They could have simply answered in a more intelligent manner,( even if the questions were so lame and stupid) so they would have made looked dumb the interviewer instead.

I don't think they were in a ridiculous situation at all. This interview went very nicely (in my opinion) and it provided a look at these two actors as friends and as people. Seems like a success to me.
