The Mad Minute record was set with a Lee Enfield by Sergeant Instructor Snoxall in 1914 ... 38 rounds, all in a 12" group in a silhouette target at 300 yards. Ouch.
I have both the #4 and #1 Lee Enfield rifles. Love them! The most rounds I was able to get off in 60 seconds was 22. I was firing at a 40X40 inch piece of plywood at 100 yards. Managed to hit all 22 rounds into it from a standing position. Great video!
Indeed. Some of these punks think it's cool to rapid fire an AR-15, but any dolt can pull a trigger really fast, working a Lee Enfield like that, that's REAL skill. I got some practicing to do to catch up to that rate of fire with my own No.4 Mk.I
@jaxfromcanada A bolt-action Enfield cannot fire as fast as a semi-auto Garand. Do a YouTube search for "garand rapid" or "garand bump" to see examples. Your other points are correct, however. By the way, John Garand was a Canadian.
It cant fire as fast per se, but when accuracy counts you cant beat it. Try and shoot ten rounds as accurately and quickly as this here Enfield. Cant be done (For obvious reasons lol).
And the Garand isn't the same sort of accurate anyway. The rifle 'jumps' too much, forcing you to readjust your aim every shot. The Enfield recoils in such a way that the gun doesn't jump, instead recoiling predictably, so you dont have to readjust as much (If at all) to make another shot.
@Paladin601 I will but I can only do it from the seated positiong, not the prone as required in the Mad Min rules. Several years ago I broke my neck, since then it has been fused and shooting prone is very very difficult for me..
@mag30th Nice shooting my friend! A great demonstration of the rapid fire potential of the Lee Enfield .303. This capability was witnessed at the battle of Mons in 1914 when the BEF clashed with an overwhelming German force. The BEF stunned the Germans with highly accurate rapid fire, the Germans referred to the battle as, 'Kindersloss,' or 'Slaughter of the innocents.' The basic standard of rapid fire in the BEF was to fire 15 rnds & hit the tgt in one minute. Most Toms could actually do 30+ !!
epic... at Mons the Germans thought they were being machine-gunned, when in fact it was just trained British riflemen with Lee-Enfields not too disimmilar to this one.
lols, when you do this in WW1, a whole company of jerries are runing towards you, i don't think you need to fucking aim at anything,, one bullet is bound to hit. =P
@churd243 First of all, if you can show me how to "prove" that I had struck anything on a YouTube video, please forward that information to me. I will immediately take your advice and make such a video.
The point it, it is not possible to "prove" I struck anything in any of my videos. I shoot VERY frequently, I am VERY proficient with this and several other bolt action rifles, and the clubs I shoot with twice a week would laugh me out of town if I were faking shooting videos.
@churd243 "who the fucks askin you" Regardless of subsequent punctuation, that IS indeed a question. You fail at describing your own words, which is pretty bad. Not only that, have you seen mag30th's other videos? It takes skill to shoot like he does. Just because you can't do something doesn't mean anyone else can't either. From the way you place asterisks in profanity tells me that can't be more than 10 years old, or at least can't think older than one.
love it, this is the way the Canadians and the British would have done it in WW1 and WW2, and for those people who say well does it hit anything, or dont use support, they would only fire this fast when a flood of people were running at them trying to kill them i think youd shoot fast as well. and when shooting at somehting better yet someone you want a sure shot and the best way is to support it.
This is one of very few bolt action "speed shooting" vids on Youtube where the shooter actually knows how to shoot a a bolt action rifle. The shooter doesn't break his cheek weld as he shoots, which is how it's supposed to be done.
@kodiakkeith The enfield is the ONLY bolt action that you can do that with. I've tried em all. for the the M1903 and german mausers the bolt will "push" your face out of the way. with the mosin nagant is the same way.
@zagstrukk Not true. I own both a Mauser and a MN, and they too can be cycled from the shoulder. That's the way it was taught back when wars were fought by rifleman.
@GuitarGUYinSHORTS Because of the cock on closing mechanism, the firing pin is only cocked in the last 1/4 inch or so of the bolt closing. That means that if the sear doesn't catch the cocking piece, the only force on the round's primer is the bolt closing pressure exerted by the shooter, and the firing pin spring would allow it to push back.
The Mauser bolt cocks on opening, so I assume it's possible for that to misfire when closing.
Yes, Practice makes perfect. You just want to make sure you have a tough action, Like a Mauser action is tough, And the Springfield action(Modified Mauser.XD)
@aphsknight74 As far as I'm aware, no Lee Enfield actions failed as a result of lack of strength. That means the Mauser was over-engineered for the job, and seriously deficient in magazine capacity. :)
@No1sonuk As far as I am aware, No Lee Enfield's(Bolt action) are still in use to this day. While many militaries(Third world be that as it may) Still regularly employ the 8mm Mauser for many sniping, and marksman roles. Also, The Remington 700, Heavily based off of the Springfield 1903, Which was Heavily based off of the Mauser 98(so much so we had to pay royalties to the Germans) Is now the most widely used Bolt action rifle in the entire world, in all of it's calibers.
@aphsknight74 Check out the Wikipedia page, in the section called "The Lee-Enfield in military/police use today". Reserve and police forces still use them, as well as some specialist units. Some forces still use No.1 Mk IIIs.
