i hate when people get used to getting food from the store and just die if left in th woods. people these days dont know any sovivor skills just call of duty and food.
um idk, i had this blade for about a year now and the pommel works amazing, the blade is sharp, handy- dandy design, and the fire starter and the sharpener is good. like i,ve had a cold steel tanto and the tanto's blade feels more strong but this knife carries out the same than the cs tanto. gerber isnt a bad company, just more limited than all the other companies you've bs about. idk its a good knife better than you exagerated it to be. dont say coldsteel is bad cos its amazing and so is gerber
@californialove3100 Oh yea, so he claimed to be a scout sniper with the 1st Expeditionary Unit... the 1st is a logistical Division specializing in amphibious transport and field hospitals.
@californialove3100 Yup, he's way out there. I should have kept some of his PMs and posted them. He kept changing the rank he was claiming to be, then he chose a rank typically held by men 10 years his senior. Then insisted that he was an E-9 and that rank was superior to a LCDR (my rank at retirement). Then he switched from USMC to Army, then said that "even thought I (he) have no military experience, I could shoot you from 800 yards."
@californialove3100 I can, but I'm not passing out flowers and lollypops. I was curious earlier and gave him the benefit of the doubt. After he persisted and wouldn't stop, I brought down the hammer.
@spysnow333 I'm an Israeli of German, French, Italian ancestry jackass. Where do you get "rag-head" from?... Oh yeah, you're a complete brainwashed simpleton.
Well for one I proved you to be a liar on multiple accounts. Then you admitted to lying (or just joking around).
Yea, you're Delta alright. Let's just say you were Delta for a second. Delta is far inferior to the SEALs, S13 is superior to the SEALs, we train the Teams, they copied us and Col Moschin. So you're still below me.
@seventhsabra how old are you ? your being a real asshole to this poor idiot. And i was a marine. i know exactly what you mean. i carry it with honor, but there's no reason to be such an ass to him !
@spysnow333 My estate is just that, and you're just jealous.
I didn't start any of this you fucking huckleberry. You're the one who came in an LIED about being in the military. And you didn't just lie, you continued to blatantly lie to me, an officer who HAS actually served his country with the highest distinction. If you and I had this conversation face to face, you'd be in the hospital, and the cops would thank me for it.
@seventhSabra Why are you hating on everybody hear ? Does it make you feel good inside or some shit ? like that spysnow guy is a bit retarded but he has a point you did change your story quite a bit. And for fuck sake this is a knife video.
@californialove3100 I'm not hating on anyone, I'm slapping some sense into this tool.
No, I didn't change my story at all, and that wasn't the issue. The issue is when some prick claims to be USMC when he clearly is not, then claims that I'm not who I truly am. I have plenty of close friends who are ACTUAL MARINES and carry that distinction with honor, so when some twat comes along and decides to be an imposter, I'm going to make sure the little douche is put in his place.
iPhone = the Tool's choice in phones. I still doesn't solve your idiotic rants like "your fucking retard."
And you still can't help but call me a fucking retard every chance you get, despite the fact that I have a best education a person can possibly have, I'm an Astrophysicist, member of the Pi and Prometheus Societies and I've invented/patented a machine that will revolutionize the world of medicine.
@spysnow333 ... so basically you aren't educated. I hear a lot of "I'm go to blah blah," "I'm invited to blah blah," "I have a certificate for blah blah."
You have a Master's in Linguistics? I'm supposed to believe that you're a mechanic, and you have the grammatical competence of a 7 year old, yet you have a Master's in Linguistics - French?
LIAR!
A degree in Linguistics doesn't study a certain foreign language, it is the scientific study of language.
You keep saying you make as much or more than I do... what part of I LIVE IN THE RICHEST NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE US do you not understand. My main home is on S. Mapleton Dr, the Playboy Mansion is one of my neighbors. I earn between $30K and $70K per week. If I sold my company right now, I'd be worth 20 Billion. When we go public I'll be worth a lot more than that...
..you're right, a mechanic earns at least that much
@spysnow333 Seriously, are you seriously that fucking retarded? Good G-d.
Yea, I'm just going to tell you everything about my private company which is fending off multi billion dollar offers to buy us out which is in the process of going public. The stock has increased 900% in the past 10 months, but hey, I'll just tell some lying imposter about it.
You just may be the world's most accomplished simpleton.
@spysnow333 Sure, I'm going to believe you after the endless trail of lies you've told?
And there's no such thing as a PhD in Medical you twit, I know, I was accepted to the University of Washington School of Medicine (the world's best Medical Program). PhD by definition is NOT a medical doctorate, that's an MD.
@spysnow333 "I'm not in the army do fuck you bitch but I could still Cap your dumb ass at 800 yards ! Your a pussy bitch who don't know shit!"
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Ok seriously, are you trying to make fun of yourself? Oh really, you're not in the Army, no fucking shit liar, you wouldn't even qualify for basic Infantry (i.e. you're too stupid to go a job relegated for the dumbest poor souls in the service).
You'd cap my ass huh? With what? What cartridge would you choose for the shot?
@spysnow333 Ahhh, now you're joking, the classic douchebag pull out move when you got caught in a huge lie. I love when little turds try to claim they're in the military to my face.
I see you still can't differentiate between "your" and "you're"... what's it like being a HS dropout?
Never played Call of Duty.
Once again, I NEVER SAID I WAS IN THE ARMY. I am a retired NAVAL SF Lt. Commander.
@spysnow333 "You got an education." In what? Where did you attend University? I'd live to hear this bullshit story ofter your last one came crashing down in flames.
My education: Summa Cum Laude from U of Washington, UCLA, Stanford, and Yale. PhD in Astrophysics, Linguistics, and Psychology. My accolades continue but what I've listed is more than you can fathom.
I love how your job keeps changing. 1st a rancher, then a "Master Gunny," now a mechanic. Keep lying assclown.
@spysnow333 ...I make more in a week after taxes than you do in a year before taxes.
Get our asses kicked by Palestine? Sure tool, a nation where every citizen is a soldier with training equal to US Rangers at the minimum, is going to get our asses kicked by a bunch of inbred Arabs with rocks and AK's that cannot shoot straight.
