@mrgajansen um, no. There is no secret. A short back swing is what he is used to. He hits is far because of the leverage he achieves through impact. He doesn't need a short backswing to stay on plane ;p
the secret to why he hits it further than you is because he's stronger than you.

all things being equal, the only thing that creates speed is fast twitch muscle fiber and some simply have a lot more of it than others do.
