  • I did blow the m22 up about tens years ago when I put the truck flat out and shifted the gearvendors at 5500 rpm with no clutch in first gear (ouch, I wont do that again) took out the input and cluster gear, but since I build the muncie trans as a side business. i had the truck running again in about 5 hrs

  • indestructible transmission

  • nice hurst style shifter

  • original silver 1982 shortbox stepside pickup 355 ci sbc, m22 wide ratio muncie 4 speed with a gearvendors under/overdive unit attached behind the four speed. gv is .73:1 overdrive on any gear

  • what kind of car was this in?

  • your absolutely right when gm had the original muncie's made there were limited rario's. now there are many companies producing many gearsets in many differnt ratio's m22's now are available with 2.20:1 close, m22 wide 2.56:1 and just recently you can now get the ultra wide m22 with 2.98:1 first gear thank you for your concern-----------Rob @ Rockcrusher Revived

  • @rockcrusherrevived wouldn't mind a close ratio m22. i run m21 's have about 4 total. and a few super t 10 close ratio's as well, nothing like a bbc in a tubbed 55 or any muscle car with a 4 spd,. love the sound

  • yes N/A and not S/C...... geardrive. thank you 62chevrolet

  • ?N/A ?S/C what do these letters mean?

  • @rockcrusherrevived

Naturally aspirated or supercharged is what the wigster means.

  • That truck was not N/A. besides the gears i could hear a S/C. Im looking for the same for my syclone. it needs a nice sound to go with the turbo whistle.

  • just itching for the good weather to go for a spin

  • This sound will never get old.

  • i though m-22s only came in close ratio

  • i don't know how to upload pic's i could email you if you send your address

  • You got any pics of that bad boy? I have an '80 I want to do similar. No A/C or heat, big motor and a fourspeed.

  • i don't push the truck to hard any more, too old to be fixin thing like i use to.

  • not much of a truck guy...but that Chebby sounds smoooooth...

  • hello id love to know what shifter you are using and install kit .. thank you very much

  • hi @btproffet . the shifter is a hurst super shifter 3 with the straight rods, push down for reverse. 4.11:1 rear with a 30 inch bf tire

  • man i wish we had the "rockcrusher" here in australia. we have them just the are as rare as hens teeth. I LOVE the whine of them. Wouldnt mind one behind my hot 202 in my torana ..

  • hey @enginerebuilder1 cool sounding 6 cyclinder . the company i deal with for all my muncie parts now sells rockcrusher gears in three differnt first gear ratio's, 2.56:1 , 2.20:1 and just recently 2.98:1 first gear. if your rear gears are 3.08 with the 2.98:1 its like pulling from a stop with 4.11:1 rear gears, but not really well suited for power shifting. i use the 2.56 and a 4.11 rear coupled with a gearvendors 2 speed trans attached to the rear of muncie Rob @ Rockcrusher Revived

  • @rockcrusherrevived i tried running a saginaw, which lasted for a month and broke in many pieces, then i put a m21 loved it stays in rpm, etc, i ran a 4.11 gear at that time, now i have like 4 m-21's and 1 super t-10. close ratio as well, going behind a stout roller sbc in a 66 elky. my 55 is getting a 496 blower motor and a th400, a stick would be a little too much i think.... i have like 3 of the hurst, i run the old v-gates. inline no chance to miss a gear. universal dt in vegas has parts.

  • The M22 & M21 are close ratio, they were made for road racing. The M20 is a wide ratio. The close ratio transmissions need low rear end gears.

  • hi airsly82nd i sell the m22 wide ratio muncie . the trans all have new Italian gears installed in whatever year trans case you want. the cost is $2200.00 cdn for a complete fully rebuilt m22 wide ratio muncie transmission Rob @ Rockcrusher Revived 905 775 5007 (45 min north of Toronto)

  • What do those M22 wide ratios cost?

  • hi jim2440261 i'm not sure if your bellhousing is metric or not you. would need to measure across the top left to right at the transmission mounting ears. a muncie measures 8 1/4 inches metric measures 8 inches. if you have the correct measurment, you can call me @ 905 775 5007 Bradford Ontario

  • Hey man, love to see those gears a changin.....i have a 1986 Custom Deluxe, was originally a 3 on the tree...guy before me put in a thm350. The truck semms to have had a hydraulic clutch system from factory. How difficult would it be to put one of your rockcrushers in my truck, and how much would the cost of the tranny be, if bought from you. My rear gear is 3:73.....Engine is a standard bore 350 with powerpack heads on top.

