my b&g does tghe same thing.. hes obessed with his next scratched... alot of times he will jump on you and start rubbing his head off you... quick lunge squak and then start rubbing his head off you to try to hint at it... lol
@tomsamja actually if you google macaws for sale in.........(wherever you live) than u cud get many answers. i tried it and went on this website called oodles.com and there are tons of ppl selling them for FREE to $300..however you will be rehoming one, if thats alright.anyway, i emailed 3 ppl from there and already got one response i am hoping for the other 2. and they come with cages! really good deals if you search!
@chelsea4life111 Of course it does! It can snap your bone just like that, and you will be rushed to the emergency room. I hope you research a long time, and know they cost about $2,000 for all the supplies, cost about $150 a month, and that you should have $400 set aside for emergency vet bills, they scream very loud, make a huge mess if unsupervised, and LOTS of other things. Maybe you should just get a cockatiel if you're afraid of a macaw beak...
@stacysaysrawr101 i know that, i meant when it does it playfully, besides i just bought one last week, it took most of my money, its great. screams quite loud sometimes.
Watching this made me feel like i was watching my B & G; she acts exactly like that when someone talks to her, doesn't say much usually when you talk to her except for maybe a few soft little squacks. It's only when she's having one of her silly moments that she talks back! She also tends to scratch her herself just like Max was doing while you talk to her!
People really should research a bit before bringing a parrot home. It's just their nature to remind the universe of their presence once or twice a day. My blue and gold and my little conure both have their "jungle sessions" and it's fun to watch them (though occasionally with my hands over my ears!). ;-)
Justin if you could of seen him last night you would of thought NOT! He was hanging off a round metal ring haning from the ceiling totally upside down and I think he thought he was a monkey lol. I adore all my parrots but anyone that is interested in one please RESEARCH they are extremely hard work. It's like having a 2 year old for many many years. Thank you very much for the comment xoxo
What did you do to limit the screaming? Ours doesn't scream that much (morning and dusk). But would like to control it more if I could. He's great though. I have him spoiled rotten!!! Your bird is great! And thanks for giving him a good him! Should be more people like you!!
i tel ya wat a good person you are the people that had that bird should have never got it .we all know they screem.even my mickey budgie does that but he has lots of att. all the time .Must just be a loud family he he he
i should my blue and gold macaw this video on my laptop and and he was bobbin his head talking to him like he really was there. hilarious love your bird
aww got this video saved to my favs! What a happy bird you have!
He musta been screaming for attention he did not get in his previous home; I feel sorry for birds that do not get the attention they need; people need to realize that birds like macaws greys and amazons are like children and they do need quality time just like children.
now Max has a friend named chewy with him at our home. Chewy is a 11 month old B/G and a real sweetheart! But Max gives us an attitude more often when we go near the 2. Will post a video of them both when I get a chance.
they cost anywhere from £600 to £1500 but PLEASE research before buying a parrot! They can be loud, extremely messy, distructive and they tend to bite very very hard! I know of a person who lost a iner because he angered a B/G macaw and he took his finger completely off. Beautiful birds but don't start off with a lare parrot. Buy a handreared budgie first. They have unique personalities and if you can deal with them then graduate to a larger bird.
I dont think putting him in a 'quiet' room is whats quietened him down,I think its your quiet, calming manner that has everything 2do with how your bird is..
If I walk away from my grey and go 2another room, even tho he can see me in well positioned mirrors,he shouts for me to come back..indeed,going in another room gives me the chance to hear any new words he's picked up,he sometimes wont talk when im in with him..
Love max, I have a 14 yo B&G, DNA'd female. Awesome birds, she sits on my shoulder as I type. They love those head scritches! Anywho - love that ceiling texturing, is it texture or a type of tile, fabric or what?
Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please see my video clip on a parrot animation and some Victorian trading cards of exotic birds such as parrots, paradise bird, toucan, humming bird etc.
find a room with quiet and no distractions, put a huge cage (with toys) in there and when he starts screaming say NO TIME OUT! then put him in the quiet room. When he quiets down run in and say good boy and get him out straight away. When you first do this he'll probably start yelling again before you make it to the main room. As soon as the screaming starts do it again. It took 3 days and Max caught on and it was well worth it!
im getting one blue macaw in like 8 months

This is cute. Parrots are noisy, if you want a quiet, affectionate animal, get a kitty that doesn't talk!
FrauBudgie 5 years ago
Was there any trick to getting him quieter? Mine just turned 2 years old, and has become very noise.
