  • This is sublime. thank you

  • Makes me feel as if I am in heaven.

  • I love this rendition of this song, bu the video is very sad. "Ponder nothing earthly-minded", yet all these photos of the earth. I love nature and God can be found in it, but this is a Catholic eucharistic hymn: "Heavenly food for the faithful." At every Mass the Heavenly hosts are present worshiping Christ, and never in any day do the powers of hell vanish as at the moment of Consecration. This is true worship; true love.

  • It is a beautiful video. . .the mystery and power of God blended well. How can I get permission to use it?

  • Very very pretty rendition of this most beautiful and spiritual hymn.

  • This is an absolutely beautiful song. It gives me chills every time I listen to it. Thank you for sharing!

  • This hymn has special meaning to me, my church did a production of "The Boars Head and Yule Tide Festival" for several years, I was in it from a young age until highschool when they had to quit doing it due to funding issues. Whenever I hear this song, I go back in time to those days and cant help but get misty eyed

  • singing this for chorus. our concert ! :D follwed by silent night, hallelujah, carol of the bells, & joy to the world:D i cannt wait(:

  • Beautiful rendition of a fine musical experience

  • I prefer "We Are Heathens" by Karl Donaldsson. Much more manly.

  • What a beautiful hymn.

  • Oneof my favorite hymns. beautiful arrangement/rendition. Sort of haunting, but beautiful.

  • This hymn has always had a very special meaning to me. It's an old French tune and is known as The Story of Jesus Christ, translated. We used to sing the French version in French class. Ever since, this hymn as sung here, has become my favorite non-Christmas hymn. :-) Thank you for posting!

  • @Cml725 I would love to hear the French version of the song. Do you know where I can find it?

  • @mchen730 Look up on here Jesus Christ S'habille en pauvre

  • @Cml725 Thanks!

  • @mchen730 You're welcome! :-)

  • @mchen730

Are you able to send the link to me too please?

    Thank you.

    God Bless.

  • @Cml725 what is the name of the tune in french? Thanks

  • i luv this song:)

  • My LORD Jesus I love you so much and thank you for saving me. Religion didn't save me but you did. I praise you, the God who created the heavens and the earth. In heaven there is no religion. Rituals do not save us but a living reationship with a living God. Amen.

  • Notice the present tense: "Christ our God to earth descendeth".

That is what happens at each and every Catholic Mass!!

I am SO excited about coming home to the Catholic Church!

God himself comes down from heaven and he physically enters everyone who receives Holy Communion.

    Wow.

  • @mottledbrain Welcome home, sibling in Christ! <3

  • @mottledbrain I hate to feed a troll, but friend, why must you start a fight in the comments on a beautiful hymn? People who have sincerely tried to follow the God and Messiah we all own as Lord and Savior have, for centuries disagreed on and wrestled with how to understand this ritual he left for us all? Why pretend you have the indisputable answer? Why think what's been proved impossible for your forebears is effortless for you? Why not just let your soul be nourished by an awesome hymn?

  • @jepaulpsychcj Troll?

I simply wrote to express my sincere excitement and love for what our Lord and Saviour has done for us.

The belief that Jesus is present in Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity after the bread and wine are consecrated by one of His priests was accepted by (virtually) all Christians for the first 1500 years of the Church.

    God be with you.

  • @mottledbrain

There definitely is a Eucharistic sounding theme going on here. You're Lutheran brothers can give an amen to that.

  • @mottledbrain wrong. give me a verse that says Christ presently descends everytime and physically enters people by their good deeds of communion, you cannot say this, you must be so careful not to make the death of christ insufficient for total remission of sins once and for all. It Is Finished. paid in full, no more work is needed for God to do thats why Christ sat down, wasn't the cross enough?

  • @emarvin135 My friend, you are missing out on the most personal kind of relationship we can have with our Lord and Saviour. Not only can I pray to Him, I can also physically receive His very Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. To allow us to continue to do this He established His Church with Peter as the earthly head of the Church.

Note this: Jesus never left us a book. He only left us His Church. His Church (the Catholic Church) is protected and guided by the Holy Ghost.

    Pax.

  • @emarvin135 John 6:51-56 "I am the living bread which came down from heaven;if anyone eats of this bread,he will live forever;and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh.' Then the Jews disputed among themselves, saying,'How can this man give us his flesh to eat?' 'Truly, truly,I say to you, unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of man and drink of his blood, you have no life in you...For my flesh is bread indeed and my blood is drink indeed." Not our work; Christ's.

  • @emarvin135 If that is the case my friend then Peter in his gospel in chapter 21 when he says:" Just as the body without a spirit is dead, faith without works is dead", is wrong you my friend are saying that the bible itself is wrong which as a Protestant i would assume you would never do.

  • Faith is a gift from God......"ask and you will receive."

"Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin"

  • @wdmcadams1 "Without shedding of blood is no remission" - of anything, not just sin. Isn't that an amazing thought? Christ covered everything, not just our sin, but our weakness, the misery that follows sin, our decaying bodies, the fallen earth, everything!

  • What a great song. Praise God it has lasted since the 4th century.

  • (Rom 14:11) For it is written, "As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God."

  • I love this hymn. I could listen to it all day! I would also love to download it.

  • This is the best version on YouTube that I have found...

  • is it possible to download a copy of this? I like it :) Thanks be to God!

  • @miketvs It seems like I can't post the file link here. I can email it to you if you give me your email address.

  • @mchen730 Would you mind sending me the file link, please? I want to post it on the music webs in my country so that many people can enjoy such a beutiful Holy song!

    I am a Christan, too
