Did you know that the main character of Starship troopers is a Filipino in the novel but Producers thinks an Asian actor is not marketable. So they turned the Filipino Juan Rico into a Caucasian Johnny Rico.

I've seen folk comment about how shit this movie is after reading the book..I read the book and I still love! this movie!

I'm hoping somebody will do a proper adaptation of the book some day, but the Original Starship Troopers movie was fantastic!!

It's in my top 3 Sci-Fi Action Movies of all! time!

IMO the song isnt perfectly synched/clipped, the 'windows movie maker' transitions are a tad poor so detract from the flow, and the ending just doesnt feel quite right. But overall i like what you've done.

I wouldn't call that society fascist...definately VERY militaristic, but they do have an elected government...

The whole "only citizens get to vote" thing is explained much more in the book - there was a war on earth, and the veterans got together and rebuilt the government. They only trusted other veterans to put society's interest before their own, so they only let veterans vote. They thought that if a person had to pay a high price for their right to vote, they would use it carefully.

Many past Fascist Governments have been or turned into dictarships but it does not mean fascism means dictatorship. Elected Government can still be fascist, Nazi Germany was elected and supposed to allow other parties until Hitler decleared the Enabling act on the grounds it would combat communism after the Reichstag fire.

i wouldnt say their a facist society though. there may not be alot of freedom involved but the system of government is still very much republican in nature (although not democratic) its citizens still are able to vote. were facist societies have in the past been marked by a dictatorship, this system of government is incredibly complex and multilayered...

Its not Facist, simply selectively Democratic. It is in no way similar to 1930s Germany (Regular Democracy slowly coming under Facist control). Sure, only state service grants citizenship, but the book doesn't define this service as strictly military. Additionally, all state service is strictly voluntary, and freedom of speech, assembly, and conscience are guarenteed to all non-citizens. Its actually kind of an interesting concept.

The problem is, in the movie version at least, the leader of the Terran Federation is a military officer, which means the military runs the state. While in the book, the military and civilian government are separate parts of the government with the civilian government on top.