And yes, I am a CO, Lt. Cmdr IDF S13 (Ret.)... wife is also military (surgeon) and she makes more than you.
@spysnow333 ROFL, you're a mechanic and you make more than an Astrophysicist? Sure pal. I live in Holmby Hills CA, it's the richest neighborhood in USA, the average income here is about $800K, and I'm well above that. I drive a $200K TLC Icon, I own my own plane and have a PPL. In addition to being an Astrophysicist, I own a multimillion dollar company, we're in FDA trials right now, in 2 years we go public and the company will be worth billions. We get buy out offers of $20B
@spysnow333 And now for the best part... you claim to be a part of the 1st Expeditionary as well as a scout sniper, there's just one HUGE PROBLEM and yet another lie in which I've caught you. MAGTF (to which you claim to have served) DOESN'T HAVE SCOUT SNIPERS! OOOOPPS! The 1st Expeditionary is an amphibious assault and logistics division. They generally do not see combat. They support a front-line assault force and specialize in Medical and Mechanical support.
@spysnow333 If you are a Master Gunnery Sergeant (notice how I've spelled the rank correctly as well as properly capitalized each word), then what is your MOS? More specifically, what is your primary MOS?
What pride would that be you little twat? Is that the same "pride" that has you claiming to be a USMC E-8, then in the next post you're suddenly an E-9? The same pride that has you misspelling your own fictitious rank Gunny Sergeant? Maybe it's the same "pride" that has you lying right and left. It's easy to fool civilians, but when you lie to a C.O. and a SpecOps none the less, you just fucked yourself over. We know our SOP, you clearly do not.
@spysnow333 Yea, I'm calling you stupid, you've used the possessive "your" instead of the correct "you're" three time in that post alone. YOU'RE spelling and grammar is that of a Community College dropout.
"I ve been in more survival situtations BECAUSE I'VE FOUGHT THAT"... Umm, what? Do you even read the gibberish that you write?
Whatever you say little kiddie poo, I'm a H.E.S.T. and S.E.R.E. instructor, you aren't.
I have time to do whatever I want - come make me shut up fraud.
@spysnow333 Fail, guess you've never heard of dual citizenship, and yes, my relatives can serve for whatever country they are patriots of.
Never said I was in the Army retard, I'm a Ret. Lt. Cmdr, just more proof that you're not military as you'd know your ranks. I'm Navy SF shit for brains.
Nope, don't play video games, and I live in Malibu and Bel Air Ca, my parents live in Israel and Australia... so that makes it impossible to live in their basement.
Bear only spent 3 years with the British Army, and it's "operator" not "operative." He has ZERO combat experience. He was in the part-time Reserve as a paratrooper, medic, and survival instructor-hardly the SAS Commando people think. He also barely qualified for Special Forces Operator Selection and it took several attempts to qualify (I set IDF records for every qualification test which make the SEALs tests look like Golf).
@spysnow333 As for "survival situations," if you have been in more of them, then it just shows that you're an idiot who cannot make good decisions in the field and thus must resort to survival tactics.
As for ACTUAL survival, I teach H.E.S.T. as well as advanced desert and Arctic survival tactics. My current work is a PhD Astrophysicist researching next-gen propulsion systems. This means I go to Antarctica and all must pass a survival course. I'm also a member of the "300 Club."
@spysnow333 I'm older than you, so I'd love to know how you've been doing "camping and survival shit" longer than I have.
I've climbed Everest, Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Denali, Rainier, and many others, so I've got you beat in the camping/mountaineering/climbing department. I've bivi'd on the Troll Wall and El Cap, and every year I do a Whitney run where a couple SEAL buddies, and other SF friends run up and down Mt Whitney. I've also done the Mt. Fuji Marathon.
@spysnow333 Now that you've been proven a fraud, I'll fuck you up some more sonny.
Wow, you were shooting at age six and you're from the south. Am I supposed to be impressed? I was shooting 4" groups with my dad's (U.S.A.F. PJ R.I.P.) custom Smith & Wesson model 66-2 at age 5. That's a custom snub-nose .357 Magnum with Glaser Safety Slugs. I was shooting my own Marlin 1895 .45-70 Guide Gun and had killed Grizzly, Moose, Lion, etc by age 13.
@spysnow333 Like I've said, I'm retired Lt. Cmdr Israeli IDF SF.
Israeli women soldiers are more qualified than you are, the average IDF operator is on par with British SAS... and that's just our "general forces," not SF.
And it's "you're" not "your," I know YOU'RE just an uneducated E-8, but I'd expect more from YOUR country's pathetic educational system.
@spysnow333 I don't talk shit. As far as talking down to people, you couldn't be further from the truth. I'm a Lt. Commander, so by rank alone it was my job to "talk down" to people. I know my stuff, I'm an extremely Alpha male, and with my real life/combat experience, Ivy League education, world travel, linguistic diversity, extreme wealth, and genius IQ, I'm a superior to most anyone. I'm not putting people down, I state facts. Grow thicker skin, adapt and overcome.
@seventhSabra keep all that bulshit to urslef i dont think anyone here cares about yourlife and what you do bigshot. you sound so ignaronat for arguing like u two are and ur calling him a kid ...stop arguing its as simple as tht u " mature" experta
@gc8timeattackrsti Ah yes, another jealous douche troll crawls out from under his lurking rock to whine at someone who has accomplished more and therefore has more than he himself does.
The only ignorant one here is you buddy boy, especially with your pathetic display of writing which is barely legible and completely incomprehensible.
@seventhSabra They put out the 2nd version of this knife earlier this year and reinforced the pommel. The newer design has a 1/4 inch orange stripe at the base, the older one shown here has an 1/8th inch stripe. This knife is solid now so do your homework.
@gregnotes I'm a knife expert, I've done my homework, it's STILL crap. After "fixing" the pommel issue, the knife still breaks, there are plenty of field tests with the "improved" version where the knife is completely destroyed in less than 20 min of real survival bushcraft tasks.
The knife STILL IS NOT FULL TANG, x-rays prove this... do YOUR homework.
It's crap, pure crap, and that's an insult to crap. It's only use is sussing out Bear Grylls wannabes who want to 'play' survival.
