  • Pre had a VERY high VO2 Max (aerobic capacity). An individuals VO2 Max can be improved pretty significantly with training but much of it is genetic. For the great majority of people running a 18 minute 5K for example is genetically impossible let alone 14 min and under for 5K.

  • Yeah the actors "form" is fine but regardless "good form" isn't something that is the same from one person to the next. Good form is running in line with how your OWN body-mechanics dictate how you should run. You should never try to emulate someone else's form. Run the way it's most efficient for your OWN body not someone else's.

  • I uploaded the Without Limits Munich race if any1 is interested

  • @mastermike95 Is that the race where Viren won?

  • @VirenKickedPresAss really? haha dude u must have no life. Do you like camp on every Pre video and bully and hate on Pre and his fans? Why can you respect both Prefontaine and Viren? They both are truely amazing runners and helped start the running boom of the 1970s.

  • @mastermike95 Don't like it? Don't READ it.

  • @VirenKickedPresAss Then dont reply on mine ;)

  • @mastermike95 ..and the point is....?

  • @ oStealthyy no he doest he was known for collapsing and passing out after his races

  • watched this before my PAC invitational i got top 30 whereas last year i only got top 70 most inspirational movie i have ever seen

  • To anyone who doesn't run, running 3 miles at that pace takes some serious badassery. Pre was great, huge inspiration to me.

  • Did Pre really look like that after running a race? I mean in this movie he walks upright without a problem after the race and can start jogging within 30 seconds. My best 5k time is a 19:02 and when I'm done racing I feel like I'm going to collapse and I can hardly walk because I'm hunched over puking and wheezing.

  • Billy Crudup was actually a runner in high school and college. He trained for 3 months capatilizing on form and speed. His form is identical to Pre's

  • if u look closly the actor in the lead at the begining 100 is the person talking to the girl.

  • pre is such an animal!!! 13:12

  • Those of you complaining about the main actor having bad running form apparently have conveniently forgotten that he is an actor and not a real trackrunner. His job is to get into shape well enough to fit the part, not to run the exact same way the real Steve Prefontaine did.

  • he wouldnt even have the breath to say "I won!" after running it that fast. unreal time

  • They do have bad form, not to mention.. watch the olympic video and they are sprinting this is a jog.. probably 45 min pace for 3 miles :)

  • Front running takes balls...

  • Avafan344 sure u did

  • We watched this a lot in track and cross country practice haha. I was a lot like that, always front running. My event was the 2 mile. I had a race just like that and I remember when I went to the bathroom all the parents wanted to shake my hand and congratulate me on that "amazing race". Best feeling ever.

  • wooow

  • He made distance cool.

  • this was a really great movie. one of the best and most under rated sports movie ever.

  • 8:45 that's my 7 lap PR haha

  • @misterfitz395 That's how Pre ran!

  • I love this video clip...replayed it in my head at my last 10k and PR'd by 7+minutes!

  • @misterfitz395 For you to say this, I really hope your form is near perfect, and I hope you've got some impressive track times. This actor's form is quite good; his arms never cross his body, he holds his hands loosely, and his head is even cocked slightly to the left as Pre did in order to see the clock.

  • well, thats how pre ran. The actor did an amazing job as pre.

  • @misterfitz395 The actor's form was fine. And anyway, Pre did not have near-perfect form, so it would have been inaccurate to portray him running that way. One of Pre's legs was about an inch longer than the other- so his body was incapable of running with even "very good" efficiency. What Pre had was a mountain of guts, and no quit in him. He didn't have the best genes on the field, but he worked the hardest- and he simply wanted it more.

  • @listerstorm239 That is horseshit, Pre had the best genes by far "on the field" (whatever that means). Look up what he did while he was at certain ages, it will show you how much genetic talent he had. It is stupid to say the other people in the field did not have as much "guts" as him, they either did not have the talent that he had or were not coached as well (or both). Once you get to that caliber of running it is not about guts, it is about training smart, hard, and some genetics.

  • @misterfitz395 Hes form is just like the original Pre's Get out of here -_-

  • best sport movie ever it makes me want to pursue track even more

  • The song is called County Fair by Joe Walsh.

  • good moby!!!

  • hi, does anyone know the track under this scene?

  • Its Hayward Field. Eugene, Or

  • thanx, i know that, i meant the song, who is the band?

  • are u kidding me? you are obviously not a runner

  • no.

  • iiRoel, "A race is a work of art that people can look at and be affected in as many ways theyre capable of understanding." Pre
