The most correct method that I have seen so far. I teach guitar and have to restring 40 classical guitars at least twice each year. I can't afford having guitar go out of tune. During the school year, I use the same method you use on the sixth string, on the 6,5,4 and it works just great. Great job, the guys at D' Addario ought to study this.
@hypermagex If you tie a knot in the end of the string, you can use nylon strings in a pin bridge like steel strings. Some times I have to tie two knots, one on top of the other in the high E string. Also, the nylon strings are fatter and might sit higher in the nut at the end of the neck and make the strings harder to fret at the 1st fret, they may have to be adjusted for height. It won't hurt the guitar to use them, though.
This video is at the same time annoying and interesting. You can see someone who is totally out of touch with technology, and can't even think about what the viewer is seeing in what he's filming.
However, they won't have enough tension to prevent the neck from bowing back. Nor will they have be able to properly vibrate the top of your steel string guitar in order to produce sound... and isn't that the point?
If you want something akin to nylon strings, try "silk and steels."
That's exactly how I do mine. Well almost. The sixth string at the bridge, I also twist it, but only once, and then I turn it the other way, loose the fifth string a little and trap it under the fifth string. That's the best way I know how.
Really good video. Bad camera guy. Horrible! I still give it a 5. Just cause that's the best way in the world! NOt really. There's really not a best way. Theres a few. But for me, this is the best!
Hey that's me you're talking about... why I oughta... If you thought the video was good then That's all that matters. It suceeded in transmitting the lesson. Thanks for the positive.
you make it so simple =)

Wow, way to move the camera AWAY from the bridge, JUST as he's putting the string through and demonstrating what you need to see. Thanks for that.

I personally think that the camera action gives the lesson a warm homemade feeling.
Anyways, does anyone know if the direction in which the strings rest at the head matters?

OH no dude... everything was good, but its just it'll be more helpful if we actually see what the guy was doing. so yea, lesson was good though.
touahero 3 years ago
Yeah you are absolutely right. I was able to string my other nylon string using my video successfully but I wish I had the camera
a lot tighter still on the simple twists at the 'top' of the guitar.
