@antipodeandreason yup. i searched frenetically for this tab for like 1½ years earlier.. then i gave up. another year later i saw someone had added it to that old ass site :P
@antipodeandreason Hi, I've tried finding this tune on classictab org site but can't find it. The link ending carillo_como_llora_una_estrella doesn't work. Please help. If I knew the name of the composer, that would help.
@antipodeandreason I think it's Antonio Carrillo. There does not appear to be a full proper transcript of it just a site with TAB that someone a few comments back on this vid named for us.Sorry, been looking myself for the sheet music.
Australians do make excellent guitars, better than most Spaniards. At least Australian luthiers redefined the approach in classical guitar construction in late 20th century. John Williams once commented about it (you can Google it), and have chosen to go that way. Before meeting with John Williams mr Smallman was an unknown man. Apart from him, I personally like guitars made by Richard Howell from Melbourne and Jim Redgate from South Australia.
hello, can anyone tell me the name of the guitar John Williams uses on the recording of Concierto de Aranjuez, I mean the guitar with the structure inside which looks similar to the cells inside a bee nest. Thanks!!!
I think you are talking about the guitars made by australian luthier Greg Smallman - There is a great DVD called "The Seville Concert" which has John and Greg discussing the guitars structure
they can be if you acution them but made by him its $25,000 austrailian dollers and a 10 year waiting list i found his contact i got it through john williams which was almost imposible to get his number but i found out that its 25000 dollers exactly not worth all the money just for a guitar
es una buena version, pero se nota que es norteamericano, el que escucho a Alirio Diaz, interpretar este tema debe reconocer la calidad de este último y el sentimiento en su ejecucion, no obstante John es muy bueno .
It seems as though you have to be loaded to even listen to classical guitar these days. How very sad! That Fleta must have been very much a"one-off".I've never heard a nylon-strung to compare for clarity and dynamic range-certainly not a Ramirez. If,by chance, some viewers aren't stockbrokers,Moondog sell a lattice-braced for£800.There are no separation probs whatsoever with my steel strung, but I've no idea whether their classical sounds as good.
No. You don't ahve to be loaded to listen but it seems you do have to be loaded to buy a nice instrument. You can get a decent quality steel string instrument for 1500 bucks and rant and rave about how great it is You can't do that with a classical. If you don't have at least 3000 bucks, you're screwed. That's the low end of concert models. Some guitars out there cost 14 to 20 grand brand new.
You have to remember it is also a matter of taste. They are completely different sounding guitars and so different qualities about them will attract different players.
Beautiful music and played so beautifully and perfectly John williams is amazing but his Guitar sounds Artificial and lacks the beauty of more traditional guitars.
The clarity is not from the instrument, that's Williams. Smallmans have terrible string seperation and are as murky as mud (I've played many and one of my best friends has one and willingly concedes this). Despite this, Williams always sounds good but never as good as when he played a Fleta.
Well, I guess I have discovered yet another reason to admire the man then. He really is a master of the instrument. Is the lack of good separation common to all lattice instruments or just the Smallmans? I've been eying some instruments by one Kris Barnett but haven't made up my mind yet.
(1/2) In my opinion yes, but it depends who you ask. The tops are very thin and have a slow response, which means the upper harmonics are not as prevalent (the opposite of a flamenco which has a very fast response and a bright tone). This means it is easier to make a thick, powerful, dark tone but you lose something in the richness and clarity of the sound. In my experience, you can always make an ok sound on a lattice even with bad nails (they hide nail noise well) but never a great sound.
(2/2) Have you played or heard a Simon Marty? They use a radial bracing with carbon fibre and have the power of a lattice but the clarity and tone of a traditional. There is a new maker in Australia, Robin Moyes, who is making very similar guitars and they are still less than $6,000. He was an apprentice of Marty or did some work in Martys workshop apparently. The Kris Barnett guitars look ok but beware cheap lattice. But at the end of the day its you that has to be happy with the guitar.
Yeah, there's a Marty up for sale on eBay. Drooled over it for a while and then had to tear myself away from the page. I can't afford it and it was depressing me. Guy wants 9000 bucks American. Worth it, I suppose, but way out of my meager means. Got a wife and child. Guess I'll go with a lower priced fleta. Any experience with Arturo Huipe and Francisco Navarro?
None at all but I had a look at some just now. They look like good copies of traditional styles at a reasonable price. Where was the guy selling the Marty from? I bought one over the web from the US last year. Amazing guitar!
He's in the Catskills which is an offshoot of the Appalachian mountains. New york, I think. Oh, and he wants 0875 for it. I'll send you the link to your inbox if you want to see it. Or, just type Simon Marty Brazilian Rosewood in the search for ebay and you'll see it. Guy claims it's a specially braz rw in the guitar.
I have a guitar by Kris. I am not an expert by any means and still pretty new to classical guitar. My guitar instructor considers it equal to her guitar, if not a bit better. Her guitar has standard bracing. I have found that there is considerable ability to get different tonal colors from the instrument. Don't know if that helps.
Actually, I got outbid on the Barnett. I was able to secure a LoPrinzi. I'm waiting for it to arrive on Thursday. We'll just ahve to see how it does. Bit nervous. First time purchase of a guitar I've never heard. Everything I've read about LoPrinzi and his instruments has been very favorable so, we'll see.
Wonderful playing ,absolutely superb.I also dislike the Smallman it is very powerful but does not sound like a good spanish guitar like Fleta or Ramirez.

The tune is magnificent, but the weird rhythm spoils it, it's all over the place.
I've been trying to get hold of a decent tab of it, so I can try re-working it with a regular rhythm.

@key2kingdom Once you get used to arhythmic pieces you'll this to be more beautiful to the next "normal" metered piece.

Quizás deba escuchar sus interpretaciones de la música de Agustín Barrios Mangoré.
Maestro Williams, un saludo reverente.
