Plant has rightfully earned his right to go back to his roots. And has done so in style. This is the kind of music he was listening to as a kid. . Led Zeppelin will always be a part of his life (and countless others). To witness such a great talent come full circle is almost beyond words. Free him from your expectations, and you might find an artist who has grown, and done many a genre of music proud.
Thank you Plant for not being afraid of finding more ways to stay in an old Zeppers life I have always thought that no matter what you did you were always great at it also thank s to Allison
His name is Percy Thank You Very Much :). Trust me when I say this: He is loving this style much more. It is Led Zeppelin Inspired. I know this. I used to go to clubs in the LA area and hear these jazz musicains play live - up close - they are truly amazing - Larry Carlton, The Rippintons (Russ Freeman), David Benoit, Lee Ritenour, Wishful Thinking, etc, etc They are the cream of the crop.
ooo i hate most country too. it's really crappy stuff repeated over and over again. I like bluegrass and old timey cause it's different and original. country pop isn't bad either
which one? the jazz pianist or the jazz fusion artist? My hometown is Durham, North Carolina but I lived in Chicago for 5 years and now I live in Austin. I have a really developed sense of music. I love jazz even though most people I know hate it.
I believe that I have heard the name bandied about. I've heard bluegrass from time to time - it's OK. I don't care to follow it - it's not my thing. I really dislike country - that crap from Nashville makes me ill. I lived in LA most of my life - there is so much good music there - rock, blues, west coast jazz...... Have you ever heard of Russ Freeman?
I don't understand how you've never heard of Alison Krauss if you really like music. Even if you don't follow bluegrass. She started Union Station and she's in the Grand ole Opry. She's been in movies like Oh, brother where art thou, The prince of egypt, Divine secrerts of the ya-ya sisterhood, Alias, & Cold Mountain She performed at the Academy Awards and she's been awarded 26 grammy awards making her the most awarded female in grammy history and the third most awarded artist in grammy history.
I never said Krauss sucked - I just never heard of her - maybe because I don't follow bluegrass - I'm sure she is good at it. Read my frickin comment instead of making ASSumptions.
that a boy robert still macking the younger ladies at 65... lol i know hes married... sounds good, it just shows how well rounded of a musician plant is, he is not only an amazing lead singer he is also an amazing harmonist and back vocalist. good on you man... i still wish that their was still last zeplin tour... hey man shes not a bitch, you're just jealous because you dont get to sing with him. lol jks i can totally understand why she wants to sing with him... but i get your point two pfp G
Just because you never heard of someone doesn't mean they suck, the fact that so many of you dismiss Krauss just because she's a bluegrass singer just displays your complete lack of maturity. Of course, what do you expect from a website whose core demographic is 12 to 18 year olds.
The Grammy's have become a joke over the years - they don't mean shit. Krauss has all these Grammy's - mostly because of the bluegrass niche. But here's a fact: Many "legend" artists have NEVER been awarded a grammy including Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Doors, Diana Ross, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Grateful Dead, etc, etc, etc. These were ground-breaking artists that changed music history. I never heard of Krauss before her involvement with Plant.
By the way, I did catch a video on YouTube - one I've never seen - from the reunion in 1990 of Plant and Page - "Wearing and Tearing". Great Jimmy Page guitar riff. The guy was so ingenious.
Of course - Robert can do whatever he wants - he's probably tired of the "hard rocker" stigma - and probably can't sing quite like that anymore without tearing up his vocal chords. Luckily the old music still lives on and has stood the test of time - I'm happy with that.
yr point being? i friggin' love led zep, & this new music doesn't turn me on that much, but hey, it's robert's choice to walk down this path in his life. it's been almost 30 yrs, he's moved on, so why don't u?
the first time i heard this song my mom had the album and was playing it in the car, and i was like "OH MY GOD, mom, who's that guy singing?? he has such an amazing voice, who is he??"
OK Robert, this was fun - and you did well, at least commercially with this project. You proved you can do other things. But I would like to see you get back with Page and do some soulful rock and blues. It doesn't have to be like the old stuff - you can make it new and fresh.
I really don't give a hoot for Krauss and T-Bone. That stuff just doesn't turn me on.
Dear Odyssey54 -- the "nobody" playing guitar is T Bone Burnett one of the most famous music producers ever. He doesn't appear to be much of anything but....he produced Tony Bennett, k.d.lang, Counting Crows, etc., nominated for Oscar for Cold Mountain soundtrack -- a very talented and famous musician, producer and song writer. Too much detail to write here -- check him out in Wikipedia. And he's the guy who got Robert Plant and Alison Krauss together for this album!
I hope Robert Plant immensely enjoys all the music he puts out for the rest of his awesome life, for being one of the greatest rock musicians of all time!
No he didn't. An altogether other guy suggested to them both individually they might get together, they did, we're stuck at some point in as far as the material goes and then they called in T bone! Listen to the interviews!
I'm very happy that Robert is still making music 40 years after he made it big. This is a cool song, but it would be perfect if he coujld get Jimmy Page to play guitar instead of that nobody in the background there.
The 70's was my era. I bought the first Zeppelin albums on vinyl. God bless Robert Plant - for just being alive today. He wants to stay in the game and of course make more money. In the Grammy acceptance speech he said "in the old days we would have called it selling out". The guitarist is T-Bone Burnett - I never heard of him. For me the only "T-Bone" is T-Bone Walker, who was a legendary pioneer of blues and electric guitar. Who does this Burnett guy think he is?
If the 70"s is that much your era how come you don't know who T bone is? Considering he toured with Dylan in 74 and 75! Or maybe just like today, in the 70's you also stuck to only Led Zeppelin?
I'm a huge Led Zeppelin fan, and I'm glad to see that Robert Plant is still making some fine music, with a fine lady if I may say so! And the video... experimental... cool I guess.
you kidding me! it represents what the song is all about, siplicity, because we all need a balance between everything! Sometimes we want a pizza with onions pickles and bananas and sometimes we just want a burger, I rather have that burger now.

