because i am going to a trapeze thingo here in Brisbane in Australia for the first time, and it looks fun actually, but how long did you practice at it??
When I started taking regular classes I'd say it took 2 years or so to get somewhat good at it. Thanks for saying I'm good at it! But there are always more difficult tricks and skills to learn and the time it takes to get "good" at trapeze varies from person to person. In this particular video I'd been at it for 7 years in all. Have fun with the first classes! Careful, you may get hooked and want to get good at it, too!
I was not in danger of hitting the ground, though it's exciting to think that! The reason I did not attempt to return to the platform like the others performing was because just before the day of the show the director asked me not to try it as I was not consistent at the time in making the return, so for safety reasons I was asked to land in the net after the trick. The net caught me and kept me a couple of feet or more above hitting the ground.
I first tried it on a family vacation at a Club Med in Mexico. Several in my family fell quite in love with trapeze and we returned each year to get more flying trapeze lessons. Then when I moved to California I started attending a circus school, Trapeze Arts, in order to take regular lessons all year long.

I used to work in Club Med in the mid 90's as a trapeze instructor. It's a great place to learn!
