  • What is your favorite chord progression?

  • You are just so amazing.

  • It's a shame my school doesn't own two glockenspiels... (we have only 1, and a key is missing...) This is just beautiful

  • Sounds like a clock.

  • noooooo!!!! how could u leave me hangin with a fa at the end?? i'll just sing the do in my head :)

  • @TheTweebus

The last sound is a Major 3rd between do and mi on vibes. Definitely no fa.

  • Very beautiful. I didn't find it sad at all, honestly. I found it tranquil and relaxing.

  • Hello! I am a percussionist, and I will be in my school's talent show soon. I was wondering if you have a sheet music download available? :)

  • @talyaxxschmalya

Hi, thanks for the comment. I'm selling the score and parts together for $15. PM me for details on how to purchase if you're still interested. Thanks!

  • omg i love your work like its so beautiful!

idk how else to describe it than just wow...its amazing

  • This is Beautiful!!!! I love your work.

I write to and I was wondering what software you use?

  • @Tazdrummer3,

Read the description for the software.

  • @reeldeelpeel Cool Thanks!

  • This truly is amazing. I'm pretty much speechless - Well done!

  • beautiful.. just beautiful

  • Молодец!!!))))))))))))))

  • @derbevik1,

    спасибі!!

  • i really could fall asleep right now...

i love the way these instruments can sound so peaceful when the music is good enough

i love the layering effect and the harmonies between the two glocks. im considering purchasing this... the only problem is theirs really only 3 mallet percussionists in my high school and im the only actual mallet player. maybe!

  • @bandgeek625,

    Thanks a lot!

You can have a non-percussionist play chimes and maybe one of the glockenspiel parts. You CAN make it happen!

    I appreciate your compliments :)

  • this is extreamly beautiful. i love all your peices. i play percussion and i was looking at some music that i wanted our teacher to get the music for and i listend to this. it is beautiful!!!!

  • @Autumnandstephshow,

I'm glad you decided to check it out :)

  • I love the gentle progression from start to end building up to a great ending and fading away. I loved it!

  • @DemonDrummerZukaZ,

Thanks a lot, and as in the other piece, thanks for pointing out something you found intriguing.

  • dude i love all your peices. if money grew on trees i would buy them all lol

  • @colbyman12,

    Thanks, I appreciate it, lol

  • I liked it very much, good job. :)

  • @hyoslvrscott,

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thank you!

  • The timing on the accents is pretty unconventional. Its almost like the melody is running in a different time than the rhythm. I like it a lot.

You should check out the Percussion Ensemble piece I made if you get a chance. Its called Con Carne. It was sort of inspired from listening to all the Percussion Ensembles you've made.

  • @rohiogerv22,

Thanks, are you talking about the crotales part around 1:38?

I actually have checked out your piece before. It has some pretty good grooves and surprises. It's nice.

  • Was kind of referring to how you scored the second Glock a little "late" so to speak, so that the Crotales and Vibraphone in the beginning hit an eighth note after the last accented Glock note.

I guess when it comes down to it what I mean is that you scored the low C and D on the 3 and 6, where the predictable place for them would have been on the 1 and 4. Definitely not a bad thing, produced a very cool sound imo.

  • @rohiogerv22,

Oh yeah, I understand what you mean. They aren't actually accented, I think it's just that the intervals before those notes are unusually large compared to the 'inner' ones, if that makes sense.

  • Yeah, noticed that after I made the comment.

  • Wow, this is so pretty. I've loved all your work so far that I've listened to.

  • @DanJF93,

Thanks, I'm glad you're taking the time to check it out :)

  • No problem. :) I just started playing a little percussion, and its pieces like these that inspire me to play more and get better. Even thought its repetitive, its soothing and takes the listener on a journey. Really nice job. :)

  • @DanJF93,

This piece wouldn't require much skill really, I just used the sounds to create more sound lol. I really appreciate it man :)

  • It would be awesome if we could play this in our school percussion concert.

