  • Am i the only one that thinks this picture looks like 4 vampires that are ready to rip your heart out ?

  • THe Recyclist, I fkn bow to you man. I wish I did hve the opp there. I did see danzig though not Misfits. I am not liking the latest breed,,[

  • VEIW NUMBER 66,666 !!!!!! and 5 dickweeds who dont understand......

  • Punk's not dead, you just forgot where to look for it.

  • cover you're face when wallk by....

  • Jerry looks funny in the picture

  • @CorruptedCriticism They took this at like 4 in the morning dude

  • no guitar

  • Arthur Googy, center-left, is actually a school principal in the Bronx.

  • I think its really appropriate that Misfits recorded these in their basement . It fits them really well, at least I think so . But yes the low quality is really fucked up .

  • @CycoKelbo

    it's not fucked up.

    it's punk.

  • @deekante

    it's more than just punk.

    it's good music.

  • like of the 50's

  • @ 1:55 i always hear a voice say something haha i always hear it! i first heard this song on december 25,1994.....it was on a cassette tape along with a box of misfits merchandise i got for xmas.

  • ya this version is superior....imho.

Personally I dont like the "collection" versions, "walk among us" is the misfits sound that get me where i need to go, not the remastered takes and do-overs

  • wow, never heard this version before but its badass... thanks for uploading

  • Saw Misfits/Necros show in '82, Robo was drummer then and he rooled. Saw pre-Henry Black Flag w/Dez and Robo, best BF line-up. Much respect for the veterans. This will always be my personal fave Misfits song. Only advice to young Fiends, this is your time and your shot, don't waste it. Punk may be dead, but the funeral kicks ass!

  • @TheRecyclist I kinda think punk lives on, just in a very strange way.

  • @Revile2nr Punk isnt dead, its just sleeping

  • @Deekaighem so true, the younger generation, misunderstood the whole movement

  • @Deekaighem No, it's doing a dime in Attica. Parole coming soon though...........

  • @TheRecyclist damn straight

  • @TheRecyclist our time for what

  • Glenn Danzig<3 best misfits singer ever!

  • DANG, DANZIG!

  • amazing.

  • the best!

  • I like this version better

  • some of the classic fucking misfits !!!! this song and a couple others always remind me of walkin around town in the snowy winter alone listening to them and not having a care in the world.

  • ^ ^

    (o) (o)

    _____

    this song is pig-like

  • misfits don't need distortion to be bad ASS!

  • This is really really bad recording. But that pretty much ads to the 1950s look that they wanted... this was recorded at 12 in the morning acording to jerry only.

  • i love this kinda msuic misfits early hardcore punk, classic metal im only 16 almost 17 but at least i can say i cant stand this r&b and hip hop crap, oh and i listent o death metal/core

  • Horror in the form of music. Inspiration for new kind of music. Real new wave. I think that's the Misfits. One huge wave. Sorry about my bad english.

  • @salelazy No worries, your English is great. And I agree! ;)

  • fuckin awesome

  • i hate when kids nowadays sport the misfits and have no clue who the fuck the misfits are, im only 15 turning 16 but i know my roots.

  • @BattyDevin1 same, and i agree

  • I got an original copy of this vinyl from a guy I work with. First Misfits record I had ever heard. When all their new "fans" are getting into them via their new bullshit, I got into them via an original copy of Cough/Cool.

  • @murcielago06gt i got into them when my dad played American Psycho for me

  • Horror Punk.

  • i scream punk rock!!

  • 1) Glenn Danzing best voice in punk history

    2) Misfits in the top 5 of best punk bands!

  • @MendrisioHardcore 3) Misfits is THE fucking best punk band dude

  • @MendrisioHardcore nope, best voice in history period.

  • @MendrisioHardcore the 5 being The Misfits, Ramones, Black Flag, Sex Pistols, The Clash

  • @MendrisioHardcore It's true :D Only that I think the Misfits should come first in the ranking of the best punk band - horror

  • @eLeNa8049 ugh, why can't it just be punk? i hate all these fucking names

  • @supermaustify Yes The Misfits are a punk band.. But is a statement which I made :D

  • nice keys! i'll have to steal that riff. as a keyboard player and punk lover, i don't always know what to play when i'm playing with other musicians.

  • @meltingwindfarm Ever heard Suicide?

  • @soppetive sure! love them. i should work on emulating them too. i've got some good electric piano patches now, and i run them through one of those tape saturation emulations and it sounds pretty good.

  • @meltingwindfarm Cool.

  • cool shit man.

  • People care way too much about labeling others whether it regards their musical preference or clothing style. Just like music for what it is, I love the misfits because of the raw and sometimes downright aggressive vocals and rifts not because it's punk or anything, just because it's damn good music in my opinion.

