Seriously? I guess it is sort of subjective to a degree, but the Japanese "o" sound is the same one found in "hope" or "old". Do those sound like "aw" to you? Hawp? Really?
I always pronounced "Naruto" with the "o" sound found in "hope" & "old" but my Japanese friend would always correct me by saying something more like "Narutaw"
The last syllable in Naruto in the Japanese language would be "to" rather than the "o" on itself and this "to" is pronounced like the "to" in "toffee". Just listen to the characters say his name in regular speech on the show. "O" on it's own in the Japanese language is used very differently depending on the dialect you use and context. So that would add to it's subjectivity somewhat. But at least the romanisation is a walk in the park compaired to Chinese :-) somebody F'd up there imo.
Just an Englishman speaking English is all. Ironic that our own regional differences make it even harder to converse about regional differences in other countries. Just goes to show there's always something lost in translation. Ho humm.
did you even watch the matches? it was a damn close set of matches. If this was that match a few months back then I could see where you're coming from. And what the heck is dick suRFing?
I think it's because they're a little tired of seeing Daigo win constantly, and would like someone that isn't from Japan take the title. Justin Wong is the best bet right now, but we'll have to wait until next year to see if he can take the title.
justin vs daigo is the celtics vs lakers of the gaming world :)

Justin would quit SF completely if Daigo beat him the same way he did years ago:)

Your thinking of dai loh.
SONIXDX 2 years ago
No, I'm thinking Dai Gaw.
Dwakey 2 years ago
Yeah but its closer to gow kinda debatable like how "hat" sounds similiar to "no" in chinese its all in the pronounciation and tone.
SONIXDX 2 years ago
Yea, its pretty subjective. I just feel the Japanese pronunciation of "o" sounds more like "aw" than "ow"

Not sure how you pronounce "toffee", but I don't see how it could sound all that much like the Japanese "to"...

Eh, I'm not tired of Daigo winning. Both players played extremely well, I would've been happy if either won.
People need to stop getting their panties in the whole country vs country issue. They're both people; from Earth; end story.