The Canadian Rangers are still issued them because they have "proven to be reliable in the Arctic environment".
Nope, as Blood says, its because of the Enfield action, it cocks on closing, also the distance that the bolt has to travel during cocking is a little bit less than most other rifles, add to that a bit of wear on the metal lugs to make em smooth and polished. And you one seriously fast action, During the battle of the Marne in WW1, a British rifle company halted an entire German division for a while, because they thought they were under machine gun fire, but it was just rapid fired rifles :-)
@AngelisMortis01 During the Battle Of Mons in 1914, the heavily outnumbered BEF halted the German tidalwave with rapid fire from Lee Enfield rifles. The Germans took a terrible pasting, to such a degree, they referred to it as, 'Kindersloss,' Slaughter Of The Innocents. There were THREE British infantry divisions involved at Mons, German intel reports believed that there were NINE divs! This was due to the rapid fire of the Enfield rifle. An awesome rifle then & now.
Wow, great technique. Impressed by both the speed and fluidness of the bolt technique and also how the you keep your eye through the sights as you cycle the bolt, that must eliminate the time need to realign to the target after each shot.
5 men shooting that fast really would sound like a machine gun.
PLEASE HELP!! I recently came across what I think it a Pattern 14 Lee Enfield British .303, at least he buttstock has the Pattern 14 marking and the brass disk. However, the Brittish .303 ammo is too big to fit in the gun. Does anyone know what caliber rifle this may be?
I have a book that says the Pattern 14 was originally developed for a .276 caliber rimless cartridge. When WWI broke out they turned it into a .303. Since America didn't have enough Springfields it also was used for 30-06
P14's Enfields (not Lee) came in .303 and 30-06, but it could have be another calibre (converted at a later date). Did it have a red band painted on the stock? The Calibre should be stamped on the Barrel, if not it's not been proved, and should not be fired.
The rifle your talking about has a 5 or 6 round (depending on caliber, the rimless 30-06 version had 6 but due to it's rim the .303 had to be stacked slightle different)magazine the Lee Enfield carrys 10 and no other bolt-action rifle is that fast.
I'd say my Swiss K31 is just as quick as my Enfield No4. Enfield has a higher rate of fire because of its 10 round magazine. I love both rifles, but prefer the K31 because the cartridge isn't rimmed thus making it easier to load. Enfields are prone to jamming if you're not careful with the rims.
I sold mine,I had a MKIII with a 25" barrel with a scope mount and scope,I got tired of trying to find bulk ammo for it,I've got a Mosin Nagant M91/30 and buy 880 rds. of Bulgarian 7.62x54R 149 gr. for $170 thru Sportsmans Guide every month, though all of these old guns are good to have and reliable, stock up NOW,don't mess around, gun bans and confiscations are coming, be ready,I doubt the FED's can do it but it won't keep them from trying it,just be prepared, and never think it cant happen
Always been a dream of mine to rapid fire a rifle like that...but then again not only would I not be accurate with it, I'd probably break the damn thing xD
It would not be difficult, the rifle overheating in my opion is the main problem, even after this shoot it became very hot. I dont know how the rifle would be damaged, or even if it would be, but I think after about 100 rounds it would be too hot to handle, litteraly.
well it can get pretty long fire rates especialy if your using gloves but in WW1 the krouts thought they were being shot at with machine guns wen it was about 3 lee enfields
The Lee-enfield was one of the fastest rifles of it's kind, which is why it saw the Brits through two world wars. And it had an absolutely ludicrous ammo capacity for a bolt action - ten rounds compared to the usual five. A fantastic weapon all around. I want to fire one of these. :)
during the first world war,in the blunt barelled version of the '303(smle mk3-1916) there were reports of the germans coming under assumed machine gun fire.later turned out that the unit engaging them only had 303's
So why do people feel the need to wander off the net just to slag off a guys shooting ? Who cares what the actual ROF or accuracy was - you got to rapid fire a Lee-Enfield !
the action on mine is not evan half as smooth but i think it may be due to the fact its not 100 percent originall, it was redone and some parts were taken off other enfields ex. mk 1 on an mk2
i may eventually just buy an smle or a 100 percent original no4 but for now this one will have to do
Think what you want, it was in fact ten shots, in less than ten seconds. I do it all the time with bolt action rifles, all types, as I have done for years. I'm not about to start such a stupid argument with someone over the internet.
By the way, since you apparently feel the need to go around YouTube and point out what you feel is incorrect, I should point out to you that "wasent" is actually spelled "wasn't."
Just shoot a taacticle missle up his ass and rund for it. When he blows up you will be covered in head cheese, spam, and Peanut butter jelly and fried bannana sandwiches
yeah after slim fast. By the way just when you thought CT were going to pack it in came the report of the FBI and the Dallas police dept not searching the crrowd at a speech in Dalls cause they looked like a friendly crowd. Sure what could ever happen to a young charismatic democrat running for president there?
Cant wait, baited breath building up. By the way when you recommended the remington to me you mentioned something about .308 or something else. Is that the caliber and is there a choice to what to use.
Single squads of British riflemen in WWII were often mistaken for machine gun positions by attacking Germans who'd suddenly come under enormous fire.