  • Lol The only people that will more than likely Call Us fiends A EMO!!! Is the preps/socs Whatever you wanna call them

    and emo's. hahaha

    Fiend Pride!

  • This song always reminds me of some 50's pop song gone awry. Misfits fucking rule!

  • It sucks because all the good music was before my time. Im 19 now and was born in 1991. All the great music was dying out as I was born. WTF is up with songs and bands now?

  • Jesus early Doors or what fuckin love The Misfits

  • in a teenage basement, the world always starts over...

  • the best!!!

  • This is the original recording off the "Cough/Cool B/W She" Vinyl. from 1977

It is the first recording of and Misfits song.

I think its fucken awesome and cant find it anywhere else.

  • I have been into this music, not as long as the hardcore punks, but for 20 yrs. This wasn't a favorite with my friends but it's my favorite Misfits song. You just have to be cool when you cough.LOL I don't like the fact that Glen had the nerve to hit a 12-13 yr. old boy in the face at a signing. But other than that I would love to rub Glen's hot body down with escentual oils, hoping he would smack me on the ass.

  • @BR00KEAWSOME JEBUS! women are vile & disgusting creatures!! :'(

  • All the info asked on these comments can be found on MISFITS CENTRAL..Google it!..And it's crazy to think i've been listening to this band for 17 fucking years! lol

  • I love the bass in the early recordings :D

  • I got the coffin box set, i love this fucking song.

  • @jonyfry My dad has that, the button in it is so old it turned yellow.

  • @Solidleoncheif

Yeah my badge is looking pretty bad for wear too :P

  • @jonyfry I think it looks badass

  • what is this ? drums, bass and keyboard only ? strange

  • @rizzlaxl

When they recorded the first single (this n she) they were without a guitarist so danzig played the guitar parts with his electric piano. Or so Ive read

  • @sloanmidwestXTC yea gives it a blondie feel or that NYC hell park sound.

  • @rizzlaxl it was becouse doyle wasnt in the band yet and danzig just played the guitar parts on his keyboard

  • @FickDichWorld Doyle (Jerry's little bro) wasn't in the band until '83... lots of people have played guitar for the Misfits.

  • @HAFA74 Doyle was the best tho

  • He joined in October of 1980, when they kicked Bobby Steele out

  • @Demonoftheforrest

right right '80-'83 is what I meant... and again from '95-'01. Doyle's band (produced by Glenn Danzig) Gorgeous Frankenstein is pretty decent btw.

  • Agreed, I love Doyle, but Bobby Steele was my fav. Misfits guitarist....... but they definitely got more hardcore with Doyle

  • @HAFA74 Gorgeous Frankenstein would be much better if Danzig was doing the vocals, the vocalists have kind of sucked.

  • i think dead or alives early band "nightmare in wax" made better horror punk, imo...

  • I always see people on Misfits' songs comments asking what album the song is on, how about you just fucking google it asshole? Plus a lot of the songs I see people asking are non album singles and b-sides. The early Misfits only had 3 studio records, but they had a lot more songs that were not released on a full LP, just Singles or EPs, also another problem solver, just buy the box set, then you'll have the majority of their songs.

  • Always seen this as the theme to a classic Horror movie..

  • cool cool cool .cough cool.i love that vocals from glen

  • NICE!!! Love this song!!!

  • very cool

  • I wish the Misfits would get back together just for one night and sing this song in my sitting room.

  • So awesome..

  • If punk and Elvis and Jim Morrison had a baby this would be it, the best!

  • most of these song where recorded in there basement. But that is what makes them good

  • @XxMisfitsjoshxX

    bullshit

what makes them good is that they're fucking amazing songs featuring one of the greatest rock and roll vocalists who ever lived. the fact that the recording quality is so bad is a tragedy.

  • @yunikage its recorded thru a fuzz box and afour tracker

  • @77DodgeTradesmanB200 But the mixing is terrible, the balance is terrible, the vocals are muddy...could have been so much better. The song is amazing, but I don't romanticize bad recording.

  • @yunikage yea well ur a dumbass this was recorded in 77 in a garage.

  • @dorsey1337 No...it actually WASN'T!

  • Comment removed

  • @dorsey1337 It's hilarious that you're calling anyone a dumbass when you're the moron who has no idea what you're talking about. This was not recorded in a garage at all so please stop perpetuating misinformation about things you're totally ignorant of. This was recorded at the Rainbow Studio.

  • @XxMisfitsjoshxX I have been following this band since 1993...I can ASSURE you...The Misfits NEVER recorded in their basement!!.. You may be referring to the fact that until the band broke up, the Misfits rehearsed in Jerry's parents garage!! But ALL of their recordings were done in real studios!!