@rockbay79 i think its a good knife, not the best considering its not a full tang, but its a pretty good knife, there are better knives out there but for like camping, i think its a great knife
@seventhSabra Ha I own it and it works great, so I've done MY homework. I could care less what you think it works awesome! It'll go through flesh like any other knife too, you wanna stand in front of one talking all that shit survival wannabe? You knife 'elitist connoisseurs' crack me up, it doesn't need a full tang to stop a predator. I have an axe and a ghurka kukri for serious chopping, have fun splitting wood with your knife!
@seventhSabra the truth is bro, any knife is gonna break, your a knife expert, i respect that, but just because some dick wad posts a video of him doing something stupid and breaking his knife doesnt mean it wont be useful in a survival situation,
@Thomner1 Any knife won't break. TO give you an idea, most decent knives (better than this one) will break around 15-20 degrees of bend and 150-200 ft-lbs force. True Survival knives like I use ESEE 5, Bark river Bravo 1, Fallkniven A1 won't break untill past 90 degrees bend and 700-900 ft-lbs force. A true knive is meant to be pounded on through the toughest hardwood in -40F (where settl become so brittle it can shatter like glass) and still survive.
@seventhSabra why didnt i see this comment just now? hahaha and in my experience in knives, they all will break somehow, it just depends on how easily, i havnt tried any of the knives you listed, but i think im gonna look into a Fallkniven,
@Thomner1 Trust me, you CANNOT break the knives I listed. The knife destruction tests for those models required industrial equipment in a very well equipped machine shop in order to cause a break. There just isn't anything a human can do to a 6mm thick chunk of super-steel to cause breakage. With ESEE and Bark River, their warranty covers even the most negligent abuse for the lifetime of the knife, no questions asked. You break it, you get a brand new blade.
@seventhSabra a lot of you guys that are commenting on this calling his knife complete crap because of the durability obviously havnt seen even one show of his, survival isnt just about going around throwing your knife into trees i know its not Full tang, but you dont necessarily need a full tang knife in a survival situation, to be honest, all i would use my knife for is for cutting rope, skinning animals, and making notches in sticks for
@Thomner1 Well the serrations and terrible blade geometry would make this a horrible skinning knife. Cutting rope, there are much better/more capable choices for less. Making notches in sticks? This still fails at that task. Again this is the "Ultimate Survival Knife" according to Gerber; none of what you mentioned equates to survival. The classic test for a survival knife is batoning, and this thing is toast after 20min of moderate baton work on medium wood.
@seventhSabra dude all of which i said is part of a survival situation xDD i have one, the sereations are still there and i beat this knife to shit just doing stupid stuff, like throwing it into trees, and although you know a lot about knives, i know a lot about survival, like there are other ways to baton wood, you dont have to use a knife, and you dont even need to baton wood period, and there is no such thing as a moderate survival situation, it can happen anywhere, at anytime with anyone
@Thomner1 I'm a retired Lt. Cmdr. SpecOps, a mountaineer, and a H.E.S.T. instructor, spare me your "knowledge" of survival.
I've survived in placed like Antarctica or the desert at 15,000 ft where there is no wood to baton.
I've watched at least 80-85% of Bear's shows, some are good, especially the first few seasons. But it's a fake survival show. I know some guides who have been survival consults for a particular region where he's going, he breaks several knives every episode.
@seventhSabra Rofl kid,you ain't shit and you'll never be shit...I had the knife for almost 5 months now and i used it probably 3 times per day in the woods and it never broke on me yet.you need to learn how to maintain you're knifes.
@seventhSabra know what's odd? You replied to 2 diferent People saying you where Lt.Cmdr. specops? mountaineer? H.E.S.T instructor? Then you said: You're talking to a 6'2" ex Israeli SF, expert in Krav Maga and Aikido, mountain/rock climber, diver, Ironman triathlete, and I CCW a Glock 29... I don't need to pick fights. You're obviously a kid who plays Too much Call of duty.
@seventhSabra you where driving in 1986? You can that be...You weren't even born. You're a jackass Flaming people threatening to shoot them with a Glock 29? Wow a glock Congratulation you got a 10mm pistol, I had a 7MM at 13. Don't even bother replying you're just wasting my time.
@TheExecel No, you're wasting your own time dipshit.
I was born in the 70s. I was at MIT in 1986... I'm an Astrophysicist.
I have MANY 10mm pistols, G20, G29, Wilson Combat Hunter, and more. I CCW a G29, it's not the only pistol I own retard. I own 15 1911s including Ed Browns, Wilson Combats, etc. I have a Class 3 license and more than 130 firearms total.
@seventhSabra you're shit isn't adding Up kid. Astrophysicist is a branch of astronomy that deals with the physics of the universe, including the physical properties of celestial objects, as well as their interactions and behavior Among the objects studied are galaxies, stars, planets, exoplanets, the interstellar medium and the cosmic microwave background
And I call it as you are, you ARE a noob, a douche, a 101, whatever you want to label the term, that's you. You plagiarized directly from Wikipedia, you're a noob deal with it.
@seventhSabra No problem son,And It's type 3 not Class 3 Dumb ass.You still don't make sense with all that bullshit your saying lmfao,For hand guns you need a special License
Just do a You Tube search for "Class 3 FFL." There are 3 TYPES of Class 3 license moron. But hey, keep arguing with the Astrophysicist with a 184 IQ... you're probably smarter than me anyway, have fun pumping my gas and flipping burgers for an annual wage that's less than what I earn in a week.
@seventhSabra i tried to block you but youtube isn't working to well with me,And yes...I am a noob, I don't know shit about knives or guns.Only thing i know about them is that i own some of them :) Again...Have a nice year =).Merry Christmas and happy new-years btw.
@TheExecel Then don't argue with someone like myself who is older by at least a decade, with far superior education and life experience.
I'm extremely wealthy, and I don't say that to brag, I say it to give you some idea of my financial and cultural scope, what I can buy and collect. I can name at least 50 knife manufacturers that are better than Gerber. I have 200+ knives, most of which are in the $200-$1500 range, my firearm collection is even more vast.
