  • I think these continued through as Kraft sponsored Fluppy Dogs that came on afterward... or was it before... I need to find my vhs tapes. And a VCR.

  • F&%@ it, imma make a grilled cheese

  • lol this is what came up when I searched "f&%@ holiday commercialism"

  • 4:44 "... top with more cheese." that about sums it up.

  • My mom taped The Christmas Toy for us before we were born (in 1987, 1989 and 1994) and didn't cut any of the commercials. The Christmas Toy is still one of our favorite Christmas movies (we watch it every year!) but just hearing these commercials makes me feel like a kid and instantly puts me in the Christmas mood! I love them. I think the original tape has been played so many times that it doesn't work, so thank you for posting these! :)

  • I love it! Keep it up!

  • irony is adults and children werent fat back in the 80s you rarely came across someone who was obese 300Ib or more if you did everyone would stop and stare now its no big deal.....All that Corn Syrup I guess

  • Question...do the supermarkets actually sell those bread bowls pre-made?

  • This guy has such a great voice.

  • Thank you SO MUCH for uploading this, 80sCommercialVault!!!! If I could, I would make the Kraft dishes shown in this, and give them to you for your reward for preserving and uploading! Although you deserve a lot more more for your efforts and sharing, than just this food.

  • anyone know what issue of TV Guide these recipes are in?

  • Got to give them credit in that It actually looks like they just prepared the food in front of a camera. Usually for tv commercials and print ads they hire an artist to make fake food.

  • Wow. Does this bring back some memories. Thanks so much for posting. Any Halloween commercials from the 80's?

  • for people who are wondering what the hell is almond bark its like white chocolate

    but with artificial almond flavoring

  • Wow. ..and to think we ate bad today, lol.

  • I bought this TV Guide off of ebay and got in the mail today. I could not resist.

  • Ok, some comments about the food in this here commercial set

The Strawberry Almond bars look ok, but I'd use butter.

The Apple-Mayonnaise-Onion-Sour creme dip? That's just gross!

The Cheddar Crisps?.Ehh, I'd have to figure out what a "cheese dough" is first.

Ok, now, who in hell would give someone a gift basket of luke warm processed cheese slices, sandwich meat, pepper rings, & margarine with vegetables on it? Good way to get food poisoning. And who eats meatball subs and chicken wings on xmas?

  • @Chub4ChubsRule We always eat things like subs and wings for Christmas dinner, it's tradition that we eat "finger foods" instead of a big dinner. I think the margarine and vegetable dip sounds a little nasty too though.

  • Some hilarious shit lol

  • As always, Kraft's announcer (for over 40 years, on TV and radio) was Ed Herlihy.

  • Yummmyyy all of these look absolutely delicious!

  • I remember the Christmas of '86. I got my Rainbow Brite Viewmaster that year. :)

And I very much remember this special. I miss those days, so very much.

  • December 6, 1986...My eleventh birthday. My ass was likely parked in front of the TV watching this...

  • was thinking about these the other day, I remember seeing them when I was a kid. Showed them to my parents, and we all had a good bit of nostalgia. Thanks for posting =)

  • I love the way he narrates words like: Sauce, Zip, Cheese

Does anyone else have meatball sandwiches for Christmas dinner?

  • @xocute666 i also like the way he says "marinate!"

I assume the sandwiches are for a few days before Christmas?

  • Comment removed

  • @blazerAGD Seems pretty self-explanatory to me...

  • @blazerAGD You can find em just about everywhere, I use white chocolate bark though.

  • i wish i was a kid again :(

  • I remember these commercials even back in the 70s - they were like a Holiday tradition because they were a number of Kraft sponsored TV speciails. It just seemed to be part of the holidays.

  • a special spread w/ chopped veggies and Parkay margarine. umm...eww.

  • Also, I am going to make all of these.

  • Wow....just...wow. I cannot believe that someone posted these. I also have childhood memories of watching Christmas Toy and seeing these commercials...THANK YOU!!

  • @alliecamp Me too! And I thought my sister and I were the only ones! It's the middle of summer and I want Christmas after watching this! lol

  • I wonder if the producers got high before making this. "I know, how about onion and mayo dip?"

    "Yeah, with APPLES!"

  • None of these look appetizing.

  • I'm not saying I'd actually eat them, but the cheddar crisps and cappuccino cheesecake don't look bad. And I'd totally eat some of that chocolate mousse.

  • i miss the 80s soooo much!! these commercials are awsome!! =)

  • Arrange with processed cheese slices? Really? Still in the plastic?? Really??

  • These are great commercials and such a product of its time. Nowadays I can't imagine many modern day foodies would consider buying all their various groceries from a sing food conglomerate.

  • True.

