  • I would say this is pretty stupid cause I was doing 300 lbs. on the leg press and now... after several months and now close to a year I have some serious flexibility and hip issues. Also my back has to be cracked or it hurts like hell.

  • Is this what passes for a leg press these days? Im not a troll putting the guy down but you should be much deeper ( Knees in face) and dont extend the legs fully. You arent doing anything with this technique. Lower the weight and get the form correct. The leg press is basically an assisted squat, so use the squat form.

Not further than 85-87 degrees. Cuz after a while if you push to hard and LOCK the knee backwards, it will pop out the other end. It happend to my brother when he was pressing 1230lb i think it is. Not something you wanna see, VERY painful. i Hope i made myself fairly clear :) Good luck!

  • @worst3name3ever no, leg presses are not squats. not even close. leg presses will for the most part only target your quads and glutes. where as squats will target hams, quads, glutes, lower back, abs, calves, and obliques. not to mention the dozens of stabilizer muscles.

    comparing leg presses to squats is like comparing preach curls to pullups.

  • actually that 45degree incline machine only gives 50% efficiency, that means 1000lb plate, the leg press load is only 500lb, and the guy only press half way, so it is just equivalent to squatting may be 200lb on his shoulder, which is not so tough. One advice, locking knee in a leg press is dangerous.

    at my school i do around 50 reps of 275 kg around 43 stone and i find it easy i would do this if i had the facilitys

  • take off a couple of plates and do a few sets of 15-20 reps (proven range for quads) each 2min rest. let me know how that feels. and tell your spotter he can get his workout somewhere else.

  • Those reps are pretty good considering the weight he's lifting. If you video yourself leg pressing your max, you'll see that you can't come back much farther, if at all. A 100% ROM would blow out his knees.

    The spotter could have backed off until he was needed, though.

  • Then it's not his max.

    Go enter a competition with that ROM, see what happens.
