wow i commented on other videos about this situation and almost resighted this EXACT process.I was only ever stopped once and it was very smooth and professional both by myself & the officer. Infact both thanked me for my professionalism. I was taught this and this video should have 100M views atleast. This is very professional and very responsible of the CCW holder. What a GREAT VIDEO!
A couple of things. First, I live in a state that has Constitutional Carry, and does not issue permits/licenses to carry. This is ignored by most of these videos. Second, the safest place for a loaded gun to be is in its holster. Having an officer remove it to "secure it" during a traffic stop endangers me, the officer, and everybody else in the area. Most officers are not familiar with every type of gun they may encounter, and the risk of a negligent discharge is greatly increased.
IMHO the seizure of my firearm during a traffic stop violates the 4th A. Unless there is RAS or PC a crime is being, or going to be committed there is no reason to steal a law abiding persons' weapon.
@N3SQV1 You make a good point, however..The officer did say that if there is a reason to ask the driver to step out of the car, it is for something more than just a broken tail light. Also, the cop is not "stealing" the drivers gun, he is seizing it until he can determine whether or not the driver is impaired in any way that may affect gun owners judgement. Yeah, broken tail light, being told to step out and put hands against the car is a problem but a DUI stop is entirely different.
Really helpful to have Mas explain the point of view and psychology of not mentioning "GUN!". I memorized his phrase, I am licensed to carry. I really respect law enforcement, how dangerous their job is, and only want to make it obvious I am in compliance. By the way, the last time I was pulled over, I had my license, registration and proof of insurance cards in both hands on the window sill before he approached my vehicle. Actually cooperation really helps set up good respectful rapport.
EXACTLY, its the fucking youngsters officers that think that they are gods when they put that badge on. They walk around like they are the terminator himself.
Why the driver always need to be the good guy? Police officers also need to be good guys. WE are ALL citizen of this Country. What about if you follow all those procedure and still the Bad officer make a fucking big deal for nothing? That happened here in FL. When my father told the officer about his gun and showed his license, but still the cop took all his magazines and drop all his bullets on his car floor, as a preventive measure. My father did not have any in his record at all.
This is maybe random for my county, but particuarly at night the deputy announces on the loud speaker "DRIVER step out of the vehicle" and you kinda meet him half way. Should I tell him right away, I have a CCW and am carrying or wait till he goes through the whole little speech they give.
@dagoaliesniper dear faggot, i never said that you shouldnt step out of your ride if the pig askes you to. i know my rights and i would not consent to searches so FUCK YOU MOTHERFUCK!!! you could have just said the last two sentences instead of insulting me for no reason via strawman argument
so what the fuck do you tell the thug in blue when you have a gun in your car but no ccw? you dont need to tell the pig (in my state VA) that you have a gun but if i did need to tell him how would I do it? there is no card for open carry, or should i just pass him a copy of the constitution, lol?
@obamasucksdick99 As of July 1, 2010, a concealed handgun permit is not necessary when carrying a handgun while in a personal, private motor vehicle or vessel and such handgun or rifle is secured in a container or compartment in the vehicle or vessel.
@gunitup234 well ok... but how do you tell the pig that you have a gun without saying the G word? or should you just not tell him until he askes you to step out, and your outside the car? i dont have a ccw but would like to be open carrying. also please tell me what law says you dont need a ccw for concealing a gun in your car, i've been trying to find it and my friends dont believe me when i tell them you dont need a ccw to do that
@obamasucksdick99 go to the main gunitup234 channel and go to the link website handgunlaw us and click on Virginia on the us map. A pdf document spawns and summarizes everything. read it and know it. In addition remember everything on the gunitup234 channel are opinions not legal advice but this information in my opinion will certainly help you with open carry.
I actually had a different experience than this, I live in PA, I have a permit, it involved my dog, normal traffic stop, and me having to leave my gun in the car with my dog and staying behind my car with another officer to verify gun wasn't stolen
lol when I get pulled over they just let me go, I know mostly everyone in the Guam police department because they are almost 2/3rd national guardsmen. I do have a conceal license, is it legal for me to have a firearm in the glovebox?
@ausdude77 Not always... sometimes mentioning it raises the level of alarm. For one, cops should ALWAYS assume someone is armed, ANYWAY. But, if he doesn't ask, I ain't bringing it up. Same in Missouri, when I was pulled over last for a tail light out. I didn't bring it up, he didnt ask.. he told me my light was out.. oh, oops, ok I'll get it fixed, and I was on my way.
The issue with legal open carry in the states that allow for it, is that there needs to be new procedure on how calls are received and responded to by the 911 operator. The current method is to send officers to intercept the citizen and requesting the showing of I.D. for which no law has been broken. The dispatcher should first make sure that the caller is aware that a person has a legal right to open carry in that state and then determine whether or not the individual seems to pose a threat.
The laws are in consent change a cross the country. The state of Texas no longer requires a person to give notice that they have a gun in the vehicle or on their person. Where it is now a law in the state of New Mexico that a citizen is not only required to give notice and allow for the officer to secure the weapon until the duration of the stop. This officer is trying to convince the viewers that it is prudent to use the the word "registered". The American people are not registered gun owners.
Unless the stop is elevated to an aresst or detention the officer has no authority to take possesion of your weapon. This is the misconception that the individual is automatically a potential threat. In Michigan the officers can run your plate and they know before they approach you that you are a CPL holder. TheHossUSMC is also correct..NEVER consent to a search even if you know you have not done anything wrong. It is your 4th Amendment right. Use it or loose it!!
Great Vid. My biggest concern would be actually reaching for both licenses, which I'd keep in my pants pocket, at which point the gun would reveal itself first.
@uwmbigb In that situation, it would probably be best to tell the officer, he'll probably ask you to step out of the car so he can watch you get the licenses. Or just keep the licenses in a different pocket or in the glovebox
@paul1967uk Not when you are being arrested or searched by an LEO. Even if it is an illegal search, it is still not assault. Either way, remember to argue with police in court not on the street
Now in Texas, especially with state troopers they ask to search your car 100% of the time, it's sad, some of the local boys don't but State cops will every single time without fail.
@BudtheMainah anytime we can share information with everyone we do it just to help everyone exercise their rights without problems the gunitup234 channel cares about the right of women and being able to defend themselves from the bad guys! : )
The firearm is my property PERIOD unless the officer has the authority to take possession of my property then HE is breaking the law. Never consent to searches and rarely tell the officer anything outside of the reason why he is detaining you.
@TheHossUSMC everyone I agree 100% with Hoss. Never consent to a search and let the officer know that you do not consent to the seizure of your weapon and find out if your local laws require you to comply to the seizure of your weapon during a traffic stop.
how do we know the cop is a good guy? and please dont say uniform and badge lol they hand those out to morons everyday
