Everyone has to realise that this game is almost 6 years old, it was supposed to be a launch title for the 360 in japan (most of the 360 launch titles werent all that impressive). its a decent enough game. most jrpg fans will probably get something out of it :) oh and to whoever said it takes a long time to finish, its pretty short for a jrpg -.-
The game had an interesting twist or two, but even those twists were concealed in a very normal RPG plot. I wanted the game to focus more on Atsuma and his background (which seemed like the most interesting parts to me), but it unfortunately didn't. So a lot of interesting plot nuggets in there, but not utilized properly.
Not a bad game, but once I finished it I didn't feel the need to play it ever again.
There was definitely nothing really innovative in this game, but I still had a lot of fun playing it. I never got bored with the battle system and it really settled my cravings for a JRPG. I'd recommend this game to anyone who likes JRPGS. My only real problem with this was how easy the bosses were, as the most difficult boss, at least in my opionion, was professor kou at the beginning.
*spoiler alert* a lot of japanese games don't transfer very well into good american games. culture is too different. the ending sucked, the game ended up being a bit too childish and homosexual. can't believe i wasted so much time playing this. BUT, you automatically get 100% achieves if you finish the game, AND it looks like Karin and Atsuma end up hookin up together :)

Hate to break it to him but, the fact that there are 12 Final Fantasy console games and people still continue to buy them means there is something they're doing right one way or another. he's a little off when he described the game. He makes it sound a little too simple. While I do agree about the area's being a little dead and leaving you wanting for some background action, it's not that bad. I think the story itself is pretty neat. Each of the main characters has their own story that comes into light through the game. It's worth a shot if you like RPGs. The only tip I have for anyone is, make sure you really level up through the game or you will regret it towards the end.

This game deserves way more credit than it gets, seriously. I enjoyed the story and its characters, the Golem collecting was awesome, and it was cool how they each had their own character bio, and the voices weren't that bad. It's not the voices themselves, but it's more of HOW they deliver some of the lines. The only thing I agree with is that the environments do feel lifeless, when I'm in a forest, I wanna see nature and animals and stuff. Great game overall.
When are they going to start talking about FPSs the way the talk about JRPGs? Go from point a to piont be shoot everything that shoots at you. Then go into a MP map and shoot people in the back for virtual street cred... Enchanted Arms is awesome even though the borrowed a bit from Naruto and turned the Sakura character into an effeminate dude, it's still awesome.

@UanimeS voice acting doesn't coincide with dialogue. A good japanese voice actor can portray emotion correctly, a bad american voice actor replaces that emotion with high pitched whines. What the actors actually say is irrelevant.

battle gameplay seems sort of like a makeshift version of the MegaMan Battle Network battles. Only it's turn-based rather than active, and multiple allies rather than just Mega Man.

I, for one, hate Enchanted Arms. The characters are boring and lame, the combat system fails miserably, and the dialouge makes up more than half the game.
Using Golems is fun for awhile, but unless you're determined to catch'em all. Then you're better off with the main characters.
I think I got about 18 hours into the game before I finally gave up and let it sit in my drawer for the last few years.
the game has nice elements but it gets rather tedious after the first 5 to 10 hours or so
the things I liked about it:
fully healed after each battle,
save at anytime and anywhere you want,
the map tells you were you need to go,
battle system being on a grid like a tactics game you always need to think instead of just pressing the same button again and again selecting "attack" like in most jrpgs,
micro managing monsterous allies called "golems" to help you in battle
What pissed me off more than anything was the back of the case...
"EXPERIENCE ONE of the FIRST TRUE NEXT-GEN ROLE-PLAYING ADVENTURES". its an ok game, but that statement really looks desperate in trying to say that Final Fantasy sucks, and I don't like it when people try to downplay FF.

