  • its been an honor playing with you this evening gentlemen....thats what the music makes me think of....the sinking of the titanic

  • @gannon1op thats exactly what i thought when I first heard the music :)

  • Watching the pilot again, it's strange seeing how awkward and mousy Pam used to be. I'm glad she's developed into a bolder, more developed character.

  • pam is nice...

  • The main difference between English and American comedy is Pathos. English comedy has no qualms with completely unlikeable characters, take Gareth from UK office as example compared to Dwight. American comedy always gives a character the opportunity to be loved by fans. Another example, Malcolm Tucker from the thick of it versus Ari Gold of Entourage. Both ruthless and crass, but Ari essentially has a heart, and there are genuine moments of emotion that he expresses, and we root for him.

  • @strayebyrd Todd Packer, Angela and Gabe kinda go against this theory, but I see where you're coming from.

  • cool video but...

    why the music?

  • How the fuck can someone say the acting in the US version is better? Seriously, you must be shitting me, the acting is terrible and so is the direction. It feels like you're watching a scripted TV show, unlike the UK version where it actually seems like a documentary. I'm not even a hater, I've loved the US version for a long time, but after watching the UK one, it's better in every way. Maybe some people will like this one better because it's not as "cruel", but that's plain stupidity.

  • @sirloes i want something that doesn't seem lke a boring documentary.

  • @sirloes I don't think it's really better or worse. After the first season, the American one went in a different direction with it. More caricaturish, everything got turned up a bit, where as with the British one, it seems like it's way more realistic, and bit darker. You can't really say one is better than the other by judging them on the same things, because depending on what your criteria is, you'll get different answers.

  • The office, is about acting natural. So do Americans always act like their life is scripted? :/ I Prefer the Uk version

  • the uk office is incomparible to this. i like both but i sometimes feel that the US office is trying to force the comedy down my throat. the humour in the uk office is based around the situation not the jokes and i think that alot of people dont get that.

  • jim > roy

    i swear

  • Who actually stole the post-it notes? I swear one episode ends showing someone stuffing them into their closet? Anyone know?

  • Poor acting compared to the original to be honest.

  • Jdwilson is 100% correct. Everything from the American verion beats the Brit version. Production. Acting. Characters. The Brits are rather boring.

  • @redph0enix2000 I don't think the Brits are boring, but I agree with you on the other comments.

  • I love the face Jim makes right before he says Quantities

  • They're both funny, but I have to say that the US version is funnier.

  • I find it funny that the British version is so dry compared to this. A lot of British comedy is so funny. Maybe they need more Monty Python inspiration

  • it doesnt matter how similar the british version and american version are because the american version is simply better--better acting, better writing, better everything

  • the american version is funnier for numerous reasons, Steve Carrel, the guy who plays Dwight, and the people who play Jim and Pam

  • @one90skater

i'm guessing you're kidding......... or very very sarcastic

  • @fastfootedone nope bud..... anything American is better

  • @one90skater

Especially your guys's economy. Yeah, collectively, everything American is better.

    -.-

  • @Tekkentity yeah well im pretty sure every country goes through recessions. every country has its ups and downs, but good try

  • This is the same as uk version, like word for word. How can people argue over which one is best if the dialogue is exactly the same?

  • So good they got together

  • they didn't "rip off the british concept", it's the british version of the show dumbass.

they never claimed it to be an original idea.

  • ya definatly gervais produces the american version. and if you noticed the WHOLE first and some of the second season are the EXACT same as the british version, if you didnt notice. strgrlollie is correct

  • @StrGrlOllie

the other guy may be a dumbass, but you're pretty stupid too.....this is the AMERICAN version of a British show.....god, are there any intelligent people on youtube....LMAO

  • @fastfootedone are you fucking retarded? I know THIS is the american version.

I was saying the one with ricky gervais, the "original" is just the british version.

  • The reason Ricky Gervaise is okay with it is because he is making a boat load of money off of it. The Americans did not rip off the concept, Gervaise franchised it in several countries.

  • Ricky Gervais isn't just "okay with it", he is an executive producer on The Office US!

  • you all have to understand, that as americans... well we like humor that is easy to understand that we dont have to think about. this is what the office brings us. we love things like thats what she sadi and all that other... stupid crap to be honest. but its FUNNY. thats all that matters, and thank GOD the office can at least let us have that. :)

  • If you want to bitch about it, both shows ripped off the American movie "Office Space".

