Amazingly enough, having been with CP for a couple of years, I DO know names. I know her as "Sam". She goes by several names. I met her as Sam, and many call her Sam. When did you join Code Pink? Funny how you seem to know so much about people's names, who's in Code Pink, that you've talked to them so much, been at the MRS "a lot"....are you one of our spies? Or did you think we didn't know we had any?

Hey. I'm not anyone's spy -- but I'll assume you meant it as a compliment. I have paid attention to this situation since September, and may have read everything on the Internet that pertains, including Zanne/Sam's entire Road Journal. Zanne has a nice voice, but she speaks in sound bites and is easily confused in debate. She also sometimes says things she probably doesn't mean, when provoked. (Most holocaust survivor offspring don't say WWII was a mistake, for instance.)

Well, she is one, so obviously there are exceptions. I won't say anything else about HER feelings about WWII, it's not my place to do so. And I still think you know more about CP and it's people than you'd get off the Internet. Maybe you're one of us, but don't wish to admit it?

Sam lost MANY in the camps, she has very strong feelings about it. If she said WWII was a mistake, she's talking as so many of us, that ALL wars are "mistakes", and it never should have happened. There were times when Hitler could easily have been take out, and the whole chaotic mess unraveled, INCLUDING 6M Jews murdered, and gays, and "deviants" (whatever their definition was for that), and those murdered seemingly for no real reason at all. I agree with "alabaster". (hi, see ya this week!)

I guess she could have meant that it was a mistake by Hitler. I think the majority of people who have seen the video on which she said it assumed she meant it was a mistake for the US to become involved.

It does bring up that classic point of disagreement - Hitler didn't do what he did by mistake, it was because he was evil; war is the necessary response to the existence of evil that must be constrained.You're right. A less moral Allied force could have taken Hitler out sooner & saved lives.

Are you serious? Maybe I've just talked to her so many times I no longer hear her. I do have a problem with her speaking FOR me, since I live in Berkeley. Most of the local Code PINK people don't, by the way.

I don't know why she's Sam, but would be interested to. I don't mean her any harm - but do see her as reactive and full of sound bites when in debate with people who disagree with CodePINK. She gets so excited when someone asks her a question for which she knows the official Code PINK party line.

Sometimes I also feel badly for her, because I think she's very invested in Code PINK, and Medea is pulling her strings.

I try to be understanding of other peoples opinions, I really do. It's just that sometimes folks speak with "feelings" rather than thinking something through. "Let's all just hold hands and the Berkley karma will end all war." Nice dream, but it's time to wake up. No one hates war more than the ones that have fought them, but grow up for God's sake!

Last I noticed, we were all grown ups. Depends on your definition. For example, I happen to think that someone who needs an automatic weapon to achieve anything or feel "manly" needs to "grow up".

I can't decipher your comment. Are you suggesting that Armstrong and Getty are against military recruiting, or are the numbers you put down a tally of some sort of scores that you made up based on a point-system? If the second is true, then your argument is clearly based on emotion rather than logic. What is so unconstitutional about recruiting for a military that the constitution created?