However, some of the things seen (such as Lender's Bagels and Celestial Seasonings tea) have since been sold off to other companies or spun off.

But it seems that everything back then was owned by one or two companies... either these guys or Beatrice Foods. And Beatrice Foods had the commercials ending with "We're Beatrice" at the time. Look it up.

  • I'll give it a look. Thanks for the tip.

You picked one hell of a weird time of the year to watch nostalgic holiday commercials.

  • I just found this guy's page again, and I'm making my way through most of these.

  • I STILL to this day wanna try making the "Gala dip" lol

  • I still have The Christmas Toy on VHS and still have pieces of these commercials intact! I am in the process of converting it to DVD.

  • 'Cause it's definitely the CHEESIEST.

  • They ruined that cappuccino cheesecake with that sour cream.

  • I always loved these commercials! Wish Kraft would do these again.

  • Can you find the ones seen in the Anne Murray Carribbean special?

  • Man, I remember these recipes.

But man, talk about the gas you'd get after going to a holiday party where they served all this food. XD

  • HAHAHAHA

  • Good lord...that's a lot of cheese.

  • Man these are making me hungry! Except when they mention "processed cheese" :P Lol

  • "The nicest gifts under the tree...are the ones you make yourself."

    Uh huh, yeah sure...

Hehe jk, love these old ads!

  • why would you dip chicken wings covered in barbecue sauce in yet another sauce? lol

  • Apples, onions and mayonaisse???

Mmm I dont know about that (bleech)

Dag this was during a time Mom actually would have time to cook a real meal

  • I wish these food makers would return to the older style package labels as seen here.

  • It's so interesting to see! Just about all the labels on these products are a lot different today. I think most of them still exist although I'm not sure about Kraft strawberry preserves. I really like the 80's elegance conveyed here too and the way everything is described.

  • I think if I could rewind & freeze time, It would be sometime in the late 80's. My Grandma Birchfield whom I was close to was alive and well. I didn't like elementary school , so it would most likely be in the summer. And, yes, I just gave away my last name.lol

  • Just what I wanted under my xmas tree...a extra 50 pounds on my ass.

  • @sugarrrsmack

And for this my friend, I salute you!

  • Thank you so much for posting! They remind me of preschool so much. Watching The Christmas Toy isn't quite the same without these commercials.

  • Yay!! Thanks for uploading these!! I watch my taped version a lot, too! ;)

This year, I live with my husband and I don't have the tape here.. but I'm still going to watch the christmas toy- sans the commercials, which are a cool part of it

  • Thank you for uploading these! I watch these EVERY Christmas, they're so nostalgic and funny!

  • I remember wanting that poster! It's humorous just to see the old packaging!

  • For the tape being damn near 25 years old, you got some pretty good quality out of it. Our tape of this hasn't looked that good since 1990.

  • I have the VHS of this! It was shown during The Christmas Toy (my all time favorite X-mas movie ever!!)

  • Ah the good ole days...I love how they mention 3 times that the cheese is processed. Try doing that nowadays! They wouldn't sell one block!

  • HAHHAHAHH!!! very good point.

  • OMG! I remember watching this on tv when I was little and thinking, "why don't my parents ever make anything like this?" Now I'm glad, because we would have all been 300 lbs! Start the x-mas dinner off with a meatball sandwich the size of New York?! Ahh!

(Wow, Perry Como!! Where's my undies to throw on stage!!!)

  • I've always loved this and if anyone has theses recipes please I want them all for sentimental value.

  • what is up with these super-long commercials?

    interesting, nonetheless :)

  • Product sponsorship. They were pretty much the only commercials that aired during this special.

  • If anyone is intersted in the actual recipes for these, I have a few of them. You can also fined them at your public library if you just look for the magazine. TV Guide Dec. 1986. Enjoy!

  • You have the actual recipes?? I would love a copy of them! Thank you for the offer!

  • i loved when they gave these "mini" recipes

  • Where's the Gutloaf Whistle-Pie?

  • 80sCommericalVault, you have the hardest job....and all so we can remeber the good ole days. You are the bomb. I love you!! Keep 'em coming.

  • It all sounds like a cardiologist's dream come true, but scrumptious, nevertheless! Thanks for posting!

  • wtf these look fucking tasty why don't they make these ads anymore

  • 80sCommercialVault, I think I love you.

  • wow, that looks good.....

  • Warning!! DO NOT watch when hungry! Lol.

  • Thank you, Thank you, Thank you !!!

  • yay i want more videos! i love your account!!

  • Nothing, and I mean NOTHING says Christmas like Velveta Cheese!

  • Ummm, I don't know about putting cheez whiz with cinnamon applesauce and nuts, however! lol