The American version is hilarious, I hear the British version was as well. Who cares?

  • I've heard form people who watch both versions that the American one is funnier anyways...British folk too

  • I just like the part in this episode when Pam asks Jim if he's going to Angela's cat party because apparently it wasn't even scripted...Angela the actor had given Jenna a sticky note about her cat's birthday party and during the 30 minutes they spend everyday with improv Pam asked that and Angela's cat fancy became part of the show

  • i love both offices bugt most of all i love pam!!!!!

  • I have never seen the uk version but the office is my favorite show ever. You should know that in an interview, Steve carell stated that the pilot episode was actually an exact remake of the uk pilot but every single episode after that are totally original.

  • You just can't beat the original I'm afraid.

  • @Tagikakibau yes you can. it's been done.

  • @Tagikakibau This sucks xD leave the english guys to it

  • I am English :S

  • So am i XD i was agreeing with you

  • Biased much? But I really don't like UK television from what I've tried...just not for me. The US version is hilarious and I really don't care for the UK version...as for that, I don't know why people have to go on comparing them...different types of humor...doesn't make one better than the other, but if you want to be biased, your opinion doesn't matter and shouldn't matter

  • I state fact not opinion

  • the uk and us office shows are completely different. one is more realistic and the other is outrageous and has little do with life in a real office. it's like comparing apples and oranges

  • this pining is adorable! i wish i discovered this earlier.

  • you can see the microphone at the part where roy walks in at the top center

  • I saw that too, but remember, the show is filmed as a fake documentary, so it's supposed to look like they're filming it (on purpose) if that makes sense, so stuff like that happens, possibly on purpose, if you catch it.

  • I have actually watched some of the pilot of the UK office and just cant see why it so hilarious from what ive seen. The dry humor isnt funny to me and it was kind of boring. However the US office uses more emotion(dwight) which is one of the things that makes it outrageously funny and my favorite show ever.

  • i agree the original UK version is hard to get into at first. this isn't meant to be a USvsUK thing. personally i just think the uk version is more real , and therefore i feel more connected to the characters.

  • difference between US an UK humour I expect - from Uk perspective its funny because it is painful awkward and uncomfortable, you have to understand , live through and/or appreciate the culture of the UK - stereotypes, social norms etc to really get it and then once you do you would understand the hilarity and subversiveness of it and how it works on a very subtle level. Not everyone's cup of tea this side either but 10 out of 10 from me

  • it isn't dry humour

  • LoL the music to this video is kind of sad and creepy

  • the best character is kevin. lol. 69. lol.

  • It gets much much better in season two onwards, when it develops its own character, rather than trying to copy the uk version which, as you say, is never to going to work.

  • It really doesn't even take much form the UK version...it's its own show...there are other version, I don't know why people feel the need to come onto The Office US videos and start comparing and poiting fingers...all version are from the same producers but are their own show

  • who the fuck says jello?

    i say jello

    everyone i know says jello

    what do you say?

    pudding??

  • ouch!

  • okay....that video....COULDNT sum the up the office betr. i luvd it! kudos!

  • i personally prefer the US office. dwight kicks ass!!!!

  • oook, i am english, and seen both version and so therefore i can say the US one is SO SO SO much better. more funny.

  • Amen and Amen!

  • @likeicare3 Thas because the english version was much more serious, But the good thing about this version is that its just darn silly and unlike the office original version in the UK they were always in the building its self they never went outside so it was pretty boring. But they had the weird dude with a woncky eye from pirates an the carribian. USA version is much much much better, But the UK started its funnier humour.

  • i cant judge BBCs since I have never watched it, but I have never laughed and cried that hard before when I'm watching The US Office.

  • US OFFICE ROCKS! BOO YAH!!!

  • The BBC's was hilarious, true, and of course the US version is nearly verbatim to the other, but the US is much more likeable for one reason only: Jim and Pam have the greatest story line and on-screen chemistry of any couple I've ever seen. I am pretty much annoyed by everyone else and think the show could be condensed to what goes on between the two of them.

  • totally agree

  • Oh man, touching. Jim and Pam's relationship reminds me of me and someone I used to know... good video, although the pilot episode is by and large considered by far the worst in the American series, as they just did the British version's pilot line for line with cultural references changed. Season two's finale was heart wrenching, can't wait for season three.
