Chorus: Glazed terra cotta Della Robbia Madonna Mater Delores, Mother of sorrows. She longs to be someone else, not the chosen one, No angels in the boudoir, no voices from the clouds. Why won't the Vatican leave her alone? Litanies of millions ring in her ears. They beseech her, "Intercede with your son."
No one seems to notice she's crazy in her head Loco en cabeza, Loco en cabeza (sound of early drum machines) (chorus) She's the kind of girl who deserves a second look, are you for real, or just an apparition? Those three kids in Fatima were really quite impressed, Was it your entrance, or just the way you dressed? (You should have seen her at {?}) Lourdes,
WOW I JUST GOT IT. This may be a dumb theory, but a boy and his dog there were flourescent creatures called screamers. And the beginning of this song sounds like one of the soundtracks of the movie. Im convinced it's no coincidence. A boy and his dog has been my favorite movie ever since I arranged my favorite movies.
A boy and his dog. That's the sound in the beginning. I mean I think i've heard of it other places, but A boy and his dog was my favorite movie, and it had that effect a few times
jesus. this is so good. so different from the regular punk rawk. like someone else said, synth hardcore! its like the bbc radiophonic workshop hooked up with Crass. Fuck yeah!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah. got that. BUT what i've been saying all along is:::::::::::the person who put this song up spelled the title wrong. it should read "mater," not "matar."
@sarahallene In latin/spanish/italian it roughly means pain of death or death by pain. He may have not meant for that but that's what Matar Delores means.

In the cathedral, going out of her head In the cathedral, losing her mind No one to charm her, no one to make her laugh To hell with the faithful, she's breaking in half! @RoastedRooster69 a few days ago i went to a record store and was looking really hard for a Screamers album.....than i remembered there wasn't any.....trust me i know how you feel! =(
tomata du plenty was always on sick acid.. i have a friend who went to seatle and met his cousin.. they dropped acid in tomatas cousins place.. and this dude started pulling out all this rare screamers shit...
"Tomata Du Plenty Was The Name I Chose On The Ride Down To Los Angeles..."
i got to miss all the punk that mattered woot :[ so now im stuck with modern crap i think the only shows i ever seen out of the real punk era were circle jerks, bad religion, o and i guess the germs return lorna pat and Don were there and shane west was ok it was the 1st time i ever saw anyone break a bottle on their head(dont know if it was real or not but he drank out of it and spat some out then broke the same bottle glass on the floor, but i still conflict if it was real or not)
Forget the modern stuff, you can still dig for all the gems, Punks Not Dead! =;) I never knew the Crashless Germs made a comeback! I've seen some old punk legends here in Finland, awesome stuff, still wish it was 1979 tho.
Living in the high desert and having only read about new wave and punk in the LA Times, coming down to LA and seeing the Screamers at the Whisky in 1979 as my first club show changed my life.
@1969Lloyd haha thats epic.. they were deffinately a band apart from the rest what was being called punk at that time.. they were all acid heads tho... tomata du plenty was a hardcore acid head..
@AliensexKitten000 Well we were coming from Ridgecrest, 90 miles further up the road, so I don't think there's still anything much there as far as music. Thanks for your reply, and if there's any good music going down up there, I'd love to hear about it through my FB Lloyd Handler

Guadeloupe, that's the place you really scored.
Not for a minute were those Mexicans bored.
Posing for those holy cards isn't all that fun.
When the faithful seem so ungrateful.
Is Lady Emotion rejecting my devotion?
(chorus)
O salutaris ain't got nothing on me,
Tantum ergo is no threat to my ego.

seriously.
sitting here with Paul Roessler who was in the band.
he says Tomata called the song "mater dolores"
for "mother of sorrows" (see lyrics).
it's in no particular language.
sarahallene 1 year ago
@sarahallene In latin/spanish/italian it roughly means pain of death or death by pain. He may have not meant for that but that's what Matar Delores means.
TheTrainRex 1 year ago
that would be "mater" dolores...
sarahallene 1 year ago
@sarahallene No. That is Spanish. "Matar Dolores" could mean "Kill the pain" or "Kill Dolores" for Dolores is a given name for women.
Refrescospepito 1 year ago
it sounds like tomata is saying "i am chuck norris, mother of sorrows"
