Def a nice car but to START out at 63-63K...NO WAY. Audi S5 is a def better buy. For 58K you can get a fully loaded S5 which IMO looks better def in the inside and bout same IMO on outside. Yea on the racetrack the M3 is faster prob little better handling but REAL LIFE driving (in the city where I am) is not a racetrack. The S5 for me is easier on wallet and average person wont even know the difference

The 2008 M3 is to start around $63K - $64K USD, compared to the M6 that startes at $99,300. The M3 has slightly better cornering performance, although the M6 has much more torque helping it accelerate much quicker. So in the end... ...which is better? It's quite subjective. In reality 99% of the drivers out there will never take either car to their limits, so to me the M3 is a better buy for the buck.
I beg to differ. Nothing against the M5 and M6, but in addition to their extra horsepower, they also carry extra weight, which translates to less precise handling. If I need room for a car seat, then yeah, I'll go with the M5... but if you're talking about pure driveability, I'll take the M3 over of M5 or M6 any day.

They're all fantastic cars and feel fortunate to have the luxury of these cars. If I can make ten or twenty minutes of my day a little more enjoyable, hell much more enjoyable, then its worth it.
The last two years have changed considerably for BMW. The M5 going from 400 to 500 hp. Im driving a new 335i and it has beastly power. BMW never has been a hp leader, but gets alot out of what they have. Now the hp numbers are jumping by 20%. The 335i is faster than the last M3. The turbos are seemless. This new M3 is just obscene.
It's a preference thing. No doubt BMW demonstrates good performance in their M5 and M3 iterations. However, I like the classic lines and handling of the 911 whereas the appearance of the Beemer is ever changing. The power is also head snapping in the Porsche plus it's true sportscar.
Yup. I had an X5 for my first BMW. Burned to the ground after 4 months lol. Almost got the cayenne, as I had to have a SUV at the time.
All three lines have two aspects in particular I like.
Heavy - the solid, contact with the ground and the vehicle
Rear Wheel drive - I haven't driven porsches enough to really get the peculiar nature of cornering. The rear engine, rear drive thing, slow in fast out.
But I can't stand the front wheel drive vehicles. Do not feel the same.

I don't know. Detail changes especially to the interior can continue right up to production. I heard somewhere that the 335i was not as finished as the designer intended so maybe they are scrambling. Alot of model changes and engines too of late. They've got to be busy beavers.

First of all, when they announced new M3 and discountinued M3 E46 (North America), the prices of used one grew 10-15%. The new one sucks!
Second of all, new M3 is a grily-car. It looks like a soap-box. They have one in Maitland BMW (FL) and is looks ugly! Not mention interiar.. terrible. I am driving E46 since 2005.. this is a magic car with heavy soul!
in luxury i mayb a lexus fan, nywys when it comes to roading, firm ride and handling the BMW M3 is the best of its class out of the SR4 and AMG, M3 is the most difficult to beat at the moment. Overall all of them drinks alot of petrol it can no more than 23 mpg thou, however it is a good car but not suited my taste or style, i would go for the new c-class sport or the amg

I'm sure this is probably considered heresy in Bavaria, but couldn't BMW have just reduced the weight of the M3 instead of putting in a V8? I've test driven an RS4 before and I don't like it. The thing feels like a tank at over 4000 lbs. That's why I opted for the M3, which is much lighter at about 3400 lbs and gets 4 mpg better.
The old E46 series design is much better than the new design. I also prefer the old M3's high-revving I6 engine. What were the Germans smoking when they decided to install a V8 into the new M3??? I bought an M3 because its a sporty high-performance car that still gets a respectable 24 miles per gal, not because its a gas-guzzling V8. What are the Germans trying to do, turn this car into an obnoxious American muscle car???
If you want sporty and efficiency you should buy an Eclipse. The new engine also rev's higher and is lighter than the old one. But like you said, the styling of the car sucks.
Not to mention the engine has no power at the lower revs. You HAVE to take it above 5000 rpm to get anything. I drive a Z4M and rode in my friend's Eclipse, and was like "man, this has no cajones at low speed". And if you don't like high-pitched whine at higher revs, it's not for you. Decent car, just not for me.
Okay, I guess my response was misunderstood. I told him that he should get an Eclipse as an insult. Of course the car sucks. And I was talking about the new M3 V8 in my response post. It's lighter and revs higher than the old i6.

Theres a difference between american v8 and import engines (including the import v8), the v8 in the bmw is cool, and the design is awe-inspiring. Man,,, BMW vs Mercedes vs Porsche. You want a blonde, brunette, or redhead super hottie?
They're all fantastic cars and feel fortunate to have the luxury of these cars. If I can make ten or twenty minutes of my day a little more enjoyable, hell much more enjoyable, then its worth it.

The last two years have changed considerably for BMW. The M5 going from 400 to 500 hp. Im driving a new 335i and it has beastly power. BMW never has been a hp leader, but gets alot out of what they have. Now the hp numbers are jumping by 20%. The 335i is faster than the last M3. The turbos are seemless. This new M3 is just obscene.

