Geraldine Ferraro was not only right, but she knows from her own experience. Of course nobody ever heard the rest of that statement because that puts her comment into context. Ferraro was a VP candidate in '84 as a last ditch effort to defeat Reagan, shes been a token and would be the best person to make that call. They create racism by creating a lower standard, thereby creating the illusion among minorities that the tests are geared "only for whites".

As far as treating everybody according to hard work, when has that ever mattered! People of color have always worked the hardest and if that was the standard we would run the U.S. The standard is set by race, money, and education. All these things have been eviscerated from the black community. A small percentage of blacks are able to hurdle their way to the top. If whites were really concerned they would make sure blacks have a proper education to compete fairly. Whites do not want that!

I disagree. How many votes did Obama receive from whites who feel guilty (misplaced, of course) over slavery, Jim Crow laws, and every other real or perceived injustice forced upon blacks over the past 150 years?
Ferraro hit the nail on the head. People who voted for Obama did so for one of three reasons:
1) He was black (more or less), and the allure of "making history" was too great to resist, policies be damned.
2) White liberal guilt.
3) They'd vote for any Democrat candidate.

It's a shame that still many people in this country judge people on race and sex rather than the issues that affect millitary families, the poor and the economy. So much so that people will vote for their second choice simply because of the issue of race and sex rather than the issues at hand. And then the people wonder why when it is us who influence the choice of the candidates. Racists and feminists are shattering not only the Democratic party but they may even put the nation at risk.

Can I just point out the alarmingly obvious? If you're looking for a candidate who's an easy sell to the American people, you don't start off with a black man whose middle name is 'Hussein'. Ferraro's comments are breathtakingly dumb and disingenuous, probably prompted by the fact that Obama is articulate, smart and inspires people.

Please explain what the Clintons have done for civil rights and how it is more important than what the Kennedy and Johnson administrations did. It's not just one community that is turning away from Hillary. Her main support is now only among the less educated, white women, and older people. Not really a demographic that I would be proud of having the support of. Ferraro has always said silly stuff like that - she probably should be checked for alzheimers at this point.

Geraldine Ferraro was not only right, but she knows from her own experience. Of course nobody ever heard the rest of that statement because that puts her comment into context. Out of context statements is the bread and butter of a lazy, incompitent, and in some cases flat out corrupt media. Ferraro was a VP candidate in '84 as a last ditch effort to defeat Reagan, shes been a token and would be the best person to make that call.