@TIMOTHYSAARINEN Everyone has an ego moron, the difference between you and I is that while I do have a large ego, I have earned the right to have said ego. My life kicks ass and I'm not going to apologize for it, especially when I'm just stating facts. You're just pissy because you haven't done anything with your life so you're jealous. Let me guess, you're one of these douchebags who thinks everyone is equal, and "we're all winners." I have a great life because I made it so.
@seventhSabra, You don't know anything about me, bitch, so quit running your mouth. Assuming even a fraction of what you say about yourself is true, one thing I'm positive about you is that you have zero class.
@seventhSabra i respect that ^ cause thats where i want to be when im done with high school, but the point im trying to get across is you dont need to baton, there is no specific need to baton other than for fire, which can still be managed without split wood, i have taken a few survival courses, and one of the students was batoning, a chunk of wood, and he slipped, damn near cut his foot off, i think that its a good knife for some tasks, not all but some
@Thomner1 There are many reasons to baton, fire is just the most obvious, and frankly the most important of all survival abilities. If you can't make fire, you're screwed.
@seventhSabra yeah, the way i was taught, was the main reason to baton is for fire,to me personally, i think that having cordage is more important than batoning, but i havnt had to much experience with batoning,
Gerber is normally a really good brand. However anything that they slap the "Bear Grylls" motif on is not built to the same standard as their regular knives. The Bear Grylls "Ultimate Knife" is just a really cheap Chinese made version of their LMF 2 (Infantry combat & survival knife). The good Gerbers are made in Portland and arent orange.
Chinese-made junk. I don't trust knife steels out of China. Japan's steels the most innovative I've seen. This is simply a over-hyped, over-marketed device to capitalize on BG popularity. Survival, huh? I wouldnt trust my life to this one.
bear had a previous knife endorsement with a company called Bayley and it was called the S4 survival or something. it was handmade and $500. but i can imagine not alot of people bought it. the $60 gerber comes with alot of stuff and it seems like an ok knife
This knife is good i have plenty of knives and this is not a bad knife at all, for its size its very efficient, only bad thing abougth it is that the steel is too soft the maintain the type serations that this knife has
@yourredcomrade2 Carbon is fine if you're in a dry environment, but what if you're in Alaska, or the Pacific Northwest Rainforests?
Furthermore, with today's super-steels, the need for carbon steel is almost a bygone era. Hands down the three best makers of survival blades are ESEE, Fallkniven, and Bark River. Bark River and Fallkniven both specialize in phenomenal SS survival blades. I usually prefer my Bravo 1 SS or Fallkniven A1/S1/F1 to my ESEE blades.
@yourredcomrade2 You clearly know nothing about steel. All of the best steel variations in the world are SS. S30V is arguably the best steel on earth, designed specifically for knives, look at any super high end knife, it has S30V. Bark River and Fallkniven make the best survival knives on earth; Fallkies are laminated VG10 or 3G (both SS), while Bark River uses A2 "semi-stainless" and CPM154 which is a stainless super-steel. High carbon blades are great too, each has pros/cons.
@NothinButPow You're talking to a 6'2" ex Israeli SF, expert in Krav Maga and Aikido, mountain/rock climber, diver, Ironman triathlete, and I CCW a Glock 29... I don't need to pick fights.
I don't know why everyone hates on Bear, he's already accomplished more than any of you will in a lifetime. Youngest guy from the UK to climb Everest, has a survival show, was in the special forces and much more. He's a smart business man.
@NothinButPow He's a cool guy, but he sold out BIG TIME.
For the record, I've done everything Bear has accomplished, and much more. Bear's show is sensationalized and designed to entertain; it is NOT a valid instructional program. The show is staged and it's become a series of gimmicks involving drinking pee, eating something gross, scrambling/abseiling/jumping, and opining about nature.
Man, Woman, Wild is a much better show, but nothing beast getting out and doing it yourself.
this knife isnt designed for the ex special forces guys...this knife is designed for a fuckin average person to be able to a fighting chance at surviving in the wild, should worse come to worse, and is 40 bucks, sorry that it isnt a fucking chainsaw made for fucking rambo, and costs 200 dollars, seventhsab, you have obviously missed the entire point of this knife.
@umwhoalol No, I really didn't, you missed the entire point of my posts as a survival expert. Someone like myself doesn't even need a knife to survive, but someone with out my experience does, and they need that knife to be able to take to most severe punishment and continue to function. This knife can't do that, but its buyers think it can, thus they are lulled into a false sense of security. How many people who bought this actually went out and tried to make a fire/build shelter...
@umwhoalol ... having a knife means you need to practice with it just like having a gun requires practice to become proficient. Anyone who does go out and try to use this in a mock survival situation will quickly realize that they basically have a novelty knife.
I never said you had to buy a $200 knife, in fact most of what I recommended was in the $80-$130 range. I teach survival to the SEAL Teams, as well as Boy Scouts, and climbing/scientific expeditions...
@seventhSabra dont comment so damn much, runs up my email box. anyways, i have this knife, its sturdy and reliable, its doesnt break because i dont bataan it and chop through trees with it the reason i havent,is BECAUSE IT TELLS YOU NOT TO.,otherwise its held up fine with no problems, just because i havent thrown it in a trash compacter doesnt mean it isnt a good knife,
this knife was 39 bucks, and ive lit fires with it no problem, also, they used to break.USED TO.its been recalled and improved.
@umwhoalol Just because it tell you not to doesn't mean you don't, or are you one of those boring types who always plays by all the rules in life? Batoning is a quintessential component of a survival knife, "they" tell you not to because "they" know that this isn't a real survival knife and as basic tests have proven, it gets destroyed during a simple baton test. My ESEE and Fallknivens have batoned thousands of logs, other than a few minor scratches, they're as new.
Respond to this video... you've got 1 thing with you and its a knife and you're an average joe blow, now do you want to buy an 80 dollar knife that wont break on you,and be totally fucked on everything else cus u have a knife with no knowledge at fucking at all?or do you want a full tang knife with a fire starter, sharpening block, pommel, whistle and small pamphlet on basic survival skills, that wont break on you anyways?
thats the point of this knife. not to chop down a fucking tree.