I like bluegrass and old timey cause it's different and original. country pop isn't bad either
oldtimeylvr38 2 years ago
which one? the jazz pianist or the jazz fusion artist? My hometown is Durham, North Carolina but I lived in Chicago for 5 years and now I live in Austin. I have a really developed sense of music. I love jazz even though most people I know hate it.
oldtimeylvr38 2 years ago
I believe that I have heard the name bandied about. I've heard bluegrass from time to time - it's OK. I don't care to follow it - it's not my thing. I really dislike country - that crap from Nashville makes me ill. I lived in LA most of my life - there is so much good music there - rock, blues, west coast jazz...... Have you ever heard of Russ Freeman?
j102753 2 years ago
I don't understand how you've never heard of Alison Krauss if you really like music. Even if you don't follow bluegrass. She started Union Station and she's in the Grand ole Opry. She's been in movies like Oh, brother where art thou, The prince of egypt, Divine secrerts of the ya-ya sisterhood, Alias, & Cold Mountain She performed at the Academy Awards and she's been awarded 26 grammy awards making her the most awarded female in grammy history and the third most awarded artist in grammy history.

I really don't like them that much, but I really like this song, I'm just not much into either of their style, but this is.. different?

i gotta admit, i was never a big alison kraus fan, but this record is great. and she's super-cute in this video.

I never said Krauss sucked - I just never heard of her - maybe because I don't follow bluegrass - I'm sure she is good at it. Read my frickin comment instead of making ASSumptions.

that a boy robert still macking the younger ladies at 65... lol i know hes married... sounds good, it just shows how well rounded of a musician plant is, he is not only an amazing lead singer he is also an amazing harmonist and back vocalist. good on you man... i still wish that their was still last zeplin tour... hey man shes not a bitch, you're just jealous because you dont get to sing with him. lol jks i can totally understand why she wants to sing with him... but i get your point two pfp G
demusicman001 2 years ago 2
Just because you never heard of someone doesn't mean they suck, the fact that so many of you dismiss Krauss just because she's a bluegrass singer just displays your complete lack of maturity. Of course, what do you expect from a website whose core demographic is 12 to 18 year olds.