  • @RickyB1708,

Well, why not then? Let me know if you are interested in purchasing a copy :)

  • can you tell me how to make those repeat thingies (by the way, love the song)

  • @Murloclegend,

Sibelius 6 does has a function that will do them with buttons on a new keypad they have.

But in older versions, you have to hide the notes and rests, and insert the repeat symbol itself.

  • thanks a lot

  • Very beautiful with a cute little touch!

  • @JumpShotDude, Thanks!

  • You are amazing. I love love love this piece.

  • Thank you Amanda!

  • hey you should write a trio for a marimba, vibes and xylophone

  • Every time I do that, I always want to end up adding more percussion to it, haha. Marimba, vibes and xylo is my weakness!

  • Dude, this is absolutely beautiful. Can you give me any tips on how to string the notes together.

  • This piece was strongly influenced by emotions honestly. I don't even remember what was going on in my mind at the time of writing it. Just go with what you think makes you feel good. Better yet, what makes your spine tingle? What makes you get goosebumps when you hear a sound? I hope that helps :)

  • This sounds really pretty. i'm jelous that you can come up with this. It's really cool! Two thumbs up!

  • Thank you :) Don't be jealous, I just spend a huge amount of my time doing this, it wouldn't be a wise thing to be jealous of, lol. I appreciate your comments :)

  • i think you should convert a lot of these pices into winter percussion shows if u have time.lol

  • nah, I'll just make new melodies.

  • i really lik this one good job ;=}

  • thanks :)

  • this is most definitely one of my favorites by you. it's beautiful.

  • Thanks so much! :)

I'm glad you enjoy it, even though it's simple.

  • It seems like you do a lot of stacking and unstacking patterns, as opposed to bursting changes... I kind of like this, it's more soothing, but is there any reason that you like stacking melodies better or is it just coincidental?

  • I'm not really even sure what you mean by stacking.

  • Like as opposed to any fastly changing dynamics, it starts basic, with just a few things going on, then things get louder, and more instruments doing more things in the middle, then it fades out again. It's not that it sounds bad but when I make a piece I like to have a part or two that contradicts this. I know you don't do what I just described in all your pieces, but in at least a few.

  • this song reminds me of christmas

  • which happens to be my time of the year and whatdya know, I uploaded it Christmas Eve :)

  • Any particular reason this is in 6/8? 3/4 creates a more natural feel and will give the conductor a lot more to work with I think.

  • Good question!

I guess the only reason would be because when the melody is in 8th notes, the beat feels more like its in groups of three, especially in the beginning and end.

I guess the majority of the piece has the quarter notes in the 2nd glockenspiel so it might be best to change the signature to 3/4 at those parts.

I wasn't thinking of a conductor when I wrote this piece, it's only a quintet and S&E in Washington at least doesn't even allow large ensembles to be conducted.

  • This is really cool! Keep writing!

  • Thank you, I am right now actually :)

  • You should post them anyway, you might get good results, you'll be surprised :) I know I was at first.

I could help you with VDL if you want. Give me your email, and we can figure it out.

  • my VDL works its just i think sibelius itself (plus the computer) make the playback really bad...

and how exactly do you post up the videos from sibelius?

  • You might want to try going to Play/Performance... and set the Espressivo and Rubato both to Meccanico. Also set the Rhythmic feel to straight, and uncheck reverb. That should help it play back smoother.

To post the vids: I use video capturing software called, "Camstudio", and you can just google that and download it for free. I export the audio with Sibelius. Then I take the two files (video and audio) and sync them with Windows Movie Maker, and add the title and all that. It's pretty simple.

  • wow!! this is really really good!

ive lestened to some of your other stuff and i really love it....

i write alot of music on sibelius too.. im big on percussion so i write a lot of percussion ensembles but none this good! this inspiers me... you should get ur music published

  • Thank you! And I'm glad you enjoy my pieces :)

Why not get some of your pieces up on youtube?

