal from kris kristofferson!

Same guys. Believe it or not. They also got Ozzy Osbourne to "rap" (sorta), and did a great song with Mel Torme.