  • Is this truck 2WD ?Because i'm tryin to figure out if i can put a Muncie in a 84 k-10.

  • hi, yes two wheel drive. the muncie, saginaw(3 and 4 speed) and borg warner are all the same dimenions.

  • @rockcrusherrevived Thanks for the reply but will any off them fit on a 4x4 because i don't know if the output shaft is long enough to hook up to the transfer case.

  • is that santa driving

  • haha looks like it..

  • pete jackson straight cut

  • YOU ALSO HAVE A LOUD GEAR DRIVE IN THERE

  • your right, Autogear M22w. there is a gearvendors under/overdrive attached to the muncie, at the pull of a button, .73 overdrive in any gear. the shifter is a hurst super shifter with the straight rods, push down for reverse. 4.11:1 rear with a 30 inch bf tire

  • thanks for the vid. so this is the autogear m22w? looks like a nice driving combo. what clutch and shifter do you have? what rear end gears? thanks.

  • this is not a vintage gearset. it is an aftermarket gearset made in Italy. comes in many ratio's including close and wide ratio m22 rockcrusher gears.

  • Vintage M-22's were CLOSE ratio only..Wide ratio is an M-20.

  • @TechMaven wrong M21 came wide and close. M20 had a 15/16 counter shaft M21 had 1in. shaft. there was a few more little thing but the shaft was the big thing [stronger]. The M22 had a little wider gears 1 in. shaft and the gears were cut straighter for more contact of the gears. thats why you hear the whine.

  • hi hillbilly thanx for the comment hope you find work soon, ei is no way to live

  • great sound , i have an m22

i met you at burls creek a couple of years ago and see your add in old

    autos .

i will need some heavy duty parts

from you when i get back to work

no work in sudbury because of inco strike .

    keep up the wine

  • ho ho ho don't worry, there are no cob webs on this baby. not sure what it will do in the 1/4. no problem keeping up with mild big blocks even though i have to change gears

  • there would be no comparison between a muncie and a new process. the trans you have is an overdrive not suitable for racing or durability

  • santa needs to put that thing through the gears like it wasnt his.

  • I got the New process 435 4 speed in my 68 GMC C20 with 427,000 miles just like the rest of the truck. Like the M22 whine lol. What's better? M22 or NP435?

  • @Hotrodx199 M22 is a car tran.the 435 is light mid duty truck tran.

  • original silver 1982 shortbox stepside pickup 355 ci sbc, m22 wide ratio muncie 4 speed with a gearvendors under/overdive unit attached behind the four speed. gv is .73:1 overdrive on any gear

  • wat kind of truck is this

  • my favorite is the early 60"s chev truck but i would"nt trade now after owning this one so long

  • *sighs* I had a '85 C-10 nothing special that I blew the spider gears out, it still brought me home (25 miles) . Now i have a '07 C-10, its just not the same. You know, they just don't make 'em like they used to

  • thats cool, keep it in the family hah. my dad had his nova for 20 years and it started out as a 6 cylinder, now it has a pretty basic 350 with the m22 rock crusher.

  • i bought the truck in Nov 5 1985 ,my DAD drove it then, he died Dec 28 1985, so the truck is special to me. i wish he were here to see it now...

  • sweet sounding truck, ive always wanted a 80s 2wd chevy pick up,but for now i have my 86 cehvy k10 with a 4 speed that im drivin around.

  • thanx, i've owned this truck 24 years, started out as a 6 cyclinder with hub caps.

  • What engine does your truck has?

  • if you put your cursor in the middle of the square you will seen it is a 355 sbc

  • your absolutely right... about 5 years ago the new wide ratio was produced by a company in Italy, also an incase overdrive is also available for the muncie this wide ratio m22 has a 2.56:1 first gear

  • how much did that m22 cost?

  • where did you buy this transmission?

  • I own Rockcrusher Revived up here north of Toronto. I build repair and sell the muncie 4 speed transmission.

  • very cool. If/when i'm in the marker for a m22, i'll be sure to contact you.

  • 905 775 5007 for more info about the Muncie 4 speed transmission

  • M22 Rockcrusher never came as wide ratio?????????