@umwhoalol You forget the first rule of survival: you never have one tool with you, your #1 piece of equipment is your brain. What's better, this POS for $50, or a BK2 for $70, a real firesteel $10, you don't need a sharpener with a real survival knife - it can be sharpened on a rock, whistle $3, paracord 50' for $3.50... you've spent under $100 and you have a basic kit that will actually work. If your life isn't worth the price of a decent ($70) knife, then you don't deserve to be rescued.
@seventhSabra a joe blow wont even know what to buy,nor will he pay 90 bucks on a kit, but he MIGHT (i say might because most wont even do that) be willing to pay 39.00 bucks for basic knife and survival kit online...such as this. how in the hell do you know if its a decent knife or not, when the only breaking videos on youtube, are from the pommel being broken off after being trashed like hell, and then the knife being recalled and improved anyways?why dont you buy one,and review it yourself
@umwhoalol Watch E2E review and field test of the knife, it's destroyed in 20 min and gets a big fat F. Watch the knife destruction tests at knifetests com, again this thing gets totaled is hardly any time with very little force.
I don't need to buy the knife to know it's crap. When you're a knife expert as I am, you can just look at a blade and know its quality. It's not full tang, it has a cheesy plastic liner with rubberized grips, it has serrations, poor steel, the list goes on.
@seventhSabra e2e has a review, but it was never destroyed,in fact he never even showed a field test,he just had the knife, and was talking about it,saying he didnt like the serrations.noss (the guy at knifetests) never reviewed it... it is full tang, but is covered by the pommel, complaining about rubber grips? WOW. the steel?well for 40 dollars i challenge you to find a better blade...you literally lied 3 times there,im seriously starting to doubt your "expertise"
@umwhoalol Nope, he has a field test as well, it's even to the right in the list of videos jackass. It' IS NOT FULL TANG, an x-ray of the knife will prove this, not to mention that when this POS breaks you can see that it isn't full tang, at best it's a modified rat tang... it's based off the LMF II which Gerber states IS NOT FULL TANG. Yea, I'm going to complain about the shit grips on this shit knife, a Mora (one of their more expensive models) costs $18 and is a far better knife.
@seventhSabra I see you are really into knifes. So what is your top 3 list of good knifes, which you recommend me to buy? I want to buy a knew knife for next summer.
@degekkejoop I'm assuming you want a fixed blade since this is a fixed blade video.
Next budget, use, and local climate will dictate what you get.
Fallkniven is one of my favorites, blades range from $100-$1500+. Their top end survival knives (A1, S1, F1) are some of the world's best and range from $110-$170.
ESEE are phenomenal, but they're all high carbon steel, they'll rust in wet/humid environments.
Let me guess, you're some tool who lets the media (video games and shitty TV) dictate what is 'cool.' Then someone like myself comes along who actually IS a survival expert and an ex Israeli SF operator, mountaineer, pilot, world traveler, etc (unlike Bear who is just an actor), and I tell you that this hunk of Chinese garbage is a douchebag's knife, you get all defensive because you're one of the tools who bought this POS at Walmart.
@seventhSabra Sir, I disagree about the comment you made about Bear. He is a former SAS member. As a Veteran myself, the SAS is a very tough, well-trained outfit. Please, let us all show proper respect to those who have earned it. Bear has earned it!!!!
@umwhoalol ...there's always someone with a shitbox gimmick knife like one of these, or a Tom Brown Tracker, or a Rambo knockoff. All their gear is brand new, they're pasty white and you can tell they play Xbox all day and they got all their survival knowledge from the movie "The Hunted." They try SOOO hard to act and look cool, but they're the ones who can't even start a fire with matches and by the end of the day they're blaming their knife (or it has broken).
"Buck and gerber r some of the best knives in the world" wtf u smoking any knife company that uses stainless steel for 95% of there knives is a shit sunday with shit sprinkles on top! For just about the same price go with Cold Steel three times the knife for a few $ more.
People always talk about how great the sheath is. First off, it's not. Second, if the sheath is the high point of a knife, you got problems because you don't have a knife.
@seventhSabra its funny, i've seen you on about 4 other videos talking smack about the Bear Grylls knife, you got something against him? because thats the main reason people dont like the knife, its not that bad
Nothing against Bear, but this knife sucks. I'm a knife expert (amongst other things), he isn't, and Gerber is the Hyundai of Knives. This is a lame version of the Gerber Prodigy, which is a lame version of the LMFII, which is a 7/10 knife at best.
@seventhSabra i see where you are coming from, i have this knife as well as the LMF2 and the BK2, this knife is good for bear gryll enthusiasts, not so much extreme survival i'll agree with you on that, but in my opinion its not that bad. sure the serrations suck and if there wasn't serrations it would've been better, this is a good knife for short term survival, not so much long term, thats where better knives come into play, like the LMF2 and the BK2.
@ECHO7AIRSOFT BK2 rocks, I have an ESEE 5 which is almost identical in dimensions (custom sheaths for the BK2 fit the ESEE 5 perfectly), just higher end components.
@ECHO7AIRSOFT Yea, unfortunately they'll never do that, they don't listen to their customers or criticism about their products. If they did they'd be back at the LMF II minus the serrations and better steel, that will be a $100+ knife... Fallkniven F1 or ESEE 4 are 10 times better for the same price.
Bear is paid big bucks to have his namesake used on this thing, on the show they need to take about 5 of these as they keep breaking, thus it isn't a survival knife. Boy Scout knife at best.
safety whistle... thats what that thing is

um idk, i had this blade for about a year now and the pommel works amazing, the blade is sharp, handy- dandy design, and the fire starter and the sharpener is good. like i,ve had a cold steel tanto and the tanto's blade feels more strong but this knife carries out the same than the cs tanto. gerber isnt a bad company, just more limited than all the other companies you've bs about. idk its a good knife better than you exagerated it to be. dont say coldsteel is bad cos its amazing and so is gerber

It went on and on, hysterical stuff.

californialove3100 2 months ago
@californialove3100 I'm not hating on anyone, I'm slapping some sense into this tool.
No, I didn't change my story at all, and that wasn't the issue. The issue is when some prick claims to be USMC when he clearly is not, then claims that I'm not who I truly am. I have plenty of close friends who are ACTUAL MARINES and carry that distinction with honor, so when some twat comes along and decides to be an imposter, I'm going to make sure the little douche is put in his place.