Question: how "easily" could one sustain that rate of fire in combat with a bolt-action weapon? Just curious.
mpgingdl 3 years ago

I REALLY have tor enew my shooter's licence !

beautiful!
the action on mine is not evan half as smooth but i think it may be due to the fact its not 100 percent originall, it was redone and some parts were taken off other enfields ex. mk 1 on an mk2
i may eventually just buy an smle or a 100 percent original no4 but for now this one will have to do

Gotta love the enfield!one of the best bolt action rifles I hear!
But accuracy wise - is it as accurate as the mauser 98? Id like to know as im buying one very soon

Thanks! My Lee Enfield No.1 Mk III (SMLE)is more accurate than my Mauser, and the Mauser is more accurate than my No4 Enfield.
Either rifle is fun though, you should buy one of each!
mag30th 3 years ago
Ok thanks for the info,Im looking into a No4 at the moment,Ive been thinking of getting a mauser 98 too,how much can you get one for?
91Armor 3 years ago
that wasent 10 shots in 9 secs
jyoun111 3 years ago
Think what you want, it was in fact ten shots, in less than ten seconds. I do it all the time with bolt action rifles, all types, as I have done for years. I'm not about to start such a stupid argument with someone over the internet.
By the way, since you apparently feel the need to go around YouTube and point out what you feel is incorrect, I should point out to you that "wasent" is actually spelled "wasn't."

so... did you just forget to add the groupings? anyone can shoot fast... but that doesn't mean anything if you cant hit the target
superwoofer2007 3 years ago
It was a 10 inch by 4 foot metal target, at 120 yards. I have plenty of videos posted here on YouTube addressing my marksmanship.

hey mag, you should start doing the "add comments after approval" that way "tossers" like these dont get to "air their oppinion" via your vids

No, they are all hits on Fat Bastards belly but he keeps talking, I tried the granade launcher in his mouth, that didnt do anything either.
