  • I assume you guys are not planning to move that bed out that house/apartment. Right?

  • @burtonkidd where did u buy material?

  • did the same thing last weekend. Spent $90 for material, hardware and beer. :)

  • @burtonkidd Did you use the same materials as he did? Did it come out as nice? Trying to build a king size. Let me know thanks

  • @soboliousbflo

    Pretty much.

Mainly used 2"x4"x8' and sheets of pine 4'x6'x1/2" (pre glued & cheap) and ripped into strips for finished trim work and 1/2" spruce ply for the base. Turned out just as nice, with 2 coats of clear varnish.

  • @burtonkidd would love to see a pic of yours. Do you have any to share?

  • @soboliousbflo

    You got a PM!

  • THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!! I HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOW MY DAD ILL HAVE A MADE OVER ROOM IN NO TIME....

  • Nicely done guy's, I'm considering making my own as well.....

  • 00:52 <3 sexy

  • liked it! I'm from Brazil and I'm trying to find something different as a bed... thanks about it"

  • genious

  • Interesting!

  • Omg, that thing weighs like 1000 pounds. Now how about a demonstration of the two of you making use of it lol

  • wonderful job...really but could you at least let the poor girl (@:52)get dressed instead of working in a TOWEL????

  • Hate that muisic

  • I'm inspired! Will build! ^_^

  • holy crap! thats built sturdy!!!

  • Most men could only dream of having a wife to help out like that. Well done the pair of you.

  • now how are you going to get it out of there? lol

  • epic music

  • I hope the people moving in after these two move out like the platform bed, 'cause it ain't goin' anywhere!

  • Looks over built, they used less wood in the Ark.

  • can you build mine too? hehe

  • I've done some building before but your speed is amazing, lol. Thanks for a great video showing how to build a platform bed.

  • i just made my own bed frame cost me about 50$

  • So your never going to move, or at least have to sell the bed with the house? I'm just saying.

  • love the King Kong music

  • Awesome vid! did she get a splinter at 0:02?

  • Thanks. Terrific video, too. I think the chick is cool!

  • Hey! You built in a wrong room!!! hehehe ;)

2 days, correct ? Great job!

  • who would of knew that a woman could actually handle wood correctly?..

  • it would have been beautiful with a dark cherry finish

  • Interesting butI bet that thing weighs like 70 pounds. I'd hate to have to ever have to move with that .

  • How many screws did you use? What type were they? What was the size? What color were they and did they have to be sharp? Flat head or Philips?

How about some more cleavage from that hot girl in the video!

Do you have to paint it black? I like blue. Can I build drawers underneath or will they squeak when my wife and I have sex?

  • Hey what's the name of this music and who is it by?

  • thanks guys for this really great idea , i always wanted a platform bed, but never had a chance to look for it, now serching the web i came across this video , i am going to home depot tomorrow to get the wood .lol and built my self

  • About how much did all this cost you??

  • Probably between $200 to $250.

  • @listermint1

You know for that amount you could have bought a platform bed right?

  • thumbs up for the epic music

  • Awesome. Great teamwork!

  • how much did it cost

  • That was...AWESOME!

  • 1:31 you have a cavity

  • very well done

  • Why in the world did you use so much wood?? Do you get it for free??

  • Wow!!!!! For a couple drunks you guys work fast and rather well.......I can't even play xbox if I am drunk.

  • KIller! But how will you ever move it out of the room? hahaha

  • I don't have a materials list or a diagram of what we did. I can tell you that we used a standard type wood for the stuff you don't see, and we used pine for the exposed pieces. It has a nice finish. We started with the dimensions of our queen size bed and took it from there. It will help, a bit, if you've got a knack for wood work. Good Luck.

  • @listermint1 : Who's the lady helping out? If you see her, please tell her that she has very pretty feet.

  • @listermint1 Nice job dude! I'm planning on building a platform bed. The pine looked nice stained, did you end up varnishing at all? I'm thinking of using utile as my wood... Although a fair lot more expensive than pine i think it will look nice. (Also a good mahogany substitute)

    Anyways, great job again ;)

  • @theedgemike You can stain it, then varnish it. They also sell stain/varnish in one... I would do it that way. Less work. Thanks and Good Luck.

  • I really want to make this bed. How did you figure out the dimensions, and can you list out the materials you used? I would greatly greatly appreciate it. Talk about a money saver! Looks great!

  • No I didn't. That bed never squeaked...not even once, all because of that extra wood that I used.

  • @listermint1 yes sir. and that is very important ;)

  • @listermint1 maybe you need a new lover, i could make it squeak

  • hey bro, if i provide the booze and the wood, can u bild me 1

  • Gave up building beds last year, but I'll take the booze. :-)

  • @ second 52 were you in a towel???

  • If it puts a smile on your face, sure.

  • Looks great! I really like the tiered design - might have to try and make my own here in a bit when I finally buy a new mattress haha.

  • this is a really nice bed me and my girlfriend r going to try it today and see how it turns out

  • @08Reeves u can do it

  • at 00:52 is that a wedding dress? lol

  • Yes, we got married on the bed just after finishing it. ;-)

  • well, congratulations...on the beautiful bed, and your marriage. ;)

  • i hope the marriage lasts...because you are never going to be able to move that bed.

  • @listermint1

Hey bed looks great! How much did it end up costing you?

What size bed is that for?

  • i thought it was a bath towel.

  • wow so freaking awesome, I gotta try doing one of those, ddo You mind saying wich wood you used? I never made anything myself.

