One of clint eastwoods best films .Also very good intro music for the film. The best bit when he bumps into the union soldiers in town and he says are you going to whistle dixie or are you going to pull those pistols.
The double tongues are still in our politics -only worse. We miss Morricones music in the early west in the Eastwood pictures. Just seems to fit his personna
It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life
Great video. Beautifully written and orchestrated theme. Eastwood's best movie, in my opinion, it had it all: the plot, the characters, the great movie lines and the music. And for Les Lesser today, thank you for your unforgettable performance, rest in peace.
The syncopation and arrangement are not period. but the sind parts are "The Girl i left Behind Me", and a hornpipe, the name of which eludes me right now. both were period tunes played on fifes during the Civil War. All in all an interesting piece of music.
-Old Indian cocks gun at Josey- Indian: Howdy. Josey: Howdy. Indian: You know I'm getting better at this. Only an Indian can do this. Josey: So you say an Indian can do this? -Indian woman cocks gun behind the Old Indian- Old Indian: Beaten by a woman.
@Remington1875 I have a Uberti Remington 1858 "New Army" in .44 caliber. I'm surprised how accurate it is out to about 40 yards or so. I recovered some of the balls that had been fired and found that they were swaged down to cylinders instead of round balls. I'm sure that must be the reason for the accuracy. A very nice reproduction.
It was from a book called, "Gone to Texas" that the screenplay was made of. I think the main theme is what does a man when his whole world just goes to hell and loses everything and then he does anything and everything to survive and try to return to some form of normality. The American Civil War killed 600,000 people and this sort of scenario happened probably many times as it does in all such horrible wars.
Does anyone know the name of the fife and drum cadence that the theme is based on? I'm sure it's an actual cadence used by the army at some point, but I haven't been able to track it down yet.
Hey swingtown, I have lots of favorite movies but this is my all time favorite; I am 35 now and discovered this when I was 17. Since then I have probably watched it over 100 times. It has so much heart and the dialogue is as good as it gets, timeless really.
