@ninjaduderantaro it has really good DOF, but when recording video, its just point and shoot. No shutter speed control, no manual focus while recording (the lcd isnt high res enough to tell whats in focus anyway) but it is 24fps. Video is very impressive.
@T0n3D34f it's got MF while recording, I agree that screen isn't highest resolution only 202K dots but if it would have 1M Dots price point would be a way higher
SX30 is a different camera than G12 or S90/S95. If you like point and shoot SX30 is your choice but if you like creativity, quality you should go either for G12 or S95, check out my other video about SX30
Well it's like choosing between car and motorbike.
Those cameras are completely different:
G12 is design for people with passion - RAW Shooting, in camera HDR processing, some parts of glass in the lens are made from Fluorite - just like L-series, so mean its sharp, HS system, great for low light condition
SX30 is design for people who like point and shoot - 35x optical zoom, 4.5 stop Image Stabilizer, Digital View Finder,
So fit yourself into those 2 types and decide, Let me know please.
Could you do a direct comparison movie test between the G12 and Sx30 focusing on image quality alone.. Exact same scene, time and date with exact zoom (28mm) . I am trying to decide between the two camera..
does it has depth of field, can ve control focus, shutter speed...does it shoot in 24fps?