It's a preference thing. No doubt BMW demonstrates good performance in their M5 and M3 iterations. However, I like the classic lines and handling of the 911 whereas the appearance of the Beemer is ever changing. The power is also head snapping in the Porsche plus it's true sportscar.

Yup. I had an X5 for my first BMW. Burned to the ground after 4 months lol. Almost got the cayenne, as I had to have a SUV at the time.
All three lines have two aspects in particular I like.
Heavy - the solid, contact with the ground and the vehicle
Rear Wheel drive - I haven't driven porsches enough to really get the peculiar nature of cornering. The rear engine, rear drive thing, slow in fast out.
But I can't stand the front wheel drive vehicles. Do not feel the same.

I have a normally aspirated 1998 Carrera. Last year of the oil/air cooled.

I don't know. Detail changes especially to the interior can continue right up to production. I heard somewhere that the 335i was not as finished as the designer intended so maybe they are scrambling. Alot of model changes and engines too of late. They've got to be busy beavers.

You Americans really have no taste do you? How can you say that the 08 M3 is a girly car? Give me one sports car from the US of fucking A that sells well around the world. The last decent sports cars you built were in the 60's. Outside of the Ford GT, which is a super car, not really production, you produce absolute shit. And you have bugger all export to show for it. You could learn from truly global car manufacturers such as the Europeans.

Absolutely. Even us Aussies are sending cars to the US now. Pontiac GTO the last couple of years, G8 already on the way now. The wagon, ute and performance HSV versions will get there too. Show GM how to build a proper god damn car with big V8, rear wheel drive, performance, handling, the looks and all for under US$30,000 whilst making profit. Awesome. But yeah mate, new M3 is fucking horn. It is going to be a rock star.

Yeah. I used to have an E46 M3 Individual. Nice car. Went like shit off a shiny shovel. Beautiful in every way. I still think this new one is better though. Carbon roof, stiffer chassis etc... Brilliance in a concentrate.

Exactly mate. BMW also cleaned up 6 of the 10 best engines in the world. The V10 out of the M5 and M6 won engine of the year and they won a shit load more in different categories. This new V8 out of the 08'M3 will definitely clean up awards, I reckon. Fucking horny mutha-fucker of a car. Rockstar.

I wasn't saying the new one isn't good, i just maent it didn't LOOK as good. Its still awesome though. BMW has always been my favorite car manufacturer. M3 is the best by a long shot. e46 looks much better though. e96 performs better. They couldve have made those changes and kept the old, better, look though.

First of all, when they announced new M3 and discountinued M3 E46 (North America), the prices of used one grew 10-15%. The new one sucks!
Second of all, new M3 is a grily-car. It looks like a soap-box. They have one in Maitland BMW (FL) and is looks ugly! Not mention interiar.. terrible. I am driving E46 since 2005.. this is a magic car with heavy soul!

in luxury i mayb a lexus fan, nywys when it comes to roading, firm ride and handling the BMW M3 is the best of its class out of the SR4 and AMG, M3 is the most difficult to beat at the moment. Overall all of them drinks alot of petrol it can no more than 23 mpg thou, however it is a good car but not suited my taste or style, i would go for the new c-class sport or the amg

Hahaha!!! Lets face it, since AMG started to play serious, BMW have got nothing. Want a fast, luxury and fun v8 coupe you get a CLK63 (Hard to believe but it sounds alot better), its faster, loads more power and trq.. more comfy, handles better and looks tougher but with a sense of elagance.. what else do u need!

I'm sure this is probably considered heresy in Bavaria, but couldn't BMW have just reduced the weight of the M3 instead of putting in a V8? I've test driven an RS4 before and I don't like it. The thing feels like a tank at over 4000 lbs. That's why I opted for the M3, which is much lighter at about 3400 lbs and gets 4 mpg better.

The old E46 series design is much better than the new design. I also prefer the old M3's high-revving I6 engine. What were the Germans smoking when they decided to install a V8 into the new M3??? I bought an M3 because its a sporty high-performance car that still gets a respectable 24 miles per gal, not because its a gas-guzzling V8. What are the Germans trying to do, turn this car into an obnoxious American muscle car???

If you want sporty and efficiency you should buy an Eclipse. The new engine also rev's higher and is lighter than the old one. But like you said, the styling of the car sucks.

Not to mention the engine has no power at the lower revs. You HAVE to take it above 5000 rpm to get anything. I drive a Z4M and rode in my friend's Eclipse, and was like "man, this has no cajones at low speed". And if you don't like high-pitched whine at higher revs, it's not for you. Decent car, just not for me.

Okay, I guess my response was misunderstood. I told him that he should get an Eclipse as an insult. Of course the car sucks. And I was talking about the new M3 V8 in my response post. It's lighter and revs higher than the old i6.

nice car, first time with a v8, ok first of all i dont like domestic cars with their v8 engines. Theres a difference between american v8 and import engines (including the import v8), the v8 in the bmw is cool, and the design is awe-inspiring. Its ok that theres a v8 engine mounted in the beemer as long as its an import v8. I love import cars!!!
