I'm not a rocker but this is a beautiful version of Reminiscing by the modified LRB arguably the best version. I realy appreciate you up-loading this for me. I have learned the song and am going to sing it this weekend at our big Christmas party and many people there will be like me. Older times were missing spending the hours reminsicing. I sing more like Glen, John here is way out of my range. But fantastic. I jsut wish that I had his range.
Pure magic. I went to Wikipedia and read the history ( of LRB ) and became sad about the turmoil of the prominent band from Australia ( cept for AC/DC) . It reminds me of a group called Level 42 from England. They also changed personel and messed up the awesome chemistry. Doesent matter to me. I love it all and either way I am better for the magic that resulted
@jazzhawkus My feelings exactly. There are so many of us (fans) out there who are just like you, saddened by the chaos that surrounded this wonderful band, yet "better for the magic that resulted." But then we know that often, so much of life's good is born out of strife. God only knows. That said, your comment helped but it in perspective for me. Peace, AHA
Stevie Housden on guitar - that solo... its just spot. The way he ends it is just pure Jazz, beautiful gorgeous guitar playing. Of course, Fanham's vocal performance is just candy for the soul as well.
I wish John Farnham would rejoin LRB or do a soul album...he's just too good to stay in retirement....love you John..you are everything that's good about growing up in Australia
I definitely agree that this singer is talented and skilled, but I don't like his stylistic interpretation of this tune; I feel he's overdoing it, that's all.
Reminiscing. is right! No usic like the music from back in the day... Classic with the greatest of memories..Little River Band.. always put a smile on my face.. What happened to the yesterdays of this music? I miss those days..
saw this tour in Cohassett Mass. This guy sings his butt off to an unappreciative crowd, The band is great, esp the bass player. Great songs by an under-rated band.
the naysayers need to get a grip. shorrock was smooth and farnham amazing pipes.. both totally different and each a style on their own.... the aussie public loved and appreciated both. this song showcases john's amazing range. glenn did it as only glenn can. stop comparing and enjoy great musos.
Sure does seem like the crowd wasn't feelin it. I don't know what their problem was. John Farnham had one of the greatest and most underappreciated voices in Rock.
@MrRiceowlex You would need to understand the singer's "history" in Australia to understand why they were a bit reserved. He was around a long long time and was a household name before he joined LRB. This was not his style of music prior to joining LRB. Think of someone like David Cassidy or Leif Garret joining The Eagles...:):):)
@FreeTheRocks You know? I am so sick of people making other peoples lives their problems. Why the heck would anyone find it to be necessary? John is an awesome singer. One of the best I have ever heard. What he did or ever does will never change that. If anything he did offended them (God forbid he made mistakes) Cause I know none of us ever have. They should not have gone to see him. Those are just my thoughts. He was brilliant . His life doesn't change him as an artist. :}}
Hadn't seen this version before....Housden is a fine guitar player, but I don't think Farnham does a good job on this, I much prefer Shorrock's voice and interpretation.
This was an awesome show from what I can see on these clips.. should have been a packed house. He is fantastic.. he's just doing it his way and making it his own.... :) I love both versions.... :) Who is this great guitarist? I looked up Steve House but found nothing. I like both the singers' voices, but I agree, Glen's fits the song better. What amazed me was the guitar solo at the end. Never thought of LRB as having such a great guitarist.

Mrginguel,
