DIY Polymer Clay Roses

i made a tiny one in my art class to attach to the top of this jar and lid i made out of clay.

Question!

I used bakeshop clay to make a heart charm. I already attatched the metal ring thingy and put beads in it to make it look cool. I also was trying to color the clay by drawing on it with marker and spreading it around.

Can I bake it? Or will my oven expload?

Hehe I just made about five roses and it took me a good 2 and a half hours and I just put them in the oven and they look pretty good!!! Aaand they are on a piece of construction paper so hopefully it doesnt catch on fire...

I went to micheals the other day and I needed modeling clay for a bottle rocket I was building. So I bought the flmo clay stuff in red. And I remembered I saw your video about the roses you made with modeling clay. So I rewatched it, and used the extra clay to make a rose for my mom, cause mother's day is coming up ^^ It came out really nicely (: It's in the oven on top of an envelope right now.. I'm super paranoid that'll catch on fire!! GAH!! Just 20 more minutes!!

@cuddleycoush After cutting off the bottom of the rose use a thick needle to make a hole thru where you would want string. Bake, then string! You could use wire instead of string if you want to attach it to a chain. A jump ring could be used as well but you would have to make a rounded hole either with a needle (then gently push both sides down), or with the jump ring itself. Hope that helps!

Would you recommend putting some kind of glaze or sealant on these once they are done baking?

If you're interested in making them look really antique, you can always rub black ink into the crevices, or dry brush paint (black or a blackened green for the copper) on them.

Paper burns at 451 degrees F for the curious. :)