Elvis also never got a grammy
hippiejamsession 2 years ago
The Grammy's have become a joke over the years - they don't mean shit. Krauss has all these Grammy's - mostly because of the bluegrass niche. But here's a fact: Many "legend" artists have NEVER been awarded a grammy including Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Doors, Diana Ross, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Grateful Dead, etc, etc, etc. These were ground-breaking artists that changed music history. I never heard of Krauss before her involvement with Plant.

ya and like 5 grammys dont hurt at all.everyone has to grow up sometime

By the way, I did catch a video on YouTube - one I've never seen - from the reunion in 1990 of Plant and Page - "Wearing and Tearing". Great Jimmy Page guitar riff. The guy was so ingenious.
j102753 2 years ago
Of course - Robert can do whatever he wants - he's probably tired of the "hard rocker" stigma - and probably can't sing quite like that anymore without tearing up his vocal chords. Luckily the old music still lives on and has stood the test of time - I'm happy with that.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Alison Krauss is a stupid bitch weighing down Robert who should be fronting the greatest tock and roll band to ever exist..

anja - were you around when Zeppelin first came out?
j102753 2 years ago
yr point being? i friggin' love led zep, & this new music doesn't turn me on that much, but hey, it's robert's choice to walk down this path in his life. it's been almost 30 yrs, he's moved on, so why don't u?
thisbirdisfree 2 years ago
how do you mean? If that would be the case, then she wouldn't say 'such thing'..?
SaraLovesFmac 2 years ago
Funny some people keep saying "Robert should do that and that, because this doesn't turn me on".
It's HIS life and he'll do what he wants to.

and then i found out it was robert hahah :]
i <3 zeppelin and i <3 this :)))

The only roots music I like is the blues.
j102753 2 years ago
They are simply amazing...both rare talents in there respective genres and truly special together.
Alison Krauss is wicked talented and beautiful. Robert Plant is...Robert Plant.

Of course Robert Plant is rich - we all
know that. It was never said that he
needed or was short of money. He
obviously wants to keep working, and of
course be compensated for that work.
I doubt that he would do this for free.
I hate when people take things out of
context. It's obtuse.
j102753 3 years ago
I'm sensing that there may be a liitle more
than just a professional relationship here.
I guess we will see. It's been fun I'm sure
but I hope Plant moves on to something
else - like get back with Jimmy Page and
write some good tunes - it doesn't have
to be like the old hard rock.stuff. But
I'll take Jimmy over old T-Bone anyday.

And he's the guy who got Robert Plant and Alison Krauss together for this album!
whitejadesings 3 years ago
Thanks for the info!
I hope Robert Plant immensely enjoys all the music he puts out for the rest of his awesome life, for being one of the greatest rock musicians of all time!
:) sssssssssssss!
beckycelebration 3 years ago
No he didn't. An altogether other guy suggested to them both individually they might get together, they did, we're stuck at some point in as far as the material goes and then they called in T bone! Listen to the interviews!
reddragonready 3 years ago
I'm very happy that Robert is still making music 40 years after he made it big. This is a cool song, but it would be perfect if he coujld get Jimmy Page to play guitar instead of that nobody in the background there.
Odyssey54 3 years ago
j102753 3 years ago
Make more money? Do you think Robert Plant is short of that?
Check out the rich list from last year, he is now 50 million wealthier than Jimmy Page.
anja0112 3 years ago
If the 70"s is that much your era how come you don't know who T bone is? Considering he toured with Dylan in 74 and 75! Or maybe just like today, in the 70's you also stuck to only Led Zeppelin?
reddragonready 3 years ago
I'm a huge Led Zeppelin fan, and I'm glad to see that Robert Plant is still making some fine music, with a fine lady if I may say so! And the video... experimental... cool I guess.
addy121 3 years ago
Let's see....rockabilly sound..... I get it ....
Plant is going through an Elvis phase.
This could be in one of those old movies with Elvis and Ann Margaret. My God.
j102753 3 years ago
There is more to Robert Plant than Led Zeppelin - how many times can a person listen to stairway to heaven!
This is great, the video is good too, as it doesn't distract from the song.

you kidding me! it represents what the song is all about, siplicity, because we all need a balance between everything! Sometimes we want a pizza with onions pickles and bananas and sometimes we just want a burger, I rather have that burger now.
