Why does one assume that the veterans, soldiers and Marines who date foreign women online have no social skills? Why does one assume that the executives who can afford to travel on international business don't date the women overseas when they travel or live overseas as expats? Why does one assume that IMBRA just makes things more "difficult" when the reality is that it makes it completely impossible to meet women who don't have email?

Why is he avoiding this issue that he feels so strongly about (criminalizing int'l relationships)? Is now ashamed for partnering with radical Bahai feminists Tahirh Justice Center? He told his colleagues in the Senate that they are "front-line experts". They are experts in FRAUD, DECEPTION, PROPAGANDA, COOKED STATISTICS, and MANUFACTURED HYSTERIA.

The International Romance Regulation act apparently was sponsored by Brownback working in secret with Senator Cantwell (D-Wa an ultra liberal. The law unfairly labels American men who are dating foreign women as "premedidated torturers" and wife beaters in spite of a 1999 INS report showing these "International Marriages" have an abuse rate of less than 1%. Senator Brownback you are a hypocrite. Your romance law is designed to regulate (PREVENT )marriages between law abiding couples.

There are differing opinions on this. I don't have a staunch approach to either side. That being said, I just don't see what the problems is with doing a background check. We do it for other things.  Why not this?

Criminal background checks are comonplace often required when you apply for a job, apartment or load. But the IMBRA law background checks are different. Its absurd considering this is the first Federal law that requires criminal history disclosure before two people can COMMUNICATE. This law goes way to far especially considering 99% of these romance letters will never result in marriage and thus the federal government is regulating friendship.. a very dangerous precedent.

I read the article the other day, but don't think that this does not happen. I kind of agree with you on just the initial communication there should not be the requirement for the background. But I would say before the bride-to-be came over that it should take place then. Like I said before, nothing wrong with safety.

You say we do it for other things, but those are VOLUNTARY--not a Federal law, therefore your comparison is baseless. The rest of the world does not require background checks for int'l communication. I advised you that I could care less about that when there are more pressing issues.