  • Ok...The Misfits NEVER recorded in ANYONE'S BASEMENT!! ....Here is the story......."Cough/Cool" and "She", which were recorded in June 1977 at the Rainbow Studio and mastered at Spectrum Sound in Brooklyn, New York by Rich Flores...The tracks feature Glen Danzig on keyboard"electric piano" played through a fuzz pedal!!.. Do some research kids!!.. We ARE on an "electric-encyclopedia".. lol

  • this is the way glenn envisioned the Misfits,,,,not the thrash punk of Earth A.D .which now seems to be how their classified,,he`s a very smart man with a talent for writing short and potent songs............he shouldnt have pushed that guy though

  • hahahahahahahahaha

  • i love these raw demo versions.

i wish they would make a collection of them. i know there are alot of different versions out there they could put together

  • I don't think this is a demo version couse it's also on the Misfits' 1st 7", this is was they were suypposed to be in the beginning!

  • Man, what a song... what a great shitly recorded.. i love it this way.. way better than the other... misfits are the best... i love this band so much...

  • most Misfits fans dont even realize how old this song is. this was before Only, before Doyle, before Bobby Steele. this was done with the original Misfits, which was Danzig, Martinez, and Cafiera. they didnt have a guitar player, so Danzig used an electric piano.

  • @69leeman Caiafa is Jerry and Doyle's actual last name, that was jerry

  • thats something i didnt know. i always thought it was someone different, since jerrry onlys real name is gerald caifa. makes since now, gerald, jerry.

  • actually Jerry (=Cafiera) is playing the bassline on this recording.

  • Caiafa

  • Yeah, I'm actually looking for some noob to say something about guitar in the comments so I can correct him haha.

  • the best recording of this song

  • The Misfits are impossible to be overrated, but I think the majority of their "fans" are a bunch of punk and emo wannabe's. There's a lot of guys at school that wear the skull but don't know a single song other than Scream. I listen to all their music, go to all Northeast shows, cover their songs with my band, write and perform horror punk with heavy Misfits influence, but one things missing- I'm not some emo poser fan.

  • So i'm not the only one. Where ya from?

  • We're out of CT.

  • Ah. PA here.

  • Were you at the PA show when the Jerry Only experience came through haha? I was there

Clevelander here, same deal as you guys

  • Sadly no. But it's always nice to find people who actually like hardcore. I'm so sick of hearing about green day that I want to punch every wannabe emo kid I see.

  • agree, the crimsons ghost skull has got to the emopeople wich is rly sad

  • haha agreed

  • They asked davey havoc from afi to join misfits as the singer in like 1999 but he declined. do you know how badass the misfits would have been with him as the singer? I guess with davey as singer of misfits, afi would not have released art of drowning, though and that would have been a real shame.

  • If he joined, the Misfits would be sick. Black Sails was AFI's last good record. So instead of making bullshit for 8 years like he has with AFI, he would be making really good music with Misfits. The only risk would be him making the Misfits a cheesy emo band like modern AFI. And they said it couldn't be done....

  • Where'd you read that?

  • I think it was either AFIs or Davey Havoc's or Son of Sam's Wikipedia.

  • They wouldn't have been bad ass at all.

  • There wont ever be anyone like the misfits again. They are fuckin great.

  • @ryaneldr they were :)) now the abnd should be called jerry only and the fanboys or something like this :))

  • @Metalistu94Vlad

Nah, i wouldn't really regard Robo (one of the original Misfits drummers) and Dez (a great guitarist from Black fucking Flag) as fanboys.

  • @GilbertSyndrome robo WAS one of the original drummers. he played on wolfsblood and some other early era albums. def NOt a fanboy. Dez totally is though haha, and fuck Jerry Only.

  • @oclifeisnotformitch

I never said Robo was a fanboy, and without Dez you wouldn't have a lot of quality Black Flag tunes.... also, without Jerry Only there wouldn't even be a rich Misfits history.

  • The point is, vvv

    The Misfits are amazing.

  • were. They were making a promising come back with Graves and Dr. Chud but that didn't last. Jerry not wanting to hire a official singer and Graves showing interest in coming back to the band but Jerry not hiring him...? So Doyle quit the band and the band just totally lost the Punk feel.

  • I found it funny that after Doyle quit the band he did a short tour with Danzig playing early Misfits songs. Ditched his brother and played with the original guy haha

  • ha 26,666 views

    anyways good song

    Fiend 4 Life

  • FIEND TILL THE DAY I DIE

  • emo LOL THIS SHIT WAS YEARS BEFORE THAT EMO LOOK GOT STARTED!!!best band ever!!!

    fiend4life

  • before the scene was even sperm ahahahaha

  • lol yeah 3 whole years, it's been popular for a very long time it's just increasing in the pop culture now so you see it in schools ect...

  • Never knew that they used an electric piano along time ago.

  • its called a organ (or keyboard) an organ back then prolly
