@noweirdbeard we've developed some techniques to lessen the impact of the fireball but planes are carrying quite a bit of fuel on one hand, and have to be built as light as possible on the other hand. When they crash everything comes apart and that includes everything carrying the fuel.

I was a final checker on the flight deck when the A-7 rolled overboard and the pilot ejected.This was on USS CARL VINSON CVN-70 late 1980's.The A/C lost brakes as it was unchocked for launch the pilot lived and was rescued.I belive he was from VA-97.He was lucky this cruise claimed the life of a trouble shooter from VA-52 on the catapult that A/C crossed weeks prior to this event that i also witnessed.I am proud to have served among AMERICAS best and they will never be forgotten!

The pilot claimed the plane's altimeter and thrusters were faulty. 1 month before the crash, the following was discovered, but not issued to pilots:

OEB 19/1: Noted that the engines may not respond to throttle input at low altitude.

OEB 06/2: Noted that the barometric altitude indication did not always function properly.

Although the flight boxes may have supported the pilot, by the time they reached court several seconds had been deleted. The pilot was sentenced to 10 months jail.

Actually Messer262, all pilots who are trained to fly airplanes go through hours of forced landings practice, meaning that the instructor cuts throttle at a certain altitude and the trainee pilot is forced to find an area suitable to put down, such as a golf course or paddock. And another thing, airplanes are designed to GLIDE, helicopters cant stay up as long as a plane with an engine failure and id rather be in a plane with an engine failure rather than a helicopter.

Helicopters are the safest airship. As long as you know what you have to do you should never damage the machine. I couldn't say the same for airplanes which once the engines are down, and they don't have a runway they are toasted. Even with runway the airplane will at best be scrap while everybody survives.

That Airbus A320 was not a "test drone". There were many people onboard but most survived including the pilots.

The aircraft was performing a low fly by at an airshow. There were 100+ people on board. They were suposed to fly down the runway at 100ft. The pilot descended down to about 30 ft and did not go to go around power untill he impacted the trees at the end of the runway. At that point it was too late. Amazingly almost everony survived.

Why was the black box tape tampered with? Why was the black box substituted for the trial?