  • cuz none of mine are this good!!! haha

and plus my VDL thing doesnt play right...

i think it might be my computer cuz it skips alot =/

  • Just get them up anyway, people can critic you and help you. And you need to get on Sibelius's tech page and fix your software issue, if you have not already, lol.

  • wow

  • :) thanks

  • I would just take the vibes down one dynamic level throughout the entire piece. I really enjoyed this. I have Sibelius 5 and VDL 2.5 and compose percussion music too. I just...need improvement. Lots of improvement haha. Anyways, great piece! I loved the repetitive, minimalist feel of it.

  • All the dynamics actually line up really nicely. Like, there aren't any solo dynamics, if that makes sense. i think it might be the audio or just the sounds samples I was working with.

I'm glad you appreciate it! :)

Just keep composing and practicing, thats the only way to be satisfied with yourself with music.

  • i can feel the saddness in this song. :( there's a part in it though (a little over half way) where it's a bit more cheerful sounding, but still, sad song. good work.

  • yeah, it's supposed to be sad, but relieved at the same time. Haha, remember on your little keyboard, "happy, sad, angry, relieeeeeeved!" :)

  • Good job. it sounds good. I had a quick question, Virtual drumline 2.5 software is a notational software or samples or both. I am very interested in buying one for usage in church music. I use a lot of samples with my roland phantom keyboard. so i wanted to know if this software is strictly music notation sound or can I use it as my samples without my writing music notation. I hope I am making myself clear. thanks and by the way good job. sounds nice.

  • thanks.

VDL 2.5 is only samples, and as long as you have a program that supports VST (virtual studio technology) or AU (audio units), it will work with it. Sibelius and Finale both support it for windows and mac.

basically, you "plug" the sounds into your writing program.

Hope this helps, and please listen to my other pieces!

  • If i strain my ears I can hear the change now, as well as see it... :D... however this would be perfect for a school event... small pecussion ensemble... hmmm.... I have to think on this. Any way, as I said, (or did I? once again, Im to lazy to check) you have a way with percussion, like John Williams with music all around. By the way, do you take requests for converting pieces to percussion? If you do... L's theme from Death Note would be amazing...

  • I'm glad you are able to hear it, haha. Please keep thinking, if you haven't done so already :) Yeah, I'm taking requests to make arrangements, I'll think on that!

  • Might have helped if i had checked out the info bar, huh? I'm to lazy... anyway, I wouldn't change it either... and I didnt even the notice the glock change, I have horrible speakers, really. As for your other pieces, I admire them as well. your a truly amazing composer: keep up the great work mate!

  • I can understand why you said what you said originally, really. And youtube's audio as usual completely castrates the sound quality here.

    Thank you for listening :)

  • repeat.. sry m8, got ahead with my typing... once again I like the way you composed this song. Even though it needs adjustment, if I were able to buy it over the internet I would!

  • You can purchase it from me if you would still like to ;)

  • Awesome, however as for the song, it may just be me, but it reapeats, with the only variation in about the middle with the (crotales?... or vibe? I can honestly hardly tell) is a nice touch, nonetheless it's the same effect so it's boring enough to actually put me to sleep... *I'm a percussionist and violinist... violin 8 years with private teacher, percussion 4 in class/marching band... still, awesome job!

  • it's supposed to be repetitive... very repetitive. The progression is really based more on the repetition than the other way around. It's interesting to hear the same 2 bars with different chords from the vibes. I wouldn't change a thing in this piece besides maybe a slower buildup and some different chords in the first half. Btw, the melody isn't only different in the middle, the glockenspiel part changes and harmonizes and does other things.

Please check out my past pieces also on youtube.

  • This is beautiful. I would love to have the music to this.

    Too bad I'm poor.

  • Thanks for listening, I'm glad you like it!

It's just 10 bucks. Can't you have your school purchase it to be performed at the end of a concert or something? It's not very difficult either.

