How to put NEW widgets on your Archos 5

i download the widget files. i cant get the zipped file. how do i put .widget files? it doesnt recognize it

i follow the steps in the movie but still it says when i go to widgets on my archos: no widgets found. can you maybe tell me how to transfer wgt to zip? i'm not sure whether i'm doing that right..

You have to connect your Archos 5 as USB HDD to your (Windows based OS) PC and change the extension to .zip via PC. Another way to do it if this all fails is to download WinRAR and install it. When you open the .wgt file, open it with WinRAR and repack it as a .zip file.

OK, Havin' issues. Downloads as .wgt file so I change extension to .zip. After I transfer to my 5 and try to launch it says can't play this file. Am I missing something??

Your great dude, but Do you need to be connect to the internet to play at those flash games ?Because I don't have the WIFI everywhere I go

you dont need Wifi to play all the games but if you download a Twitter or Facebook widget then you will

well when you click the Launch thing a new page will come up telling you to download opera. look around the pace and you will find a link/box that says "Get the Files!" under the "You can also...". after you download them it will be in a .WGT form, change the ending to a .zip and put em on your Archos!

@dlinkd2 I changed the end of the files to .zip and it made it into the folder, and it showed up on my Archos- but it won't launch the program when I double click.

NO DONT DOWNLOAD IT!!! unless you want a new browser, it should say something like Copy and Paste this into your adress bar, just do that step and dont get Opera

Maybe you can help me with this:

I'm trying to get some new widgets on my Archos 5. You say when you download a new widget, it will download it as a zip folder.. but actually when I'm downloading a new widget, it downloads it as a .wgt file, so that's why my Archos 5 does't accept the new widgets.. Even if I'm dropping it in a zip folder, it won't work. Can you help me with it? I hope so..

Do you have the latest updates? there has been a lot coming out so if it needs an update it may take that .wgt, but i am most comon of seeing that type of file on my Fedora computer, and i dont think you can extract it, that format is also meant for some cell phones. and putting that into a zip wont do the trick, find some .zip widgets and take a peek inside, they arent just one file.

yeah I am having this same problem. on my archos all the opera widgets download as a .wgt file, and it will not let me download then on my comp. I have never even heard of wgt files so I cannot get this to work :( all I want is the notes wigdet because my archos is a refurb and did not come with it.

I never got an error code except once when my Archos wasn't registered. I dont have any other help but to Google it and to phone there help-line. sorry

hi mate. keep up the great reviews. Just wonderng have you exprienced any problems with the archos 5 since youve owned it. I got one comig for christmas from my girlfriend, and ive heard quite a few stories about the device having software issues. i.e crashing, freezing, unable to play files, and touch screen failure.

There is some issues, mainly from clicking around too much will make it freeze, or shutdown. But every new software update it happens less and less for me. I had no screen failures and some files you want to see or listen to of a different format it will ask to buy a Plug In ( like when I said that it will ask for the iPod plug in when you watch a video on YouTube that was made by someone using a Mac ). other than that no problems. Don't worry. You will enjoy it and the cool stuff it can do.