You have been owned.
seventhSabra 2 months ago
@spysnow333 If you are a Master Gunnery Sergeant (notice how I've spelled the rank correctly as well as properly capitalized each word), then what is your MOS? More specifically, what is your primary MOS?
seventhSabra 2 months ago
@spysnow333 "Insult you pride?"
We know our SOP, you clearly do not.
seventhSabra 2 months ago

Nope, don't play video games, and I live in Malibu and Bel Air Ca, my parents live in Israel and Australia... so that makes it impossible to live in their basement.
Nice try douche.
seventhSabra 2 months ago
@spysnow333 Fail.
He holds an honorary rank.
seventhSabra 2 months ago 2
@spysnow333 As for "survival situations," if you have been in more of them, then it just shows that you're an idiot who cannot make good decisions in the field and thus must resort to survival tactics.
As for ACTUAL survival, I teach H.E.S.T. as well as advanced desert and Arctic survival tactics. My current work is a PhD Astrophysicist researching next-gen propulsion systems. This means I go to Antarctica and all must pass a survival course. I'm also a member of the "300 Club."
seventhSabra 2 months ago 2
@spysnow333 I'm older than you, so I'd love to know how you've been doing "camping and survival shit" longer than I have.
I've climbed Everest, Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Denali, Rainier, and many others, so I've got you beat in the camping/mountaineering/climbing department. I've bivi'd on the Troll Wall and El Cap, and every year I do a Whitney run where a couple SEAL buddies, and other SF friends run up and down Mt Whitney. I've also done the Mt. Fuji Marathon.
seventhSabra 2 months ago 2
@spysnow333 Now that you've been proven a fraud, I'll fuck you up some more sonny.
Wow, you were shooting at age six and you're from the south. Am I supposed to be impressed? I was shooting 4" groups with my dad's (U.S.A.F. PJ R.I.P.) custom Smith & Wesson model 66-2 at age 5. That's a custom snub-nose .357 Magnum with Glaser Safety Slugs. I was shooting my own Marlin 1895 .45-70 Guide Gun and had killed Grizzly, Moose, Lion, etc by age 13.
seventhSabra 2 months ago 2
@spysnow333 You're a LIAR.
First off, in a PM you claimed to be a Master Sergeant (E-8), now you've changed your rank to Master Gunnery Sergeant (E-9).
And here's the best part... no man of the beloved Corps would misspell his own RANK! You spelled "Sergeant" (correct) as "Sargent" (INCORRECT).
You're a 26 year old douchebag, E-9's are in their 30's typically 32-35.
You haven't seen combat, you haven't done jack shit. You have zero honor, you're a disgrace to real Marines.
seventhSabra 2 months ago 2
@spysnow333 Like I've said, I'm retired Lt. Cmdr Israeli IDF SF.
Israeli women soldiers are more qualified than you are, the average IDF operator is on par with British SAS... and that's just our "general forces," not SF.
And it's "you're" not "your," I know YOU'RE just an uneducated E-8, but I'd expect more from YOUR country's pathetic educational system.
seventhSabra 2 months ago
@spysnow333 I don't talk shit. As far as talking down to people, you couldn't be further from the truth. I'm a Lt. Commander, so by rank alone it was my job to "talk down" to people. I know my stuff, I'm an extremely Alpha male, and with my real life/combat experience, Ivy League education, world travel, linguistic diversity, extreme wealth, and genius IQ, I'm a superior to most anyone. I'm not putting people down, I state facts. Grow thicker skin, adapt and overcome.

gunfan50bmg 4 months ago
@seventhSabra They put out the 2nd version of this knife earlier this year and reinforced the pommel. The newer design has a 1/4 inch orange stripe at the base, the older one shown here has an 1/8th inch stripe. This knife is solid now so do your homework.
gregnotes 4 months ago
@gregnotes I'm a knife expert, I've done my homework, it's STILL crap. After "fixing" the pommel issue, the knife still breaks, there are plenty of field tests with the "improved" version where the knife is completely destroyed in less than 20 min of real survival bushcraft tasks.
The knife STILL IS NOT FULL TANG, x-rays prove this... do YOUR homework.
It's crap, pure crap, and that's an insult to crap. It's only use is sussing out Bear Grylls wannabes who want to 'play' survival.

@seventhSabra Ha I own it and it works great, so I've done MY homework. I could care less what you think it works awesome! You knife 'elitist connoisseurs' crack me up, it doesn't need a full tang to stop a predator. I have an axe and a ghurka kukri for serious chopping, have fun splitting wood with your knife!
gregnotes 3 months ago
@seventhSabra the truth is bro, any knife is gonna break, your a knife expert, i respect that, but just because some dick wad posts a video of him doing something stupid and breaking his knife doesnt mean it wont be useful in a survival situation,
Thomner1 2 months ago
@Thomner1 Any knife won't break. TO give you an idea, most decent knives (better than this one) will break around 15-20 degrees of bend and 150-200 ft-lbs force. True Survival knives like I use ESEE 5, Bark river Bravo 1, Fallkniven A1 won't break untill past 90 degrees bend and 700-900 ft-lbs force. A true knive is meant to be pounded on through the toughest hardwood in -40F (where settl become so brittle it can shatter like glass) and still survive.
seventhSabra 2 months ago 4
@seventhSabra why didnt i see this comment just now? hahaha and in my experience in knives, they all will break somehow, it just depends on how easily, i havnt tried any of the knives you listed, but i think im gonna look into a Fallkniven,
Thomner1 2 months ago
@Thomner1 Trust me, you CANNOT break the knives I listed. The knife destruction tests for those models required industrial equipment in a very well equipped machine shop in order to cause a break. There just isn't anything a human can do to a 6mm thick chunk of super-steel to cause breakage. With ESEE and Bark River, their warranty covers even the most negligent abuse for the lifetime of the knife, no questions asked. You break it, you get a brand new blade.