  • I may just do that!

Won't be until May of course though.

  • That no problem. just make sure you give yourself a month or so to rehearse just in case you run into problems along the way

  • Of course :)

  • Yea man...its like your saying goodbye...

I see the Lullaby as a kind of way to put someone to sleep, but in a relaxed kind of way. Its like you were saying goodbye to a lost loved one or something.

I really enjoyed how you got the metallic sounds to come out so...resonantly...nice effects with the vibes. And the crotales really added that little...sparkle on top

  • you are a very wise interpreter. :)

  • :D Idk why but I could just tell...you know?

    It was written excellently

  • thank you so much,

It isn't perfect really, there are some things I realized I forgot to do, but if you can tell what I'm expressing certain emotions just through sound and only sound, I must have gotten just the right notes out.

  • I would just suggest that you go back and do them then :)

An instructor once told me that when you write something, it means nothing, but when you come back to it and it still has that emotion, its worth keeping

  • beautiful.

  • thank you!

  • hey this piece is beautiful. not for sale right?

  • thanks!

I'm actually selling all my pieces on youtube, so this one is also for sale.

  • Thanks dude, I'll keep this all in mind

  • thanks Frank!

do you mean departures like composing a different genre of music?

  • i really lke this. i say add more crotales though. :) lolz. i love a heavy crotale sount

    lol

  • thanks!

and thanks you for your input, finally some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism!

I use crotales as more of a high-pitch chime sound in the sense that you don't hear it very much, just at the beginning of phrases or key changes and such.

  • this was great though.

i saw add some more counterpoint with another crotale part

i always ask my pit write to give me lots of crotale stuff whenever he can cuz im always on marimba and its great but it does get a lil boring. lol

  • niiiiiiiiice.i like. music boxy.

  • Thanks! yeah, metallic percussion has that "music box" effect

  • Very, very nice.

"Metallic Lullaby" was definitely speaks for itself. Not that it was putting me to sleep or anything (lol), but because I could really capture the essence of an almost "dream-like" state of mind.

I envisioned someone's dream sequence... having a peaceful slumber.

I really admire a piece of music that can tell a story, and this story was very well written.

I'll be posting up my compositions very soon an hope you'll be able to see my story within it as well.

  • thank you very much :)

I think its interesting how you interpreted the piece, but I will say thats not exactly what I was thinking of at all when I wrote this.

  • i love it:]

  • I'm glad! thank you!

  • ERIC. I like this one, there's an interesting calm to it that I like. You rock dude. You're going to have to tell me how to add your music to my you tube page thing. oh this is Danielle btw. hehe

  • Thanks Danielle! haha :)

you just click on "Favorite" below the video to "add" it to your profile, if thats what you mean.

  • Mesmerizing. I love where it goes around 1:29 and shortly after.

  • thanks Colton :)

yeah, thats definitely the peak of the tune.

  • I'm not gonna lie, if you put this on a loop, I'd fall asleep to it for bedtime. A very soothing sound.

  • let me know if you want the mp3, and you can make it loop for yourself :)

  • Cute. =]

  • Hahaha, thanks.

  • wow this is great!!!. and its in the spirit of Christmas XP

  • thanks a bunch!

I actually didn't mean to upload it on Christmas Eve, but yeah you're right, it does sound christmasy

  • souds ok

just hurts the ears at sum parts but other then that is good

  • its called: turn your volume down. :)

The upload is just really loud for some reason, I have no idea why. Try listening to it with the volume lower, and if its the dissonance your talking about, I don't know what to tell you.

  • lol my volume is low xD iys just some parts dont seem to go an sounds like clashing here an there an a few others who i was listing to this with heard it to

  • I don't really understand what you're getting at. Which instrument or combination of instruments is it that is making this "clashing" sound?

  • This is amazing. :)

  • thanks very much!

  • thanks so much man!

and you're really fast, haha! I literally uploaded this about 5 minutes ago.

  • very very cool