  • Pine and standard 2 x 4 wood.

  • thanks ms.

  • hey, hope you dont mind but I actually have a platform bed to build in the next 3 days and I was going to use this design, however i had some questions, was it sturdy? was any SPECial tools needed (besides a drill and normal stuff) and about how long did it take to assemble?

  • This is the sturdiest bed I've ever owned... solid, no squeaks. The only 'special' tool was a miter saw and it took us the better part of 1 day to build it. Good Luck!

  • Great. Now how are you ever going to move that huge thing out of the room? (that's what she said... Hoooo Ahhhh)

  • What the hell is it?

  • Well, it's not a bus stop bench, which you may be more familiar with.

  • Very good video you guys. I was looking for ways to make my daughter a platform bed and I think you've shown it to me. I like the way that you illustrated every stage in high speed. Good job and thanks.

  • nice bed, does it come apart easily for moving?

  • wait, why are ppl hating on you? aha lame

man/woman, ive been looking up nice platform beds for sale but when i look at them im like, 800 bucks for that? i mean, i dont know how to make it but im sure i could figure it out and save a ton of money. any advice?

  • People are hating because they're loser douche bags. This bed cost about $200 in material. Good luck.

  • Nice dude! What source did you use to build it? I would love to build my own.

    Thanks!

  • My wife and I drew the plans, bought the wood, built it, and then trashed the plans. Didn't think I'd have any use for them, afterwards.

  • the bed was very is it the size for a queen or king ?

  • Queen.

  • to Listermint1,

sorry Ikea is for modern design lifestyle which fit well with more stylist people.

People with fat ass shouldnt get to Ikea. You know someone that busted the bed board before? If you do then I feel sorry for them because they are animal, sex is about giving love, not about breaking vaginal.

  • Would have been cheaper and faster to just buy a bed frame.

  • Yeah, but I don't buy shitty stuff at Wal-Mart like you.

  • to: listermint1: but you buy a shitti"er" stuff at shittier places.

  • Very nice looking bed, is there a difference why one would use a base of wooden slats versus a true platform base that you constructed?

  • Probably just personal preference.

  • try to move that bed now hehehe you ll probably need a towing truck. that looks like a deck inside a bedroom :)

  • ikea is cheaper

  • Ikea is for pussy-euros

  • And super lame and shitty.

  • what materials did ya'll use.. this is soo kool.

  • My hubby and I used your video as a guide and built a monster of a bed. Our very own wood castle. Thanks a bunch.

  • awesome, just what i want!

  • Pretty impresive build guys... as a carpenter myself, could i suggest possibly ROUTING the sides and the corners... nothing quite like the instant removal of your shins during the throws of passion ;o)

yeah... about the timber structure too! will it be a tornado shelter as well!!!

  • 52 seconds in....would love more of that

  • its exactly 53.3 seconds..... just about to take a shower ..... awsome

  • lmao I caught that too...

  • nice video, a need more¡¡¡

  • Such DIYers, weighs a ton and in apartment.

  • nice job, i bet you really have fun in THAT bed . lol, noiseless! mm m the best! i want one of those !!!

  • Change the wood to stone and you're building a Pyramid of Giza! Nice job!

  • at 52 seconds his wifey appears in a towel... HOT!

  • how are you supposed to take that apart when you move?

  • Meticulously and methodically. I did it... and reassembled it for a relative. Turned out just the same as the original.

  • What kind of boards are you putting on top of the OSB? 1x4? 1x6? You have inspired us to make a platform bed.

  • 1 x 6 on the top and 1 x 4 on the sides... I think. It's been a while.

  • cool if you look at the sunshine on the bed

  • very cool do u have a materials lst

  • No... Sorry.

  • Very informative.

  • impressive. It looks super sturdy, but was all that wood nessisary? What was your total materials cost?

  • Material cost was probably around $250 to $300. Not sure if all that wood was necessary, but as crazy as things get that bed is yet to make a squeak.

  • Yeah i'm not sure if all that wood was necessary either but great job for sure. I'm sure it's as sturdy as you can get.

  • lol bed looks like a fckin castle bein honest .. mental

  • Very Nice! I'm in the process of building a platform bed myself. I wish I had thought to do a time-lapse film like that. Great work.

  • WOW!

  • just what i was looking for!

  • You and your girl work well together, my wife and I always are at each others throats when we do projects. Nice video and great job.

  • A little duct tape over her mouth will do the trick.

  • I love u for this video i have been wanting to make a platform bed for a year now.

  • Thanks. Hope the video helps you out when you make your bed.

  • Nice DIY! I did get a chuckle out of your significant other helping you out while wrapped in a towel. :-)

  • Awesome, u guys are cool, great bed

  • hey can u gimme instructions or sumthin on how to make one twin sized??? i want to make one myself

  • Glad you like it, but I don't have the plans anymore. Your best bet is maybe to step through the video and take as good a notes as possible. Good Luck.

  • Platform beds are notoriously built for saving money... how much did the entire project cost? If you don't mind me asking. Your bed looked awesome, btw.

  • It's been a while so don't have the exact figure, but with a little bit nicer wood (pine) plus the stain probably about $225ish. Thanks for the compliment.

  • NICE WORK!

  • Looks awesome. Really how long did it take? and where's the DiY @?

  • Thanks for the compliment. Drew up the plans and bought the wood one day and built it the next day. You can see the sunlight move from one side of the room to the other. If you start with perfect plans it saves a lot of time and heartache. Sorry, haven't published a DIY book just yet.

  • good job :)