Suikoden and Dragon Quest are some decent jrpg better then FF in my opinoin and Golden sun saga is also great.
I likded the fichting in this game and a gay charkter aldo he is stereotyp but its a start, the bad parts are lip sinc and voice over indeed somtimes=monster talk Japanese while your party talks English, not the main bosses but ohtermonsters wherent syncronisded.And the walking was boring, no life indeed, but great battel system, ita a decent 6,5 7 for me

@ aNtiiPaThY, thanks for the suggestion. Spectral Force 3 looks pretty awesome, not so much Zoids. The only thing is that SF3 is more like Final Fantasy Tactics, which is also good. I'm still trying to find something that mimics the half and half grid field instead of being able to move all over.

its a incredible game, when i first played it i pretty much rushed the game and was stuck on the last boss pretty much gimping myself with no items left.
well the second time i played, i went to the casino, beat fire, wind, earth and water guardians and then beat omega perhaps the toughest boss in the game.
most powerful character in the game in my opinion is yuki.
but her sniper shot is one of the most powerful in the game especially against omega who is one of the most powerful golem's in the game, which her sniper shot helped me a hell of a lot.
i always have yuki in my party especially for bosses as her sniper shot just makes the game too easy, anyone who has really played with her will know what i am talking about here.
im with that guy jrpgs have there down side but the are way better then the fps games that are all the same games over and over i love jrpgs and anime

Yes, there is a "New Game Plus", at least for PS3. Once you beat Infinity, you keep all of your XP and TB and Golems, etc, but all it does is start you right outside the Queen of Ice's castle again and gives you a shitty Golem Core.
So you don't have a "new game" just a new save outside of where you probably saved anyway.
You do have to give the game a chance as I would say that it doesn't "put its best foot forward". Yes, the gay guy is annoying but he goes away after a few hours. It is also annoying to be lectured on how to climb ladders and open chests but that goes away too.
I read that the developers "nerfed" the game from the XBox version as the boss battles were too hard in that one.
While I actually enjoyed this game, it is pathetically easy on the PS3. With the exception of 3 bosses (including Omega) I used "Auto Battle" the ENTIRE game, even for the final boss. Took me about 32 hours to do everything.
i think its funny that people will say a game sucks just because it is jrpg when most people that complain haven't even spent the time on rpgs enough to know more than what they hear, western rpgs are good and for the biggest part of the selection worth spending every penny but jrpgs are just better ..but i guess it depends who you ask there are people that say rpgs suck all together

so it doesnt matter if its a jrpg or western, its the matter of is it good enough to actually play and enjoy, we got to be critical of both.
I personally don't like wrpg. I never did, I don't know why, but there's something that makes jrpg much better. They really have great games like final fantasy games. You'll never see a game that good from western!

This game got bad reviews.. But it's unique.. I got it for 12 dollars.. I love it.. I love the plot of it. Anytime something comes up different, people usualy want to bash it, because it may not have the same or be as good as a very epic game. The game is not total shit at all. I have 47 hours in it and I am 66% done with the game. But I am taken time to level characters up as well. RPG's will never have the same value as the old school ones did to old school gamers. Good game though. Try it.

This game deserves way more credit than it gets, seriously. I enjoyed the story and its characters, the Golem collecting was awesome, and it was cool how they each had their own character bio, and the voices weren't that bad. It's not the voices themselves, but it's more of HOW they deliver some of the lines. The only thing I agree with is that the environments do feel lifeless, when I'm in a forest, I wanna see nature and animals and stuff. Great game overall.

When are they going to start talking about FPSs the way the talk about JRPGs? Go from point a to piont be shoot everything that shoots at you. Then go into a MP map and shoot people in the back for virtual street cred... Enchanted Arms is awesome even though the borrowed a bit from Naruto and turned the Sakura character into an effeminate dude, it's still awesome.

@UanimeS voice acting doesn't coincide with dialogue. A good japanese voice actor can portray emotion correctly, a bad american voice actor replaces that emotion with high pitched whines. What the actors actually say is irrelevant.