seventhSabra 2 months ago
@seventhSabra a lot of you guys that are commenting on this calling his knife complete crap because of the durability obviously havnt seen even one show of his, survival isnt just about going around throwing your knife into trees i know its not Full tang, but you dont necessarily need a full tang knife in a survival situation, to be honest, all i would use my knife for is for cutting rope, skinning animals, and making notches in sticks for
Thomner1 2 months ago
@Thomner1 Well the serrations and terrible blade geometry would make this a horrible skinning knife. Cutting rope, there are much better/more capable choices for less. Making notches in sticks? This still fails at that task. Again this is the "Ultimate Survival Knife" according to Gerber; none of what you mentioned equates to survival. The classic test for a survival knife is batoning, and this thing is toast after 20min of moderate baton work on medium wood.
seventhSabra 2 months ago 5
@seventhSabra dude all of which i said is part of a survival situation xDD i have one, the sereations are still there and i beat this knife to shit just doing stupid stuff, like throwing it into trees, and although you know a lot about knives, i know a lot about survival, like there are other ways to baton wood, you dont have to use a knife, and you dont even need to baton wood period, and there is no such thing as a moderate survival situation, it can happen anywhere, at anytime with anyone
Thomner1 2 months ago
@Thomner1 I'm a retired Lt. Cmdr. SpecOps, a mountaineer, and a H.E.S.T. instructor, spare me your "knowledge" of survival.
I've survived in placed like Antarctica or the desert at 15,000 ft where there is no wood to baton.
I've watched at least 80-85% of Bear's shows, some are good, especially the first few seasons. But it's a fake survival show. I know some guides who have been survival consults for a particular region where he's going, he breaks several knives every episode.
seventhSabra 2 months ago 4
@seventhSabra Rofl kid,you ain't shit and you'll never be shit...I had the knife for almost 5 months now and i used it probably 3 times per day in the woods and it never broke on me yet.you need to learn how to maintain you're knifes.

@seventhSabra i respect that ^ cause thats where i want to be when im done with high school, but the point im trying to get across is you dont need to baton, there is no specific need to baton other than for fire, which can still be managed without split wood, i have taken a few survival courses, and one of the students was batoning, a chunk of wood, and he slipped, damn near cut his foot off, i think that its a good knife for some tasks, not all but some
Thomner1 2 months ago
@Thomner1 There are many reasons to baton, fire is just the most obvious, and frankly the most important of all survival abilities. If you can't make fire, you're screwed.
seventhSabra 2 months ago
@seventhSabra yeah, the way i was taught, was the main reason to baton is for fire,to me personally, i think that having cordage is more important than batoning, but i havnt had to much experience with batoning,
Thomner1 2 months ago
It would be perfect if only they added a ceramic serration sharpener onto the side of the sheath

This knife is good i have plenty of knives and this is not a bad knife at all, for its size its very efficient, only bad thing abougth it is that the steel is too soft the maintain the type serations that this knife has

seventhSabra 4 months ago 4
@yourredcomrade2 Carbon is fine if you're in a dry environment, but what if you're in Alaska, or the Pacific Northwest Rainforests?
Furthermore, with today's super-steels, the need for carbon steel is almost a bygone era. Hands down the three best makers of survival blades are ESEE, Fallkniven, and Bark River. Bark River and Fallkniven both specialize in phenomenal SS survival blades. I usually prefer my Bravo 1 SS or Fallkniven A1/S1/F1 to my ESEE blades.
seventhSabra 3 months ago 3
@yourredcomrade2 You clearly know nothing about steel. All of the best steel variations in the world are SS. S30V is arguably the best steel on earth, designed specifically for knives, look at any super high end knife, it has S30V. Bark River and Fallkniven make the best survival knives on earth; Fallkies are laminated VG10 or 3G (both SS), while Bark River uses A2 "semi-stainless" and CPM154 which is a stainless super-steel. High carbon blades are great too, each has pros/cons.

I don't know why everyone hates on Bear, he's already accomplished more than any of you will in a lifetime. Youngest guy from the UK to climb Everest, has a survival show, was in the special forces and much more. He's a smart business man.
NothinButPow 6 months ago
@NothinButPow He's a cool guy, but he sold out BIG TIME.
For the record, I've done everything Bear has accomplished, and much more. Bear's show is sensationalized and designed to entertain; it is NOT a valid instructional program. The show is staged and it's become a series of gimmicks involving drinking pee, eating something gross, scrambling/abseiling/jumping, and opining about nature.
Man, Woman, Wild is a much better show, but nothing beast getting out and doing it yourself.

this knife isnt designed for the ex special forces guys...this knife is designed for a fuckin average person to be able to a fighting chance at surviving in the wild, should worse come to worse, and is 40 bucks, sorry that it isnt a fucking chainsaw made for fucking rambo, and costs 200 dollars, seventhsab, you have obviously missed the entire point of this knife.
umwhoalol 7 months ago
@umwhoalol No, I really didn't, you missed the entire point of my posts as a survival expert. Someone like myself doesn't even need a knife to survive, but someone with out my experience does, and they need that knife to be able to take to most severe punishment and continue to function. This knife can't do that, but its buyers think it can, thus they are lulled into a false sense of security. How many people who bought this actually went out and tried to make a fire/build shelter...
seventhSabra 7 months ago 3
@umwhoalol ... having a knife means you need to practice with it just like having a gun requires practice to become proficient. Anyone who does go out and try to use this in a mock survival situation will quickly realize that they basically have a novelty knife.
