  • Great tutorial thanks!

I'm using 3ds 2011 and a completed beginner just a couple of questions when i add my piece of sound all i hear is fuzz from one speaker and a slowed down version from the other any ideas what could cause this?

The other is in my perspective view when i have - smooth - highlights + edge faces my speaker doesn't come up smooth like in the tutorial. help much appreciated :)

  • @trendkill84 Thanks mate! I have no idea what the audio problem is weird hmm but try different wavs.. As for smooth just turn up the iterations on the turbosmooth modifier. :)

  • hopefully you see this in time, I followed your tutorial for the sound and speakers moving together, but my problem is this, the song i chose lasts till about 2900 frames worth but the animation of the speakers ends at around 980 frames, is there anyway to extend this? as I need the animating of the speakers to carry on for longer than where it stops (youtube isnt letting me post a link to a screenshot of it)

  • @anthonyph3 Hi there.. I hadnt noticed that but i have now but at 1200 frames hmmm interesting... Im trying to work out why...

  • @pslavi mine seems to stop at 120ish. i also noticed that when i watch the frame bar once it hit this point the marker began to skip like it was lagging or somthing but the audio doesnt change or anything in particular at that point and my computer runs fine. by any chance have you figured somthing out that might be causing this?

Either way great tutorial other than that it all works like a charm and was quite easy to do

  • @GUITARaddictionsRfun Hi, I think it could be an issue with max mate. Its annoying and for my animation I needed 600 or so frames and it was alright until another person said it stopped at a certain amount of frames. I have no idea why its doing it... maybe a newer version of max will fix it.....

  • @anthonyph3 i had the same problem and just figured it out. for me, i was stopping at 100ish, and the reason was i assigned the .wav to the ripple effect before i set the frames to 600 or more. so since it was at 100 when i assigned it, it stopped and laggeds once it got there. try unassigning the sound, setting the frames to 2900, then reassigning it. hopefully ur not getting this too late.

  • @GUITARaddictionsRfun I just read your fix for this and yes my friend you fixed it! Great work! I didn't notice it because I always set the frame amount before i do the work lol. I first created audio for the speaker and realised its length, so I set the project to that...

  • When you Lathe'd the spline to create the speaker, you have moved to the Pivot to adjust the lathing. Instead, you could set the "Align" option of that lathe modifier to "Min" and it would produce the same result with less effort.

Great tut tho! Helped me much

  • @spirt2009 Good to see it helped you mate.... i knew you could align the lathe modifier to min its just during the tutorial i never thought of it lol... thanks for watching ...

  • Great tut but i need to make a speaker like that in cinema 4d.I'm a beginner and i'm learning to make animations with C4D.

  • @WATCHITALLTV no prob mate good that it helped you....

  • Wonderful tutorial, but can i ask you how to resize this thing or make it smaller?

  • @z3D69 to reasize just use the normal 3dsmax scale gizmo...right click on speaker and select scale...

  • nice. simple but very instructive gr8 work thanks = ]

  • @G33thirteen great to have helped you and thanks for watching... :-)