@hellofart16 Without knowing the language your not going to know when they are expressing emotion or not considering you do not know what they are saying, My point was, the 2 languages are different, even the way you express emotion can be different,sounds are not the exact same position wise or even sound wise when comparing the 2 languages.I understand that there are many monotone and plain boring English voice actors but that can be said for many Japanese voice actors also

battle gameplay seems sort of like a makeshift version of the MegaMan Battle Network battles. Only it's turn-based rather than active, and multiple allies rather than just Mega Man.

I, for one, hate Enchanted Arms. The characters are boring and lame, the combat system fails miserably, and the dialouge makes up more than half the game.
Using Golems is fun for awhile, but unless you're determined to catch'em all. Then you're better off with the main characters.
I think I got about 18 hours into the game before I finally gave up and let it sit in my drawer for the last few years.

the game has nice elements but it gets rather tedious after the first 5 to 10 hours or so
the things I liked about it:
fully healed after each battle,
save at anytime and anywhere you want,
the map tells you were you need to go,
battle system being on a grid like a tactics game you always need to think instead of just pressing the same button again and again selecting "attack" like in most jrpgs,
micro managing monsterous allies called "golems" to help you in battle

he obviously never played the game, first says there's no distinct features, then goes on about the combat system, and hear how he's pausing while speaking? He's either reading off que cards or wikipedia! It's so bad it's funny! if you don't like the voice acting, switch to Japanese! Convincing golems to join your party? That never happenes, and he ends by repeating himself.

Suikoden and Dragon Quest are some decent jrpg better then FF in my opinoin and Golden sun saga is also great.
I likded the fichting in this game and a gay charkter aldo he is stereotyp but its a start, the bad parts are lip sinc and voice over indeed somtimes=monster talk Japanese while your party talks English, not the main bosses but ohtermonsters wherent syncronisded.And the walking was boring, no life indeed, but great battel system, ita a decent 6,5 7 for me

@ aNtiiPaThY, thanks for the suggestion. Spectral Force 3 looks pretty awesome, not so much Zoids. The only thing is that SF3 is more like Final Fantasy Tactics, which is also good. I'm still trying to find something that mimics the half and half grid field instead of being able to move all over.

its a incredible game, when i first played it i pretty much rushed the game and was stuck on the last boss pretty much gimping myself with no items left.
well the second time i played, i went to the casino, beat fire, wind, earth and water guardians and then beat omega perhaps the toughest boss in the game.
most powerful character in the game in my opinion is yuki.

but her sniper shot is one of the most powerful in the game especially against omega who is one of the most powerful golem's in the game, which her sniper shot helped me a hell of a lot.
i always have yuki in my party especially for bosses as her sniper shot just makes the game too easy, anyone who has really played with her will know what i am talking about here.

Yes, there is a "New Game Plus", at least for PS3. Once you beat Infinity, you keep all of your XP and TB and Golems, etc, but all it does is start you right outside the Queen of Ice's castle again and gives you a shitty Golem Core.
So you don't have a "new game" just a new save outside of where you probably saved anyway.

You do have to give the game a chance as I would say that it doesn't "put its best foot forward". Yes, the gay guy is annoying but he goes away after a few hours. It is also annoying to be lectured on how to climb ladders and open chests but that goes away too.

I read that the developers "nerfed" the game from the XBox version as the boss battles were too hard in that one.
While I actually enjoyed this game, it is pathetically easy on the PS3. With the exception of 3 bosses (including Omega) I used "Auto Battle" the ENTIRE game, even for the final boss. Took me about 32 hours to do everything.

i did enjoy the gameplay though and the music but the story was bland and the characters were not worth caring about in my opinion.
i think a decent jrpg which i enjoyed was eternal sonta which had a interesting story about chopan the musician and the characters were quite interesting and also the gameplay kept me interested throughout.

This game got bad reviews.. But it's unique.. I got it for 12 dollars.. I love it.. I love the plot of it. Anytime something comes up different, people usualy want to bash it, because it may not have the same or be as good as a very epic game. The game is not total shit at all. I have 47 hours in it and I am 66% done with the game. But I am taken time to level characters up as well. RPG's will never have the same value as the old school ones did to old school gamers. Good game though. Try it.