I never said you had to buy a $200 knife, in fact most of what I recommended was in the $80-$130 range. I teach survival to the SEAL Teams, as well as Boy Scouts, and climbing/scientific expeditions...
seventhSabra 7 months ago
@seventhSabra dont comment so damn much, runs up my email box. anyways, i have this knife, its sturdy and reliable, its doesnt break because i dont bataan it and chop through trees with it the reason i havent,is BECAUSE IT TELLS YOU NOT TO.,otherwise its held up fine with no problems, just because i havent thrown it in a trash compacter doesnt mean it isnt a good knife,
this knife was 39 bucks, and ive lit fires with it no problem, also, they used to break.USED TO.its been recalled and improved.
umwhoalol 7 months ago
@umwhoalol Just because it tell you not to doesn't mean you don't, or are you one of those boring types who always plays by all the rules in life? Batoning is a quintessential component of a survival knife, "they" tell you not to because "they" know that this isn't a real survival knife and as basic tests have proven, it gets destroyed during a simple baton test. My ESEE and Fallknivens have batoned thousands of logs, other than a few minor scratches, they're as new.
seventhSabra 7 months ago
Respond to this video... you've got 1 thing with you and its a knife and you're an average joe blow, now do you want to buy an 80 dollar knife that wont break on you,and be totally fucked on everything else cus u have a knife with no knowledge at fucking at all?or do you want a full tang knife with a fire starter, sharpening block, pommel, whistle and small pamphlet on basic survival skills, that wont break on you anyways?
thats the point of this knife. not to chop down a fucking tree.
umwhoalol 7 months ago
@umwhoalol You forget the first rule of survival: you never have one tool with you, your #1 piece of equipment is your brain. What's better, this POS for $50, or a BK2 for $70, a real firesteel $10, you don't need a sharpener with a real survival knife - it can be sharpened on a rock, whistle $3, paracord 50' for $3.50... you've spent under $100 and you have a basic kit that will actually work. If your life isn't worth the price of a decent ($70) knife, then you don't deserve to be rescued.
seventhSabra 7 months ago 3
@seventhSabra a joe blow wont even know what to buy,nor will he pay 90 bucks on a kit, but he MIGHT (i say might because most wont even do that) be willing to pay 39.00 bucks for basic knife and survival kit online...such as this. how in the hell do you know if its a decent knife or not, when the only breaking videos on youtube, are from the pommel being broken off after being trashed like hell, and then the knife being recalled and improved anyways?why dont you buy one,and review it yourself
umwhoalol 7 months ago
@umwhoalol Watch E2E review and field test of the knife, it's destroyed in 20 min and gets a big fat F. Watch the knife destruction tests at knifetests com, again this thing gets totaled is hardly any time with very little force.
I don't need to buy the knife to know it's crap. When you're a knife expert as I am, you can just look at a blade and know its quality. It's not full tang, it has a cheesy plastic liner with rubberized grips, it has serrations, poor steel, the list goes on.
seventhSabra 7 months ago 4
@seventhSabra e2e has a review, but it was never destroyed,in fact he never even showed a field test,he just had the knife, and was talking about it,saying he didnt like the serrations.noss (the guy at knifetests) never reviewed it... it is full tang, but is covered by the pommel, complaining about rubber grips? WOW. the steel?well for 40 dollars i challenge you to find a better blade...you literally lied 3 times there,im seriously starting to doubt your "expertise"
umwhoalol 7 months ago
@umwhoalol Nope, he has a field test as well, it's even to the right in the list of videos jackass. It' IS NOT FULL TANG, an x-ray of the knife will prove this, not to mention that when this POS breaks you can see that it isn't full tang, at best it's a modified rat tang... it's based off the LMF II which Gerber states IS NOT FULL TANG. Yea, I'm going to complain about the shit grips on this shit knife, a Mora (one of their more expensive models) costs $18 and is a far better knife.
seventhSabra 6 months ago 5
@seventhSabra I see you are really into knifes. So what is your top 3 list of good knifes, which you recommend me to buy? I want to buy a knew knife for next summer.
degekkejoop 3 months ago
@degekkejoop I'm assuming you want a fixed blade since this is a fixed blade video.
Next budget, use, and local climate will dictate what you get.
Fallkniven is one of my favorites, blades range from $100-$1500+. Their top end survival knives (A1, S1, F1) are some of the world's best and range from $110-$170.
ESEE are phenomenal, but they're all high carbon steel, they'll rust in wet/humid environments.
Bark river are another top notch company.
I own knives from all and love them.

Don't be that guy.
seventhSabra 7 months ago
"Buck and gerber r some of the best knives in the world" wtf u smoking any knife company that uses stainless steel for 95% of there knives is a shit sunday with shit sprinkles on top! For just about the same price go with Cold Steel three times the knife for a few $ more.
dabeerguy79 7 months ago
People always talk about how great the sheath is. First off, it's not. Second, if the sheath is the high point of a knife, you got problems because you don't have a knife.
seventhSabra 7 months ago 17
@seventhSabra its funny, i've seen you on about 4 other videos talking smack about the Bear Grylls knife, you got something against him? because thats the main reason people dont like the knife, its not that bad
ECHO7AIRSOFT 4 months ago
@ECHO7AIRSOFT Not talking smack, talking fact
Nothing against Bear, but this knife sucks. I'm a knife expert (amongst other things), he isn't, and Gerber is the Hyundai of Knives. This is a lame version of the Gerber Prodigy, which is a lame version of the LMFII, which is a 7/10 knife at best.
seventhSabra 4 months ago
@seventhSabra i see where you are coming from, i have this knife as well as the LMF2 and the BK2, this knife is good for bear gryll enthusiasts, not so much extreme survival i'll agree with you on that, but in my opinion its not that bad. sure the serrations suck and if there wasn't serrations it would've been better, this is a good knife for short term survival, not so much long term, thats where better knives come into play, like the LMF2 and the BK2.
ECHO7AIRSOFT 4 months ago
@ECHO7AIRSOFT BK2 rocks, I have an ESEE 5 which is almost identical in dimensions (custom sheaths for the BK2 fit the ESEE 5 perfectly), just higher end components.
seventhSabra 4 months ago
@seventhSabra i just hope that Gerber re makes these series to:
1 not have serrations at all
2. have it keep the primer longer
3 be a little more durable
4 make it a little less cheesey
and 5 make the steel stonger
ECHO7AIRSOFT 4 months ago
@ECHO7AIRSOFT Yea, unfortunately they'll never do that, they don't listen to their customers or criticism about their products. If they did they'd be back at the LMF II minus the serrations and better steel, that will be a $100+ knife... Fallkniven F1 or ESEE 4 are 10 times better for the same price.
Bear is paid big bucks to have his namesake used on this thing, on the show they need to take about 5 of these as they keep breaking, thus it isn't a survival knife. Boy Scout knife at best.
seventhSabra 4 months ago
@seventhSabra yeah, ill probally use this for boy scouts too.
